  1. Hello Venture Riders. I am Steve Stewart and was a Venture Rider until april of 2011 when I had a wreck that totaled my 04 Venture. After I recovered from the accident I did not get back into riding. It was my second accident that involved head injuries and I decided I didn't want to run the risk of another. Also I have 2 sisters that are RNs and they stated if I ever got on another motorcycle they would strip the meat off my bones with tweezers before they boiled them. So for the last 10 years I have suffered life without a motocycle. Several things have changed in my life and I have bought a 2010 RSV that I am going to pick up Monday. I hope to be outfitted with good gear and back on the road in a couple of weeks. And NO, I haven't told my sisters yet. One I will not tell because she is in Hospice care and the other I will tell soon. I pray she will understand that my passion for riding is worth the risk of an accident. I am looking forward to riding and meeting some of the Venture Riders again. I made it to a campout back in 09 or 10 that I remember very well. Maybe another one can happen after the Covid wears down. My thanks to Freebird for keeping this site open and going. Steve Stewart

  3. A '91 we would refer to as a 1st gen MKII. '83 thru '85 are the original 1200cc motor (MKI) '86 thru '93 are the 1300cc motor and a body style change (MKII)

  4. We have had a saying here at VRO, plan it, and they will come. Give plenty of notice on the date so folks can work their schedules. If 1 other rider shows up, it's a success 👍

  7. Thank you very much. I'm pretty eager to learn more about this bike and the people in the group.

  8. Just bend the tongue slightly to the bent side of the trailer that will square the ball up to axle plus make the trailer easier to see out the left hand mirror.

  11. These are all good points and the reason I asked before moving forward. I’m still having a hard time believing 1000lbs hanging as mentioned 3’ off the back of a receiver lasting too long, also pushing 800lbs up that ramp ain’t gonna happen, would need to find a good hill or high curb to help. I found the same issue with u-haul being round trip and also in my area a 5 day max. so after pondering a little today I realized I’m an idiot. I already have a trailer!!!! I have an old Highlander (Shoreliner) bunk trailer from my Hobie 16 that I got rid of when I moved (sold the boat, kept the trailer). It’s been propped up against my garage wall for the past six years. I initially counted it out because of the 4.80-8 tires and low speed rating. And I haven’t put it together here because one lack of need and two lack of storage, I need to remove a fence panel or install a gate. Then I realized all I need is new highway tires and maybe adjusting the fenders. Measures 5’w X 10’l plus tongue. Single leaf spring with 1800lb capacity.

  12. I'm not diggin' it. I have a similar hauler that I use on my motorhome to haul a BMW 650 enduro bike, and it's not as easy as shown to load even that ??? 350 ??? pound bike up. Once it's loaded up, it does rock / rotate up and down quite a bit. I don't know that it's an issue, but it is annoying. I must also say that with the distance from the hitch, there's a lot of leverage there. I'm sure the weight is beyond the rated hitch capacity, and the distance / leverage amplifies the problem. I also wonder with the weight hanging 3' off the back of the bumper, how much it'd affect steering and such....changing the dynamics of weight distribution going down the road. Trailers can be a pain, but my experience tells me that, if properly maintained and loaded,....they're the safe bet.

  14. I don’t know about other people but I’m sick of these companies using COVID as an excuse for poor service.
