  1. I bought the stuff from a bike store as they have a wide variety of mounts, cages and bottles. I paid $26 for the mount, cage & bottle. I used to use a camel pac backpack but I don't like wearing it on hot days. This works much better. Plus I can take the bottle off and hook a carabiner to it for hiking, climbing and stuff. I'm not sure of the brand name... but the shop had a lot of different options.
  2. I mounted a water bottle cage to the left saddlebag crash guard. Works great. I used a cage that adjusts with a thumb screw to whatever water bottle you use. I use a CamelBak bottle that doesn't require tipping up (so it doesn't block my view of the road while taking a drink). It attaches using a 1" bar clamp I got from the bike store, and I installed it so the passenger floorboards still can be folded up.
  3. Thanks... The plate from I want is a horizontal mount, like the attached. I'm not sure this frame fits the mount on the Royal Star... I guess I need to get it through the Stealership .... That's where I saw it... I'll follow up on the part number and pictures when I get the thing & install it.... The frame really cleaned up the rear fender and curved flat against it.... I'm tired of my motorcycle cover getting stuck on the license plate.
  4. Has anyone installed a curved license plate holder on a RSTD? I saw a 2006 with one installed on it but I'm not sure of the correct Kuryakyn number. KY-9198?? Sorry if there's already a thread on this... I couldn't find one using the search engine....
  5. I had the Bubs installed at the Stealership, they didn't re-jet.. but they did shim the carbs. Gas mileage does drop a bit with the better air flow... but the bike sounds a whole lot better.
  6. Whatever the price, Bubs sound awesome. I have a set on my RSTD, along with a set of K&N air filters.... the sound of the bike going up through the gears always puts a grin on my face.
  7. Took my 06 RSTD out for a gas top up today. I only wore a shorty half helmet and noticed just how loud that whine can be. Man it is obnoxious. What a shame... as otherwise the bike rocks. On a good note,.. this was the first ride of the season as I just dug the bike out from winter storage... While getting the bike road ready I added 4lbs of air to each front shock and 17 pounds to the rear. What a nice ride! Seems to handle those sharp bumps a lot better than with no air (stock setting). I guess I may have to wear a full face if the whine starts to bother me... or simply slap a few miles on this and trade up. Good luck with your fixes..... ride safe!
  8. Getting back around to the spray on camera blocker... Save your money,.. it doesn't work. I put on several coats and used my camera to snap a picture of the plate at different angles. Each picture I could easily read the number/letter. The flash didn't blur any part of the license plate. I DO like my radar detector though...
  9. A white Tour Deluxe!
  10. I got away with just loosening the handlebar clamps and twisting the handlebars upward a bit from the stock position. Worked like a charm.
  11. I bought the Bubs Sleepers from the dealer when I bought my leftover 2006 Royal Star. They did put shims in the carbs, etc... It was still a little too loud for me so I drilled out the rivets and pulled the baffles out to wrap. Probably a good thing I did as they came with just enough pink house insulation to harbor water and rust was already forming inside. I ended up wrapping the baffles with FMF (four stroke dirt bike three layer) wrap. They still have that nice rumble and are toned down just a notch. Better for 6am departures.
  12. I second the SeaFoam. Thanks to all who posted the use of this product. I dumped in a half a pint, shut the petcock off and ran the carbs dry. When the bike stalled I turned the gas on again and tapped on the carbs as I started the bike up. I did this three times, and on the third time the float came unstuck. I like my bike again. I'll be starting it every weekend now, and hopefully be riding it the end of the month.
  13. At least your bike will run. I bought a leftover 2006 Tour Deluxe last fall and put about 1000 miles on it before storing it for the winter. The weather was nice yesterday so I dropped the battery in to start it and gas came flowing out of the overflow hose. A stuck float on a brand new bike. This will be my last bike with a carb. Not only are they prone to dirt but also the ethanol can pit carb components. After having FI on my last three bikes I wont make that mistake again.... Bottom line is the bikes like to stay active. Let them sit and troubles begin.
