Gotta come to McDonalds for ice cream as it's the only place I can use the IPad. All is good-- and it's a fascinating place. Doing a ride for Homeless Vets tomorrow. He was back from France and had a great time with his son. He had some more travelling to do but you can bet he will be back by the end of August, getting ready for school. Don't bug me...and I don't want to hear about any buddies laying down their bikes! I've attached some eye candy for those (like BradT) who need some personal healing.............in the mean time. Motored up the lower canyon below Hoover Dam, did the river gauger's cat walk, found the hot springs. Climbed Wheeler Peak in Nevada, 13,063 feet, anyone else do the climb? Guest Swifty Posted August 18, 2011 Share #21 Posted August 18, 2011 HOW TO CATCH BANK ROBBERS IN LAS VEGAS.... Yesterday, I book into a seedy motel on the Vegas strip. While loading up the car the next morning I see a black guy further on up the row of rooms in my wing of the motel come out, get on a scooter and quickly take off. 15 minutes later he comes back walking the scooter into the parking lot, it is smashed up, he is limping, covered in gravel dust, holding up his shredded (very fashionable table cloth patterned) short pants with one hand, bleeding from one arm. Then I see a white woman come out of a room even further up the row. He puts the scoot on the stand and they have a heated discussion and she gets on her cell phone. Black guy repeatedly motions for her to cut the call and then he barges into her room. Few seconds later, out he comes half carrying a black woman who is screaming and moaning in pain. She is covered in gravel dust too, all beat up, she is yelling "you're going to get us kicked out of this place and sent to jail, I hate you, I hate you!" People in the motel are starting to watch. So the black dude helps the injured black woman down the row to his room, and the white woman continues talking on her cell. Black guy comes out and takes the scooter and hides it behind the row of rooms at the back of the motel. I'm about to call 911, being very concerned about the black woman's condition. About the same time I hear sirens, they sound like they are approaching the motel. They all race right by the motel, but suddenly the last fire truck slows quickly and pulls into the parking lot. I run up to them and motion for them to come over to the wing I'm in. Chief jumps out and asks if they are here for me, I say no. Then he asks where room #35 is, so I tell him, (it's the back guy's room) and then I know someone must have called it in, maybe the white woman when she was on her cell. Meantime all the other emerg vehicles get turned around on Las Vegas Blvd and they pull into the hotel parking lot...blocking my escape...grrr. The black guy answers the door, looks like he is trying to tell them he is ok, they have short discussion, he gets animated, he eventually convinces the first responders that nothing is amiss and they all hop in their vehicles and start to back out. I run up to ambulance driver and say, "you'd better go in there and help them; it is a bloody shame if you don't." The ambulance driver is one of those full-of-himself a-holes and tersely says, "I can't discuss it." Then I run over to the fire chief who is about to jump in his truck and speaking loudly using some words that might have been four letters long (what is said in Vegas, stays in Vegas!)...I argue with him that surely he is obliged to help any one in severe medical distress whether they can afford it or not...(you all know me...thinking like a Canadian who is visiting a land with signs all over the place that read, "YOU CAN VOTE FOR FREEDOM OR SOCIALISM, IT'S YOUR CHOICE")... but I digress, I know......... Anyways, from the Chief's response I realize that they don't know there is another woman in the room. So the Chief goes over to cop, they have a quick talk, and they both spin around and go back to room #35, they get passed the black guy, and go in. Black guys is starting to give me the eye across the parking lot. Immediately, ambulance guy jumps out, stretcher gets hauled out, he quickly rolls it passed my car where I'm sitting giving him a friendly smile. We all then hear much more moaning and wailing as they get her on the stretcher...she IS hurt real bad. Cops start investigating, black guy was stringing a story about trying to retrieve his scooter from someone that was trying to steal it. I can see that the Chief is telling the cop about me, Chief is pointing to me sitting in my car waiting to leave. Cop comes over to my car...in the course of our conversation I tell him where the scooter is and what I saw, give a statement. Then more cops arrive. Much later, Chief comes over and tells me, "I just want to let you know that you did a good thing today, that woman was messed up real bad, PLUS you helped apprehend a couple of people wanted for bank robbery who were hiding out in this motel." You're welcome. Keep enjoying your experiences. Maybe he used it for something else, and the cops didn't even want it for evidence,,,, but if you want, Dave can go looking for it.
