  1. Bob, Got your email,,, sounds like "dibbs" to me. Mike G.
  2. For anyone not named Larry,,, I just posted a similar seat in the classifieds. Not as new but good price. Same problem, does not fit me. Classified link: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4690&title=travelcade-road-sofa-saddlemans-for-rsv24130&cat=7 Mike G in SC
  3. Don, Hey thanks, I will give that a try. Alcohol,,,, never thought of putting it on the windshield! Hic,,,. Mike G in SC
  4. Sounds like "an ideal situation" for the board room!!!! Or arguments with the wife, children,,,,,,,,,
  5. I sold my Strat to get a RSV. It's that simple.
  6. Georgebill, You got a new pump, so should be good for life. But, search how to bypass the pump to "GRAVITY FEED" on this forum. Basically you reroute the gas line from the tank to the carb input. You can then run till you can sort it out. This would avoid worry about sitting on the side of the road. More than that, fears of someone towing a bike. Mike G.
  7. Al, When I replaced mine. the stock disks looked fine. But as I had already bought new (Yamaha) disks for the job, replaced them while he was there. I was mainly interested in replacing the plate with the Barnett. I'm sure we could have left the old disks, but this just assured me I should never have to do it again. Mike G.
  8. Several have also had to replace fuel pumps and stators. (I have) Not sounding like reliable,,, but they are!
  9. Brian, Flier says Oct 12, 2013 at the dealer in Peoria, IL. Flier below. Got mine,,, Mike G. http://www.startouring.org/forum/attach.aspx?a=5269
  10. In SC I can stick a cardboard tag that says "TAG ON OTHER CAR". LOL (no tag needed on trailer)
  11. Looks like a cell phone I had 15 years ago,,, and about the same size! lol
  12. Fortunately, Yamaha makes high mileage, dependable bikes. Riding two Royals, I figure I will get several more years out both. particularly my '09 RSV. And, when that shows it's age, might pick up a used 2013. If Yamaha comes around by time I am looking, good. If they don't, I will simply buy the best "Touring Bike" out. Mike G.
  13. I just found out a few weeks ago that they can ride two wide in SC. Now how do you expect to get around two bikes doing 20 in a 45 zone. That's CRAP. What happened to SHARE THE ROAD.
  14. My 2006 RSTD got that way. Pretty well had to shut it off to get neutral, even if I just wanted to do so at a stoplight. I don't remember when it happened but it was not like that when I bought it used at 17k miles. At about 50K miles I had a friend put in new clutch parts and the Barrett plate. Clutch was not slipping but wanted better performance. Well, after that was done, finding neutral was fixed. It may not take that, but that's what did it for me. Mike G
  15. A mind is a horrible thing!
  16. At least HD appears to print what they are going to do. So far looks like we have to figure Yamaha out by what they don't say, by posting what's left or new. "But there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out."
  17. Looks like you know your V-Star. I looked on eBay and found same model seats for a V-Star 1100 Silverado. Now I will probably try to sell them local instead of shipping back to WI. The PO is a nice guy and probably has been through various Yamaha's over the years. He just forgot to make sure he marked them right years ago. I think I have a shed full of seats and mufflers too. Thanks again, Mike G.
  18. Joe, Shoulda sold me that trailer,,lol. I just towed my new/used trailer last weekend. No problem with interstate speeds. Probably did 80, didn't think about it. But, definitely not limited. Same pulling my HF trailer.
  19. Hey Bill, Good to hear from you. I kinda figured you probably got a new shinny black Harley. Sounds really nice. Yours was the RSV I was thinking of. Someone got a sweet ride! Oh, and just bought a box of filets last week! Enjoy the ride. Mike G.
  20. Hey, thanks. Will look when I get home. Mike G.
  21. ,,,, anything on the RSTD????? Okay, when was the last Midnight RSV,,, That's where they broke the mold. If I were looking to buy one to put in a vault,, that would be it.
  22. Got a link on that? Thanks, Mike G
  23. Looks like it's seat trivia week. A biker aquantince from across country was selling some seats, Road Star and Venture he said. Not sure what year Road Star he had. He said he has a 2004 Venture and pulled & boxed the stock seats a couple of weeks after getting the bike. They are like new. So, I got the Venture seats, or so we thought. He sent a box with a set of seats. The tape was old, so he did box and label years ago. They are pictured below. They are not the plush seats for later years. They are more saddle and pillion like a Road Star. The rider seat does not have the two screw posts in front. Instead it has plastic hooks to insert to a holder up front. The back of the seat has a bright metal tab made for one bolt. The passenger seat is more pillion size, also has plastic hooks and at the back, a metal tab for a bolt. Seems like my 2001 Road Star had a metal loop up front to hook to a cable lock from under the seat. This does not. The guy will look in his garage to see what is still boxed. But for now, don't know what they fit. The last 2 pictures below also has my 2009 RSV seats for comparison. Anyone know what bike they are for? Oh, and if you are looking, they may be available when me and him figure this out. Thanks, Mike G.
  24. I love my F4 on my Venture,,, but I do not see any mystical water propelling properties. When it rains, the windshield gets wet. At speed, it is still wet. Had the F4 over a year. I have a Clearview on my RSTD. It gets wet too. Oh, and they both fog in fog. I do not see a "clear" advantage for how either handles water. Neither sheets water while riding in the rain, or through fog. I did buy the F4 cleaner at time of sale. It cleans and also is good on salads. (kidding, but it does have a vinegar smell.) I may try Rain-x. I use Rain-x premix (orange) in my car wiper bag and it is GREAT. But have not tried it on the F4.
  25. No,,,,,,, But I have HONKED the START button!!! Maybe even STARTED the HONK button! That one gets attention, hard to look cool, especially the second time you try it. Also,,,, After I rode my RSTD for years,, when I picked up my RSV I thought I put on the cruise. Didn't work. Finally, my wife who was following me in the car pulled me over and said,,, "Why you got your hazzard lights on???" (Got to know both bikes to LOL on that one.)
