That is one of the bikes members will be buying when their Ventures need replacing.

Well, after all we are not asking for anything special. Just don't run over us and into us, the same things cage drivers want. And especially don't pull out in front of us.

I would put a bottle of Gumout with Regane on the label or Chevron Techron in a tank of gas and run it through. The carbs will be clean, I betcha. I ran a bottle of Valvoline Complete Fuel System Cleaner through my Kawasaki with 3 1/2 gallons of gas and it cleaned the carbs up nicely. As far as I know, it has the same active cleaner that Gumout and Techron uses. Then again, I'm an amateur motorcyclist compared to many of the guys on this site.

When I was working in FL from Jan 2010 to August 2013, I worked 14 months of 6 12s towards the end of that job. I was 69 yrs old when the job ended. I usually walk for exercise and do a few exercises such as pushups, situps, squats, and pullovers and arm curls on my Total Gym. I quit exercising when I was working all that OT and was eating too much of not so good food. And combined with taking bp pills, I developed an irregular heartbeat especially at the end of the day when I was tired. When the job ended and I came home semi-retired, I slept all I needed and got back on the exercise program walking rapidly around the subdivision for 50 minutes (working up to it gradually). (and lost 20 lbs) My irregular heartbeat corrected itself. Your situation may be totally different but that was my experience with an irregular heartbeat. I did not go to a doctor to discuss this. Could have been a dumb decision on my part but as it turned out was a wise decision. A co-worker in FL who was working the same hours had that surgery, the guy who bought my 2004 Concours. He was a huge guy, not tall just very large in girth. He was back at work afterwards. He was a contract engineer and had let his med ins lapse. He mentioned it costing him $105k in med expenses. Sold several of his bikes.

Yeah, Pinwall makes a video of the bike running and they dyno it before disassembly. Might be a good place to check.

83 venture wont start

Sounds like a project. check for the dimple that indicates 2nd gear is repaired. If it hasn't been repaired, there is a huge chance it will lose 2nd gear very soon. Then Cowpuc rides them with no 2nd for another 200k miles. -
The AGM in my ZN700 is about 4 years old and still very strong. Never charged it after the initial charge. I bought it from Walmart and it is their brand Everstart but on the box it said Yuasa. Cost $85 or so. I was so impressed with it that I bought AGM batteries for my 05 Magnum, 02 F150 and my boat.

If I didn't trim them, I'd have one long eyebrow instead of two! I have lots of hair in my ears and the hair on my chest is 5" long in places and darn little left on top! One of those humiliations of old age I suppose. Compared to not getting old, I suppose it's acceptable:hurts:

Puc, take vitamin D. You Snow Hermits don't get enough sunshine and you need it. It will boost your energy. I was listening to 2 real doctors on a news show and they were talking about Vitamin D. One of them said he was taking 1,000mg/day. Said it boosted energy and your hormones. So, I stared taking it and I don't know for sure if it was the vitamin D or the warmer weather but I've been feeling so much more energetic since then. Won't hurt to try! I'm a believer! -

This is a very special site for very special motorcycles. I participate or have participated in many other sites about motorcycles, cars, or trucks and there is no another site that compares with the knowledgeable friendly people on this site. Thank You Freebird for your efforts and thanks to all the members for making this site a wonderful place to visit!

It's probably a dual compound tire with that ridge being the harder, longer lasting rubber. The softer compound tire wears away on the edges faster than the ridge. I bought a used 2004 Kawasaki Concours that had a dual compound tire that was worn on the sides worse than yours. That narrow ridge made the bike even easier to tip over in the parking lots and the Concours with its 7.5 gallon gas tank on top of the bike is maybe the most tippy bike ever made. Bottom line, I will not buy a dual compound tire for the front of a bike because of this wear pattern.

You said it has spark so it must be a fuel problem, I would think. Have you checked the compression?

Puc, you're right. It was a 1400 V4, trying to out do the Venture I'm sure, since it was offered from 85 through 88 according to Wiki. I always thought it was a straight 4 like the big Kaw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GV1400_Cavalcade

It may not happen. Suzuki gave up the big tourers didn't they?

I was stationed there from Jan 1968 to Dec 1968. I went to school for 40 weeks to learn how to troubleshoot and repair the Target Tracking, Target Ranging, Missile Tracking radars and the analog computer that took information from these radars and guided the Nike Hercules Missile to its target. Then I was sent to South Korea. SK was a hardship tour but nobody shot at me like the guys who went to Nam. After growing up in NC, I felt like I was in another world in El Paso. Nothing but rocks and sand around there! Ha! The county I grew up in was about 68% black and in El Paso, black people were rare and about 50% of the population was Hispanic. -

Where in New Mexico are you moving? I spent a year in El Paso at Ft Bliss when I was in the Army and I got used to the dry weather out there after a while. Some Sundays I would drive about 80 miles to the mountains in New Mexico just to see some trees. And I drove 45 miles north of Silver City to see the Gila cliff dwellings. 45 miles in and 45 miles out on some very crooked, hilly roads. -
That's really cool!

Toys can not be justified financially. Nor should they be. You learned so much repairing that bike I'm sure that the education is worth a ton of money. Now for the fun of riding your labor of love! The International would be a good trip!! -

CLR is advertised as being good for cleaning the calcium deposits out of your coffee maker. BUT, if you run it through your coffee maker, you better make sure you run water through the coffee maker MANY times before you use it to make coffee! Don't ask how I know!
