Good Morning reddwarf19655! First off, It's a Venture, not a Ventura(that's a Chevy;)). Second the battery is an 18L. If your venture has the battery water level probe still intact, you will either want to get a lead acid battery and install the probe in the 3rd or 4th cell in place of the cap or if you go with an AGM battery you will have to either deal with the battery warning light flashing or do a simple modification with a rsistor to get the warning light to go away. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?489-Battery-Warning-Bypass BTW, The '83 is a great bike even without second gear and you got it for a steal if it is at all rideable!

Marked the date on my calendar! It would be nice if Kris can get her Vento(Virago 250) on the road by then. It would also be great if my boy can break free so Beauty and The Beast can run together for the weekend.

I doubt there is anything available that will be anywhere near plug and play. If I were going to do this, I'd look at a split Harley Fatbob tank. There may be metric equivalents, IDK. A split tank will be the easiest, IMHO to mount and make look nice.

I'd double check the cable routing from the sheild seat to the cam/pulley. IIRC, you can get one or both cables on the wrong side of an axle and it looks fine but doesn't work very well. There are some plastic bits on the axial links that look like the cable should be run over them but they don't actually ever contact the cables.

I've never been an ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time) guy. I gear up for the occasion. I get it, there is no way to see the future and know for certain that I won't be involved in an accident. I also know how many miles and how many years I have logged on two wheels without a real accident. That is not luck. I have actively avoided major catastrophe on many occasions, several of which I might not have been able to see/hear/anticipate if I had been wearing a full face helmet. So, to answer the question; No, I certainly do NOT always wear a helmet

coolant blowout
luvmy40 replied to Venture Capitalist's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The fan won't kick in until the gauge gets almost into the red. On my '83, it is actually into the red before the fan kicks on. I still contend that the reason for the blow out was 37 year old heater hose. -
coolant blowout

I'd venture:cool: to say the problem is 37 year old rubber heater hose. You said your temp gauge was in the normal range and the blowout did not burn you severely. I'd replace the T-stat just because and all the rubber hoses, cause they're old, ya' know. $0.02 YMMV -
Riding a motorcycle is as close to flying as most of us will ever get.

Definitely sounds like a pinched nerve C5,6, and 7 are where i am having issues. My left hand has been numb/tingly for months and when it was at it's worst the pain in my left shoulder and chest was excruciating. I never lost motor function, but for a while I had no feeling at all in left arm from the elbow down. Xrays showed the misaligned vertebrae. My Chiropractor helped immensely.

Sorry to hear your wife had to go through that! Great to hear she is doing well! My wife welcomes your's to the Zipper Club. Kris had to have her aortal valve and quite a bit of the artery replaced about 15 years ago. Hers was a congenital issue and she was quite young for such a process. According to her doctors, the newest process for the homeogenic replacements is so good that they will never need replaced again. At the time of Kris's surgery we were under the assumption she would have to have the valve replaced again in 10-15 years. It seems the new process was still under scrutiny and they were not telling anyone about it until they had more empirical data.

Has anybody heard from jdbaker.vet? I've been trying to make contact with him for a couple weeks.

A couple more from the same blade smith that made the wrapped handle scalpel above. This is "The Brute" a massive and ugly Tracker(ish) hacker. And My Wakizashi made from a slab saw circular saw blade.

Here's my version of a Bagwell Hell's Belle. This was made with a licensed Ontario blade, my handle, guard, and sheath.

Here's one of my favorite fixed blades. Made by a local Blade Smith, Mike Yurco. It's based on the Filipino Gunuintang sword.

You and Eileen are always in my prayers. It does seem that Christmas has a price. My father died a few days before Christmas. I prefer to think of it as a sign that those taken at Christmas are sure to be met by Jesus and welcomed home.

Prayers up! Never fun but worse when it ruins a good holiday.
