Swamp "A", monkey butt, etc. How do you deal with it?
BlueSky replied to Great White's topic in Watering Hole
Lamasil cream combined with Balmex baby zinc ointment will keep the monkey butt away. Long term seat comfort is another issue. My Dodge Magnum does great! -
Yeah, the "Experts" are saying more people are being bitten now because more people are in the water. That is total BS. Something strange is going on this year off the coast of NC. I have been on fishing piers hundreds of times in my life and last Saturday was the first time I ever saw a shark. 8 people have been bitten so far this year off our coast and that is WAY above normal. My wife and I drive out on Ft. Fisher beach, a 4 mile stretch of beach in the park where they allow 4x4s on the beach and go surf fishing. The last couple of times we caught almost all baby sharks. Never happened before. Since they have been biting people this year, I've stopped throwing them back in the water. Too bad they aren't good to eat, although some people do eat them.

Wow Puc! Cruising at 100 in across the hot desert! No wonder that Metzler 880 started chunking rubber!

You have heard about all the shark bites along the NC coast recently. Here is a video of sharks feeding along the coast. We went to the pier at Kure Beach Saturday to see if anybody was catching fish and we saw a half dozen sharks from the pier ranging from about 5' to 7'.

Is 77k too many miles

Berryman's has among other ingredients, Acetone, in it. Acetone is called the "universal solvent". it will dissolve almost anything. It may not be meant for carbs. I recommend using something else. -
You may need a mask with high tech filters to protect you from the paint and the hardeners. I am not familiar with today's paints. However, the last car I painted was back in the 70's. I used the latest enamel with the catalyst hardeners and it was very toxic. I used a high quality mask to protect me I thought. I did go back into the garage and check for runs without the mask and afterwards I had an unexplained low grade fever for a couple days. So, be careful!

Not long after I bought my 85ZN700 Kawasaki that had only 1k miles on it the fork seals leaked. I replaced them with OE Kawasaki seals which did not last long. Then I replaced them with All Balls Racing seals bought off ebay and I haven't had any problems since then. They are advertised to last 3 times as long as OE seals and they do fit tighter than the OE seals. So, a second recommendation for the All Balls Seals.

My wife's score is higher than mine. Her income has been a fraction of what mine was before I retired. She has more credit cards like store cards that she pays off. I recently started thinking about buying another house and after checking with a couple of institutions for a loan, my credit score was docked because of too many inquiries about my credit score!!! It's a racket. It's been about 10 years since I've owed money to anybody and another reason for my lower credit score was too much credit. I cancelled my home equity line several years ago because we never used it and they are still counting that against me.

I apologize for the off subject remark, but I like the Hemi Magnum sitting in the back ground!!

I read that 80% of 80 year old men have prostate cancer. So most of us will get it if we live long enough. Lots of people we all know have been diagnosed such as Mayor Giuliani. He has his prostate surgically removed.

I vote "road hazard".

Carb mechanic
BlueSky replied to BigClayton's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just went through the carb sync episode. I got a Motion Pro manometer for Christmas. It didn't work. Bubbles kept forming in the tubes and couldn't get them out. I called Motion Pro and they said it needed a refill kit that I should buy. Don't buy a Motion Pro. I ended up making my own with about 50' of tygon tube, 2 tees and mounted it on a vertical 2"x4" with trans fluid in the tubes. I did get my sync done with this homemade device. If I buy another carb sync unit, it will have gauges because you don't have to worry about sucking fluid into the engine with those. A manometer is no good if the carbs are way out of sync. You will suck fluid into the engine before it even starts if you are not really quick. -
If it isn't too personal, where is the cancer? Prostate? Bladder? Kidneys?

Seems like the bike comparisons I've read the writer says things like the Goldwing is so quiet and smooth that it doesn't have enough character. It's boring. So much for modern motorcycle engineering. 1930's technology with minimal updates seems to be the preference! Ha! I haven't ridden a Gen II yet and the above comment was meant for you know what bike. I would like to ride a Gen II and see if I like the cruiser seating position. I've never had a bike with a cruiser seating position. Seems to me a back rest would be mandatory with that position.

Wow! That looks like something you could live in full time and enjoy! Congratulations!

Dan, didn't you have some cracked ribs before the accident?

What about wind turbulence? I suspect the wing has less. Isn't the windshield curved back towards the rider enough to help keep the rider in the quiet zone? I convinced the dealer in Miami to let me test ride a 2006 Wing that had 8k miles on it back in 2010. I loved that bike. It was even gold in color. The low center of gravity make is easy to handle at low speeds. Lots of torque, quiet, there just wasn't anything for me to complain about except the dealer was asking $17,900 for it. I wasn't that serious about riding at that time. I looked at lots of wings on line before I bought the 89VR last year. But, I liked the 2001 up style and they started about $10K. So, I ended up buying my VR that looks like new and had only 5,914 miles on it. If I get serious about riding, I can see moving up to a Wing in the future.

Glad it was as simple as a battery! Congrats on getting back on the road!

(another) starter question

There are several on ebay. Here is a link to one from Pinwall. Search using the term xvz 1300 or xvz 13 http://www.ebay.com/itm/96-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe-Touring-XVZ1300-1300-STARTER-STARTING-MOTOR-/381233248998?hash=item58c345bae6&vxp=mtr
