  1. We're leaving in a couple of hours ourselves but will be doing a slower pace, only plan on around 300 miles today...
  2. Hmmm, good luck with that one, they are scarce and go for big bucks on Ebay...
  3. Was he going in the opposite direction??
  4. You're gonna get miles of smiles with that! Welcome aboard!
  5. What route are you taking Don, just in case something falls off or you break down...
  6. Hmmm, from what I can remember from the specs, on a MK1 the top speed in 3rd was 96...
  7. Welcome aboard!! Ya done good in more ways than one...
  8. Maybe your clock won't read Canadian time...
  9. Still broke...
  10. As we become more seasoned (or is that senile?) we find new and better ways of messing up! Just as I took the dogbone off the left side it dawned on me that I didn't put the plug wire on before putting the dogbone back on the right side, so I had to take it off again which also requires removing the rear brake master cylinder resovoir as well. Only one extra bolt to do that. No wonder it seems to take longer to do things these days...
  11. The CD changer is a clarion unit and was/is a factory option. It is a plug and play option and when connected the radio controller recognises it and controls it. You will need the CD changer and the cable to make it work. It wasn't all that popular and they didn't sell well so a couple of years ago they made it standard equipment on all models. They normally go in the saddlebag and in reality are a space waster. Even us old geezers have gone MP3 which you can plug into the auxillary jack or install a simple 1 to 2 headphone splitter inside the fairing so you don't have to drive around with the cassette door open...
  12. Air Injection System (AIS) malfunctioning?? Exhaust leak?? Vacuum leak??
  13. OK as mentioned, the '89 is still a 1st Gen MK2. The primary differences are the NK2 has a 1300cc motor, improved 4 piston brakes, and the hydraulic antidives are replaced with electrical antidives. In general neither engine is really known for smoking as their longevity is excellent. The clutches are hydraulic master/slave for actuation and have the typical issues with any hydraulic system. The clutch assembly itself is easy enough to replace. You mention the owner was complaining about smoking which leads me to think he may have added friction modifiers to the oil such as STP, etc which is a no-no with a wet clutch. The bike sounds like parts bike status to me...
  14. In a word, yes! You will also have to change the grey piece that covers the differential as they are different as well, but I'm about 97.213% sure it will fit after that...
  15. Chat's broke!!! Not found...
  16. I remember it from MD many years ago...
  17. Nah!! I've only just begun...
  18. A common issue with the coils is corrosion on the spark plug end. Pull the caps and look for nice shiny brass look. If you see any green at all, there's a problem. Also, when you put the wires back on, trim about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the wire off so it will make a good connection again...
  19. When changing plugs on an RSV, make sure you reinstall the plug wire before reinstalling the dog bone, especially on the right side...
  20. Do you get any "check engine" codes? If no error codes I'd go with Ruffy's suggestion first...
  21. Welcome aboard!! We can even answer questions not covered in the manual! Just ask away..,.
  22. Had a footlong at Razors...
