  1. It's Tankerhank on the Delphi forums who has removed his lowers. Hasn't really had any problems. I believe he has a write up on the whole procedure. Definitely cleans up the bike, but like someone else said, not sure I'd go through all the work.
  2. Was standing on the ramp at Millington when he flew over yesterday. Impressive plane, and from the sounds of it a very impressive young man. Glad to know there's still young people out there like him. Sam
  3. Noticed a while back that it seems like the rear of my Venture "feels" lower. Got another bike and wasn't sure if it was just my imagination or not. Then a buddy who I was riding behind asked if my headlight was on bright (it wasn't). Tried adjusting the headlight, hadn't before, but it still seemed the headlight was high, which would be right if the rear was low. Checked the rear shock but saw no fluid leakage, aired it up and it held, at least for a while. The shock was replaced about a year ago, had puked its guts out, can't really remember any change after the shock was replaced, but not sure. Bikes still under warrenty, an 08, think I'm going to depanel a little and see what I can see. Any ideas? Thanks, Sam
  4. Was wondering if anyone had noticed a drop in gas mileage after putting a lower/wider windshield on thier Venture. Just got back from a trip and mileage dropped from normal around 40/42 to down around 33/34. Same driving style. Just curious before I start checking other things (not that I'm not going to check everything else anyways, lol). Thanks, Sam
  5. 2008 on the second shock. First one lasted about 26000 miles.
  6. I put the tent and two collapsible chairs flat on the luggage rack, with the antennas between the two chairs, on top of those I strap two sleeping bags and a small collapsible cooler. Probably over the recommended max, but haven't had a problem in at least a half dozen camping trips, always two up. Multiple bungees to the luggage rack, nothing in the trunk that I'd need en route as I don't want to be opening the trunk loaded. No pics that I can think of, but it works. When I get where I'm going, We'll unload take the cooler to the nearest store, fill it with ice and whatever else, strap it on and back to the campsite. Has worked so far. Sam
  7. Like freebird said, don't know how far he'd be willing to travel but here's a couple more options. I got mine from a local (Memphis) Yamaha dealer $14999 for an 08 Venture S (last one). North Mississippi has a good deal at Lake Hills in Corinth, $14999 for two tone and $15299 for the S http://www.hondadiscountprices.com/yamahaonroad.htm#touring. In NW Tennessee Abernathy's in Union City normally has them for the same price, but I believe they're out now http://www.abernathycycles.com/new_vehicle_list.asp?sid=0580517X7K24K2008J4I35I17JPMQ1205R0&Manufacturer=2&Category=1&CatDesc=Motorcycles There used to be a discount place in Jackson Tn that ran almost the same prices.
