  2. If you keep the bananas from touching each other during storage, they last longer. A cardboard six-pack of bottled beer carton works well.
  3. A couple of pictures. The 66 was the first year for the shovel head. Second year for electric start. Had to replace the original buddy seat to reduce the seat height.
  4. When I first bought my bike in '06, I couldn't believe how fast the rear would lock up. I'm sure that coming from a '66 HD FLH with two drum brakes didn't prepare me very well. I bought a "Butler Mod" proportioning valve from Rick Butler. I really think that it is a big improvement although I don't know if he still offers them. I am also going to try the Kevlar pads. If I ever get a new bike, it will definitely have anti-lock brakes.
  5. You can buy a universal swivel hitch here Starlight Price Sheet - STARLIGHT MOTORCYCLE TRAILERS for $70.00.
  6. This guy uses motorcycle tires on his trailers. Looks like a nice suspension system also. motorcycle touring trailer
  7. I wonder if the valve clearance has been checked? Due at 26,600.

  10. You might want to consider replacing it with a Venture tank and gain the extra gallon of gas.

  12. Origins: The Diamonds were one of the most popular vocal groups of the 1950s, a quartet of Canadians best known for their hit "Little Darlin'," which reached the #2 spot on Billboard's singles chart in 1957. Tom Hanks is an American actor, producer, writer, and director best known for winning consecutive Best Actor Academy Awards (for Philadelphia in 1993 and Forrest Gump in 1994). Contrary to the rumor reproduced above, however, there is no familial connection between The Diamonds and Tom Hanks. The lead singer of The Diamonds when they recorded hits such as "Little Darlin'" was Dave Somerville, a native of Guelph, Ontario, who was born in 1933 and is still alive. (Somerville left The Diamonds in 1961, although since the late 1980s he has sung with original members of the group from time to time.) Tom Hanks' father, Amos Mefford Hanks, was born in Glenn County, California, in 1924 and died in 1992. Amos Hanks, according to various biographies, was something between an "itinerant cook" and a "restaurant chef." None of The Diamonds, either the original group or the replacement members, bore the surname Hanks or is known to be directly related to Tom Hanks the actor. 13. Mark, So sorry to hear and so glad that you are not hurt. It truly is a miracle that you were not run over by another car or truck. The problem is that there are just too many people out here. I-25 is just one big parking lot from Colorado Springs to Ft. Collins. If you had left more room between you and the car ahead, some a-hole would have darted in there. But, on the bright side, you didn't wreck the Venture.
  14. PS You don't say what part of September, but by then snow is always a possibility.
  15. Not a problem up or down. Paved all of the way.
  16. Just outside of Canon City is a road called Skyline Dr. It is one way heading West to East (kind of). Once you get on top, you will be glad it is one way. It is paved.
  17. That will work but this isolator is a lot smaller. http://www.electricalconnection.com/wire-harnesses/hrns-trailer.htm
  18. I have an obsolete Diamond R centerstand (same principle) mounted on an '06 RSTD that does not have the leveling links. However, I am 165# and 5'8" (60 years old) and have no problem getting the bike on the centerstand. I don't think that anybody can "lift" the rear of the bike 1". I never had much luck using the technique that Rivco suggests. Here's how I do it: Place your right foot facing forward (your body is facing forward) on the centerstand. Left hand on the left hand grip. Right hand on the saddlebag guardrail with your knuckles facing forward. While putting pressure with your foot on the centerstand, stand the bike vertically until both centerstand feet touch the floor. Now, rock your body to the rear while pushing down with your foot and pulling up with your right hand. Works for me.
  19. This is what I used. Mounted next to the right-hand side of the battery. http://www.electricalconnection.com/wire-harnesses/hrns-trailer.htm
  20. How much of an angle does the bottom of the CS kick out towards the front when it is down? I know that on my Diamond R, I had to add two 1/4" bolts as shown. The bolt heads act like stops, reducing the angle. You need some angle, but the closer to 90°, the easier it will be to get the bike off of it.
