  1. Check Ebay and some show there from time to time. Rick F.
  2. Here is a carb sync guide using a carb tune instead of the gauges you have but it might help you.. It appears to me that the 2 gauges on the left, maybe carbs 1 & 2 are not pulling any vacuum at idle or when you rev them up. If you look at the 2 gauges on the right you will see they are pulling vacuum at idle and that is what should happen with all of them. I would want to see the vacuum at idle in the green area of the gauges. You might need to play with the pilot screw adjustments on the carbs and see if that makes a difference or you might have some clogged air passages in those carbs. There is a cleaning trick some of the Vmax guys use called shotgunning the carbs to clean them up without taking them off the bike. Vacuum pressure at idle speed is 33.3kPa (250mm Hg, 9.84 in Hg). I am not sure what your gauges are ready but this is what the service manual for a 86-93 Venture has listed. Vacuum Sych Difference is 1.33 kPa Hg (10mm Hg, .04 in Hg).. You can find a copy of the service manual for the 83-85 Venture in the tech library and that might be of assistance to you also. Good luck Rick F.
  3. You can also check ebay and see if they have a TCI for your bike but yes, in 90-93, Yamaha changed over to a digital TCI so make sure you get one from those years of Ventures. At one time we have a group buy on the Ignitech replacment TCI so there is some information in the tech library on that or available via a search of website. Rick F.
  4. I would say just go out and ride it and enjoy.. get about 1,000 miles on it and then maybe bring it back and check the pilot screws for the idle mixture and then resync the carbs if needed. One thing I do is when I fill my gas tank, I usually add some seafoam to the gas to help keep it fresh and to help keep the fuel system clean. About the only time I dont add seafoam is when I am going to be riding all day and filling the tank a few times, then I usually wait till the last refuel before adding it again. Rick F.
  5. If you havent already, check out the tech library section on the 1st Gens for a lot of information on them and what to look for . Also, jump over to the tech talk section on the 1st gens, https://www.venturerider.org/forum/forum/10-venture-and-venture-royale-tech-talk-83-93/ , and ask questions there.. Welcome to the group.. Rick F.
  6. You can also get them from Parts Unlimited. Here is a link to the page that has them listed. https://www.parts-unlimited.com/search;q=DRAG SPECIALTIES marker lense;r=eJyrVkrLzClJLSpWsoqOrQUAJusFKA%3D%3D Not sure if you have a source in the UK or not.. Hope that helps you out. Rick F
  7. Actually, pulling the motor isnt that bad with 2 people doing it. turn the motor over and it can go quickly. Look over the service manual on the procedure before doing it and that will help. Good luck Rick F.
  8. Those are available from Yamaha and that might the only place to get new ones. Check with some of the guys up in Ontario and see if they have a place they prefer to order from. Rick F.
  9. I should have worn you about the China products. There is no way the can make quality parts for that little of money in my opinion. Lets us know how they work out for you if you would please. Rick F.
  10. Yes you should have the o-ring, item, #23, in there on the tube. Also check and see how tight the rubber plugs, 40 & 41 are in the bottom of the jet block. They should be a very snug fit. A source for parts is in Ontatio, Sirius Consolidate Inc., https://www.siriusconinc.com/search_result.php?make=2&model=Venture Royale&part=All&partno=&x=56&y=16&search=search&start=0 They have different parts for you Venture. I would also check the carb diaphgrams for pin holes or tears. They do wear out over time. There really isnt a complete carb kit for these bikes and you need to source the parts from different places including Yamaha. Also you might need to replace the spark plug wires and caps as there could be corrosion in ends of the wires and also the spark plug caps. Be aware there is a small o-ring on my coil end of the wire so when pulling it out of the coil be sure not to loose it. Hope this helps you out. Rick F.
  11. If you pull the tape off of the top of the monitor, we can see what the red light is about and help to fix that also if you like. Rick F.
  12. Welcome to the group and on getting a Venture Royale. First off I would add a half of can of seafoam to the new gas if not even a full can.. Next before trying to start it, reinstall the air cleaner box and filter with the top of the box installed also. These carbs need the restriction to function correctly and will not run with it removed at mid to full throttle. You can remove the top of the box to observe the sliders and see if all 4 are moving when idling. This help to figure out if you have a plugged air passage or not. I would go ahead and start the bike with the seafoam in the tank but maybe rock the bike some to mix the seafoam with the gas.. usually you would add the seafoam and then fill with gas. Let the bike fun for maybe 10 to 15 mins and then shut it off and let it be overnight so the seafoam can do its magic. Next day get on it and start it up and run it like you stole it, working the throttle all over the place and see if you feel and hear an improvement in the running. If you need a new battery, I have had excellent result with a Deka built AGM battery and using a smart charger to maintain it. I hope this helps and let us know how this works for you. Rick F.
  13. I would check out this site and see what they have for your 83.. https://www.siriusconinc.com/search_result.php?search=search&make=2&model=XVZ13&part=&partno=&x=24&y=18 They have different parts available Rick F
  14. That is an interesting idea and tip. Thanks
  15. Your best bet is Ebay as I have seen them listed for sale on there before in the past. Rick F.
  16. Tommy, I am not real familiar with the XVZ1200 but for a test I would think it would be okay. I check the part numbers out and the CDI starting with 26H-09 is for a 1983 Venture. It was a replacement for the 26H-10 by Yamaha. 31 Ignitor Unit Assembly 26H-82305-10-00 26H-82305-09-00 The above is copied from the USA Yamaha parts list for the 1983 XVZ1200 and is under the electrical 2 listing... https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042483f8700209bc787e5d/electrical-2 Hope this helps you out. Rick F.
  17. Cant say I have one apart before or heard of someone taking it apart myself. Hopefully someone will chime in who has. Good luck Rick F.
  18. Welcome back Brian... Sounds like you wont be bored any time soon. Rick F.
  19. Looking at this, I think I would get the o-rings, 21,22,23 and maybe the Spring pin, 24 and replace those parts as they are not included if you just got the Joint, #20. You might as well get enough to do both joints since you will have the coolant out of the engine. So yes I would start with replacing the 0-rings on both and clean the joints up and where they are inserted at also. Good luck, Rick F
  20. It would appear to me that the hole that the bolt is going thru is oblong now. I would take off the kickstand and give it a good exam and see what isnt right with the assemble and then that will let you know how to go about fixing it properly. Hope that helps. Rick F.
  21. What some of us have done is to go to Coil on Plug. I am not aware of anyone doing the Dodge Neon coil swap. Check out this link... search and you can find other links also about COPs replacing stock coils.. Rick F
  22. The ignition system is not compatible as the 92 has a digital and the 87 is analog, this change was started with the 90 VR. The mechanical parts are interchangeable but the A-arm is a different design. Yamaha made a change in the rear suspension between the 87 and 88 model years that carried thru till the end of the 1st gen production. I also believe the 92 has a 4-brush starter where the 87 has the 2-brush starter. The 4-brush being a better starter. Why not just ride the 92 and use what you can for parts that are needed for the 92? Just curious is all. Good luck... Rick F.
  23. Let us know how they do as I have always been leary or stuff from China but I sure hope they work out for you. The project is lookiing fabulous to say the least.. Rick F.
  24. have you adjusted the idle mixture screws yet on the carbs? best practice is to lightly screw them in counting the revolutions as you do this. Use a light touch as it is easy to distort the end of the mixture screw if you tighten them too hard. Back them out to the number of turns that you counted and see if that helps. Do one at a time and you should be able to hear a change in how the engine sounds when they are closed off. I would start with #2 since you saw issues with that one. It is possible you have a clogged idle circuit and it might be why you see gas in that carb. If you need some pictures and reference, the service manual is available to be download from here. https://www.venturerider.org/manuals/1983-1985 Yamaha Venture Service Manual.pdf Also if you havent already, you might want to browse thru this forum looking for information also.. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/forum/10-venture-and-venture-royale-tech-talk-83-93/ Let us know how it goes and if you have questions. Rick F.
