  1. The strongest winds 98mph with gusts to 115mph passed my home about 6:00 am this morning taking out the power. Then the eye passed over giving me the opportunity to go outside and check for damage. The damage was minimal. It sucked open my utility shed doors and one gate. A small pine is leaning against a bigger tree and it will have to come down. It was scary at its peak with the house shaking. But in the 25 years I’ve owned this house many hurricane eyes have passed over I have a generator to keep the refrigerator cold and supply a few lights and phone charging. Not so bad I suppose. 2. Not too bad in Wilmington so far with light rain and light winds. Really happy it dropped to a cat 2. The eye should pass over early morning.
  3. Hey, ride what you want to, not what others think you should. Those wings are very popular judging by the selling prices.
  4. If the old one doesn't have any pitting inside the cylinder, it should be rebuildable. But, the standard advice on this forum is to buy new. If a rebuild is done, any honing or sanding of the cylinder walls should be around and around, not back and forth to prevent the new seal from leaking.
  5. Well, my windows are boarded up. I was fortunate in that I was able to get a handy man I know to help with the upstairs windows. I would never have been able to do it by myself. It is also something I will never do again. I'm 74 and I'm too old for this s--t! I haven't been so tired in years! Cat 3 now and is getting close.
  6. I remember a friend who was the operations manager at a nuclear power plant who said sometimes he was a hero and sometimes a zero. He always did his best but it stressed him a lot. He was being groomed for higher positions until he decided to quit and become a school teacher. And of course as a teacher he coached a high school computer team that won a national contest! You just can't keep cream from rising to the top.
  7. I have had a 2000 f150 5.4 and now have a 2002 F150 5.4 and have read about the gasket issue on the forums. All of the engines in the 97 to 03 F150s are very durable with the exceptions of the gasket issue of the 4.2 in the first two years and the spark plug blowout that could happen with the V8s if the plugs aren't torqued enough. I loved my 00 F150SupercabXLT4x4 for 105k miles and still love my 02 F150 Supercab Lariat FX4 with 151k miles.
  8. I plan on riding it out. I bought a generator and plywood to board up the windows and hopefully everything will be okay. If it does look like it's coming in at cat 5 though, I will be looking for a rapid departure if possible.
  9. Doesn't sound like Don wants to do that!
  10. Yeah, I'm in Wilmington, NC, the bullseye and I'm watching with particular interest.
  11. Does the hitch installation void the engine/drive train warranty?
  12. If it starts fine without the choke, it is probably set up too rich.
  13. Okay, you win! Just Stop it!
  14. A Ducati rider huh? Must be an Italian thing!
  15. Nah, you're wrong. Maroon is the fastest 1st Gen and blue is the fastest second gen and I have one of each!
  16. The carb sync being off is probably why you got such a great deal! Congratulations!
  17. In the photo, there appears to be plenty of asphalt on the shoulder to ride on. The temptation would be great!
  18. Every time I've ridden my RSV, I was wearing shorts and low cut shoes and I did feel some heat that was getting uncomfortable. But, I should not be riding dressed like that.
  19. It is labeled what I called it. If you go to Walmart and look, it will be obvious which one I'm talking about. I don't think there is any carb cleaner in a bottle that is intended to be added to the gas tank. Carbs have disappeared mostly. They are all injector cleaners. But, Gumout with PEA (polyetheramine) works great for cleaning the carbs as you ride. Lately I've noticed that many other injector cleaners have PEA on the label. Chevron Techron was the first one with PEA I think but they don't have it on the label.
  20. The 5w20 is too slick for motorcycle clutches. That is why the clutch feels snappier with 10w40. Use only JASO- MA oils in your motorcycle. It is speced for wet clutch motorcycles.
  21. Wow! That was a quick sale and for your price! Sort of amazing really! Congratulations!
  22. I use Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA. It's supposed to be a fuel injector cleaner but works great for carbs without harming anything. I use it in all of my engines and yard tools. If the carbs are really dirty, I use a whole bottle in one tank of gasoline.
  23. Really glad you didn't get hurt and congratulaitons on the wing. I'm sure you will love it.
