Need to move farther back on my Venture
Mike G in SC replied to JMefford's topic in Bike Accessories
Jerry, Already good friends,,, but, officially, welcome to VR forums. Lot's of good stuff here. Here's the link for the Russell Day Long. http://www.day-long.com/ The one I had is a one piece for king/queen, not shown on their website. Looks kind of like a Goldwing seat. Top quality. (I'll look for a photo and add it.) They are only custom made for the rider. Like I said, I bought a used one from someone too tall,, like you. I could not use it, at all. Turned it around and sold it to a 6'3" friend, Steve Anderjack SR, who is also on this forum (SANDERJACK). You will see him in Hershey, if he brings it (wife not as fond of it) I'm sure you can try it. Seems like the original owner paid $900 and change. Hey Steve, want to sell it to Jerry? Mike G. -
Never under estimate a shaggy old man on a rat Harley...even in Holland! Be sure to watch to the end and note that old Hog is a KICK STARTER. Click here: http://www.liveleak.com/ll_embed?f=4a88a935f5f0

Joe, I remember your trailer,, I missed it by minutes on the classifieds! I did pick up a Escalade this weekend in NJ. A haul, but good price for it. Did you get a SC plate on your trailer. If so, did you have any problems getting a title? We are going to travel states with this one as time allows till retirement in a couple of years, and debating on getting the license. Thanks, Mike G Oh, and, anyone, I will be selling my old " Harbor freight/Sears cargo shell" soon. Probably post in classifieds in a week or so.

I priced a front E3 from Bike Bandit for $133 delivered. Seemed to be the better price. I've got them on front of both bikes. My dealer matches price but then jiggles the install. That's okay, I want them to stay in business. I've used Avon's and now Michelin Commanders on the rear of both. Have not tried E3 on rear, but would not hesitate. But on the new model Commander II, got 12K miles on my RSV, still looks very good. 8K on my RSTD, looks great. I think they will go far.

Steve, GLAD to hear,,, back on the bike!!! Carol and I just got back from VA a few hours ago. Managed to turn it into a 900 mile ride. Guess where she is,,, yep gone to bed! Clear some weekends! Mike G

Miles, I see it's not in the garage. You got room?

Agreed on that. I used to trust CNET,, not lately. I didn't care for Major Geeks but have headed there lately. Shame they don't simply give you just what you came for without putting "mines" out. But once I have these tools, they are problem free.

Like CCleaner and Spybot, some more useful FREE cleanup stuff: And I run them in listed order. 1st RKILL - DOS level program to stop a Trojan from running. It will not clean it but can stop it. 2nd TDDSKILLER (from Kaspersky) this can find stuff the others can't. This can remove what RKILL stopped. 3rd MALWAREBYTES good virus finder. (at this point, run your existing AV scan, it may do it's job.) 4th JETCLEAN - this one also has a good UNINSTALL tool, this may remove something that Add/Remove cannot. 5th Complete Internet Repair Kit - a good one to fix IE Explorer (this has several options, I normally just check the IE Explorer option, unless I am getting nowhere) This has helped me when I could not get MS updates to run, or an AV program to pull in updates. Get most of these at Major Geeks, but the TDDS Killer from Kaspersky. And always, your Accessories/system tools - Disk Cleaner and Defrag (run it anyhow even if not required) And, while in IE, your tools, internet options, delete (select all options if needed, you will loose stored passwords). You can also run the IE Reset from the advanced tab. Can also find this in control panel, Internet Options if you want to do it without opening IE. I have salvaged a few very sick processors with these. This should keep you busy,,, might forget what you went there for! And, I have started using WEB ROOT for my AV (have installed about 30 copies at work, several home & friends. Small footprint, cloud updates. Mike G

Lower wind deflector
Mike G in SC replied to hmlemons0608's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got a set of replacement deflectors from Buddy Rich a couple of years ago. Same size but the plex was thicker. Did not work with existing tiny bolts. Buddy said go to a hardware store, find some longer. Never got my round-to-it. But he did make them back then. Love the knee-blockers! -
Almost put Capt Morgan through my nose on that one! Oh,,,,,,,, I'm stealing that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For cleaning, SHOUT,,,, the laundry spray stuff. Good on chrome and painted surfaces. Not so much on the tires. Greased Lightning or that Green stuff is better on tires. Also, there was a hose end unit by Mr Clean with good soap and a drying agent. But I think that is off the market. Or spend $$$ on MC specific.

Did you install your own hitch or paid to have installed ?
Mike G in SC replied to AngryAmish's topic in Trailer Talk
Do the hardware yourself. Just bolts. No jack, no torque, no brainer. And then if you need help on the wiring, maybe Steve K,,, who happens to make the harness on this site, can help. M61A1MECH His Member/Vendor ad: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35 He lives in Edgewater, FL. Another way to mod the HF Tag-A-Long tongue
Mike G in SC replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
That would also make a nice receiver cooler rack. I got one from Rivco and built a light mount for it. It carries our Kuryakyn tour bag,,, or a cooler(?). -
Sounds like a blast. Where's the other 992 pics? Mike G.

Another way to mod the HF Tag-A-Long tongue
Mike G in SC replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
Mike, Seems like instead of, say, a 2' extension of 2",, do 1' or 1.5 of 2", then another piece of 2 3/8" at the end for the original hitch. Just an extension piece for the tongue (?). -
That's about list price.

John, see previous post: So, here is a link that discusses needed parts to do a 90 & 45 degree on the lines. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60771

I got an email invitation to a Baron's free Webinar on bike lowering this Sunday. Attached is the link for the "go to meeting" registration. https://www4.gotomeeting.com/register/304438015 The Webinar is Sunday PM 6 Pacific, 9 Eastern (3/24). Didn't read too much but it looks more like on lowering the rear. Their info: Webinar Registration Presented by Cruiser Customizing, Baron Custom Accessories & LA Choppers Whether you’re choppin’ it up on your Harley or cruising around on your metric, control and easy footing are top priorities for all motorcyclists – but unfortunately, it doesn’t always come with the bike. That’s where lowering and suspension kits come in, making it possible to find ideal control, balance and safety on your ride (plus an effect that is pretty badass!). If you’re having trouble putting your feet down on the pavement, this is definitely for you! Join us for a live webinar event as we discuss everything you need to know before you lower your bike safely. This includes: - Reasons to lower your bike - How to do it safely - Bike-model specific instructions - Type of lowering kits available - How low you can go - Live Q&A session & more!
