  1. Welcome! I live about 150 miles south of @Van River. He is toward Jerome in the West side of Phoenix. I am committed to bring the 89 Beastie up to Phoenix one of these days when it's cooler so @Van River and I can ride together. Maybe a nice breakfast ride to Wickenburg! May not happen until Christmas vacation... But we will do this! P The Pucster did give me a name for the 89, but she rejected it. She likes Blue Beastie, but I'm not sure I do. Guess I should let her have her way, she has been very good to me!
  2. Welcome James! Thank you for the SuperBrace and lunch! I love that last picture... the shock was whispering in my ear that she hopes you will install her in Azzi as she can't wait to pull wheelies with that VMax motor!! She misses her motor cousin!! I forgot! @cowpuc .... Thanks for the "hi". The "Best" back at you!
  3. Here too. It's a bit warm for me to ride during day anymore. Seems the ole built in AC system doesn't work as well as it used to. So I ride early morning in GV... Or after 9pm in Phoenix area. Supposed to ride tonight out to Bartlett Lake. Not sure if I'll make it. Thunderbumppers to the northeast... May work their way southwest. Besides, I'm tired! @Van River kept me yakking during lunch... about wore me out. Smart man that Van River! (Kidding.... :beer:Had a good lunch with James! Got to see Azzi, her Honda cousin and a near new 1300 motor...ready for V Max conversion!!) Great day! Thanks for lunch, James!!! And thanks for the SuperBrace. Pat thanks you for getting the windshields out of her house!!
  4. Yeppers... brilliant!! Kudos...Boss man!
  5. Read somewhere last year that Yamaha is selling an articulated scooter for urban riding in the Philippines. Had similar front end but the wheels were closer together. Same suspension idea though...... Good idea for us "older" riders! Guess $13k installed isn't bad. Wonder how that will work with our fairings??
  6. I second Malwarebytes. Like that program a lot. Yammer...The point of this is simple...you've been hacked. Someone got a trojan or a script malware into your computer and locked it unless you pay the "ransom demand". If you write down the info you see on your screen or take a picture of it....then using another computer or ipad or phone...Google search the wording. Chances are you will find the offending program/script that you see and very detailed instructions on how to get rid of it. If this isn't to your liking, then you do need to take your puter to a tech and let them deal with it. BUT, I would ask the tech's via phone what experience they have. No sense paying someone to learn what to do....you can do that yourself...for free. As @yamagrl says...it is hard to protect against these things. Windows 10 is an excellent operating system. Far better than Win 8...and even a bit better than Win 7. Though I'm sticking with Win 7 Pro for now as all my editing (music and video/film) software runs superbly on it and not willing to change right now. Slight explanation/rant that has nothing to do with Yammer's problem: I've had PC's all my life (well before PC's were around there was Commodore and Altair, but that isn't germane to this discussion), and the big problem with PC's is they are open software...meaning...Microsoft has left the software open for other companies to develop software for them. This leads to sloppy programming in some cases, with vulnerabilities wide open. Apple does not do that, they have very strict rules for writing and if you won't abide by them, you can't port your program to Apple computers. Hence, PC's are more vulnerable to attack. Besides, with only a few percent of the world's computers, Apples aren't worth hacking. Let's face it, there are many more targets and far easier targets with the PC's. Seriously....and the hackers do just that. My daughter loves her MAC, I like my PC's...we do have problems at time exchanging data and that gripes me, but it is what it is. As far as being used in the media business, more PC's are in use in music and movie making than MACs....in fact the rendering farms used for today's movies are all HP's. Faster, more powerful and far cheaper. FWIW.....
  7. Well if the choke linkage is working then look into the plugged idle jets as Goose suggested. Question: Did this problem surface after new filter, etc.? If yes, then go back and double check what you did. If no...then probably got some gunk in fuel that broke loose during your maintenance and plugged up the pilot jets or some foreign debris in the new filter, etc.. Easy to do....tiny little jets. Seafoam.
  8. You will need an SWR meter, adapter cables/connectors. You put the meter in line with the antenna using the adapters. Follow the meter instructions...which basically means calibrate the meter then check the SWR ratio with a brief transmit. Adjust the top of the antenna (loosen tiny set screw on antenna coil) and move the top portion of the antenna up or down to get the lowest SWR. On some antennas that are not adjustable, you cut the antenna with snips. Take off the meter and adapters and plug everything back together. That's it... For more info, search this site... Of course if you happen to live near a truck stop that has a CB shop...drive in and let them do it. One word of advice....do not do this in your carport or garage...do it in the open. Works better.
  9. Another day. Going to clean both scoots today. That's it. Too much to do around house...grrrrr.
  10. Positive, positive, positive thoughts!!!!
  11. Took tailight apart, cleaned contacts on 89. 05.... Just looked at it.
  12. Disagree Sir Bongo of Bob. Unless I misunderstood, I have Barons risers with stock bars. I moved the rubber pucks and rotated then so they fit snug then used clear rtv to cement them to inner fairing. They are quite snug and help a lot in keeping the inner fairing from flexing. @ freebird.. You can rotate bars up some. Pics show how much room available for me at this bar position. But my front end is lower by 3/4 inch...my arms are about level....5'10". Ah...just remembered...I had clearance issues as well. Solved by adding a large flat washer between inner fairing and the two nuts/ bolts that hold inner fairing to frame. That tilted inner fairing forward just a tad and gave me lots more room between bars and fairing.... @Lug Nut, yes ... I lowered my front by 3/4 inch and stock cables worked fine for me.
  13. Got lever! Thanks Scott. Hopefully I'll have time to do some bending next week. I'm due back in Phoenix in two days... Thursday pm... Then back in Pine Friday night for ribs at Sidewinders then more deck work on Payson cabin this weekend. Not sure I like this retirement stuff..... To busy to do things!!
  14. Can I confuse the issue some? :confused07: Within the ranks of the 1st Gens, there are the Mk 1's and Mk 2's. Former were from 1983 to 1986, latter from 1986 to 1993 ish.
  15. After reading all these posts, I thought Pat and I were the only ones with problems riding. Sobering thoughts above....for sure. Don, I hope Eileen gets better fast... And as @cowpuc says.... Hope all you lop-eared varmints can get some riding time in this year!
  16. Not on scoot. Been in Payson working on cabin... Trips to home depot... Can't carry much on a bike!!
  17. Hi Scott.... Don't know as I've been out of town all week. Be back tomorrow afternoon... Will let you know then.
  18. Sounds familiar. Pat has a bad back and this morning she told me she didn't think she could do long trips anymore. She always stresses her back working around house, etc.. Hence, the research into toy haulers, RVs and trailers is back on the front burner. She did say I could ride and she would fly in and join me at destination. Reasonable alternative is trailers don't work. But I do enjoy having her with me....
  19. Rob, so far you are doing what needs to be done to get your scoot back on the road. Frustrating, yes....but will be worth it when you get her sorted out. Hang in there!
  20. Sounds like it's time to change out clutch fluid.... Again. Get rid of any junk still floating around. Note to self: Remember this posting...
  21. I should have gone 1 inch as well. I still have normal tire on front..... And will try the narrower 130 next time.
  22. Prayers Up, Patty!! Hope you heal quickly and get back on the road soonest:beer:
  23. I've been looking at toy haulers for past year. Just can't get my head around having a scoot in bedroom smelling up the place. Plus, my Yukon will haul up to 7700 pounds and I don't like the choices Within that range. The Admiral doesn't like it at all! So plan B. A trailer with a deck to haul bike on. Two problems there: 1. Steep ramp. 2. Deck can hold about 750 pounds. Great for adventure scoots, not touring bikes. So now on plan C. A smaller motorhome and a trailer for bike. Having rented lots of class A's in the past, I'm aware of the maintenance issues.. And don't like that either... But so far that's where I'm at. As far as trucks... Do not overload your truck. You are figuring things right, @djh3. Either plan on a better truck or a smaller toy hauler. Here are some new haulers for comparison..... Get some ideas then look for use ones... http://www.besttraveltrailers.org/toy-hauler-travel-trailers-top-8-brands/ This is another thought if ramp works for touring bikes... http://www.rvtrader.com/dealers/Dakota-RV-2896752/listing/2015-K-Z-MXT-CRC210KS-115194293
  24. Pinwall doesn't have one? Give them a call... They may not have one listed. Got one for my RSV... Good shape.
