Bobcatpat Posted March 10, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2011 Could someone tell me or show pics of the proper clutch basket removal tool for a 2008 rsv?
Sleeperhawk Posted March 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 10, 2011 I don't have a pic, but why are you removing the clutch basket on an 08? Bike is under warranty.

MiCarl Posted March 10, 2011 Share #7 Posted March 10, 2011 You can put it in 5th gear and stand on the rear brake. Save the price of the tool.
FreezyRider Posted March 10, 2011 Share #8 Posted March 10, 2011 You can put it in 5th gear and stand on the rear brake. Save the price of the tool. I had heard that too.....tried it and failed miserably. Had a friend stand on the brake....still no joy. I then tried to rig up a home made thingamajiggy to hold it...and ended up breaking one of the studs out of the center of the inner boss. So, had to buy a new one. Guess which one costs more, a proper tool or a new clutch boss??? Get the tool.
FreezyRider Posted March 10, 2011 Share #9 Posted March 10, 2011 Actually, I own the tool.....just went out and checked the toolbox and there it is. I had loaned it out and couldn't remember if I got it back. I'll loan it to you if you want to pay the shipping both ways. It would be shipping from/to zip code 46711, you can check and see what kind of costs you would be looking at.....it may be cheaper to buy your own. Squeeze Posted March 10, 2011 Share #10 Posted March 10, 2011 I don't think it's a good Idea to put any Amount of such Stress to the angled Gear and the Tranny. At 20 Bucks, i'd rather buy the Tool(or built my own as i did) than thinking about a major Repair.
Freebird Posted March 10, 2011 Share #11 Posted March 10, 2011 I bought mine from Jake Wilson. Just click their banner at the upper right of the forum...refresh the page until you see it. When you get to their site, do a search for "clutch tool". It will come up a the top of the list and is $15.99. Don
RedRider Posted March 11, 2011 Share #12 Posted March 11, 2011 I tried to get the clutch basket off a Kawa Vulcan without the tool. Replacement clutch baskets are much more expensive than the tool. Get the tool. RR
