Just bought a 2009 Yamaha Royal Star. JYAVP04E39A015375 Has 3,000 miles on it.

Need to know what it is exactly like what generation, what specific model, If when looking for parts I see "XVC1300", or "XVZ1300", is it a "Star" Royal venture, or Yamaha Royal venture, or what??

Sorry to sound so dumb but I fell in love RoyalStar Venture on bill of sale.

Thank you so much. I read the history but was not sure how to properly apply it to my bike. Im coming off of a 2007 M50 Boulevard. Cannot wait for warm weather.

Do you recommend anyone in perticular for aftermarket, or oem accessories such as light bars and lighting?

www.diamondraccessories.com

www.buckeyeperformance.com

http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/ for OEM and accessories.

And dont forget the ads running on top of these pages. They offer discounts I believe.

Im sure others will chime in with their favorites.

Someone here also makes and sells a bracket that lowers and extends the driving lights away from the fairing a little bit so if you ever need to split the fairing you wont need to drop the lights as well.

Welcome to the Funny Farm. I noticed your coming off a V-twin. These bikes like higher RPM's so wind that thing out till it sounds like its screaming then wind it out some more. You'll be able to take 3rd to 90.

The salesman told me they like to wind up. Guess he was correct. I tell you though I have had a heck of a time so far finding accessories. I guess Im just missing them somewhere, but evenin the links provided I have yet to find a lightbar or headlight visor :bang head: maybe just tired, been a long day. Enjoying reading here, it is very informative to say the least....

Heres part of your order: The price of 223.00 bucks was much cheaper then Parts Shark.

There is also a mounting block for this passing light bar that someone on here makes. It will make life a hole lot easier when working / cleaning the fairing. Then there's the Butt Butler, Diamond R back rest, sonic 1.2 fork springs, etc. etc. etc

For parts I use Pioneer Motorsports out of Chaffee NY. I just recently ordered passing lamps and mount for $240. They offer VentureRider members a 15% discount. Chad Armstrong is great to deal with. http://www.pioneermotorsport.com/

Also check http://venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=82 for vendors that offer members discounts. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=21 offers the standard mods/accessories made by members (I have the Stebel horn adapter /wiring harness and the lift adapter with legs from Carbon_One and have ordered the trailer receiver from Hillis).

I went from a 99 Virago 1100 to the 09 RSV and first thing you'll find is that at parking lot speeds you'll find the Venture feels top heavy. I'd recommend the Ride Like a Pro DVD http://www.ridelikeapro.com/store/instructional-dvds which gives great riding tips for handling the big cruisers.

As for this site... great advice from members (even tourism tips!), lots of documentation (how-to's, manuals). Check out the International Rally, Meet and Eats, and Maintenance Days. Best $12 you'll spend joining the site !

I am still confsed on how to look up parts/accessories. It show soo many optional bikes I simply do NOT know what this one is. Some places call it a Yamaha royal star venture, some a star royal, then within the year model it will show different models. I am going to beat some information out of my dealer. Some things show 1999-2009 while the same thing from different supplier shows 2005-2009 venture ONLY, or royal star ONLY......

  1. I know I sound like an idiot here, but I seriously have no clue how to find guarenteed to fit parts. Someone here stated it was an XVZ1300 or somthing like that, but parts listings show like an XVZ13TFYCR or a XVZ13TFYR or a XVZ13TFSY ????
  2. How in the world do you pin down what bike is what????

The posting below is your model. Some have a "C" on the end. That is a California designation. Dont know what the difference is but anything that Cali adds usually costs more...LOL. Not sure of your color but the # is correct.

How are you determining that? Nothing I find in a vin search shows anything other then a 2009 Yamaha Royal Star. But researching the bike it says it is a STAR MOTORCYCLE. The history section does not clear anything up. I am an auto tech of 20 years and this is whipping my azz..............

XVZ13TFSY when I search that like on ebay I get 13 items. If I do a more detailed search it shows everything from a 1999-2009 but the parts do not interchange. Putting in a XVZ1300 yields same thing. Search 2009 Royal star venture and get nothing. I find it hard to believe parts are NOT on ebay, but ill be darned if I can find any. Then searching aftermarket suppliers like the links posted here I cant find anything at all other then some little chrome things. Guess Ill just go to the parts counter at dealer 80 miles away and see what they come up with.

Ruffy is correct. Likely found on a yamaha site under OEM parts while accessing the 'parts fiche'.

There is a stamp on your frame that gives you the specific alphabet soup. I believe it is located on the left (clutch) side of the bike on the frame piece that is exposed when you remove the driver seat, or possibly behind the left metal cover that covers the fuse box. It has been a while since I have checked mine, but the instruction manual actually specifies where to find this on your particular bike.

Bottom line is that the 1999-2011 Royal Star Ventures are almost identical except for the color options. Small changes included the seat on the 2001 model (went to the pillow top), the antenna mounts (changed out in 2000), mounts for the trunk (changed in 2000 I believe, maybe the later 99 models), and in 2004 there was a 'vent' hose added to the rear shock. There are a handful of bolts that also have changed through the years (going between torx heads, allen/hex heads to something else). But overall the important parts are all the same.

Additionally, the 2005-2009? Royal Star Tour deluxe is basically the Venture with a smaller fuel tank, no front fairing and no trunk. The rear fender is slightly different as it is setup for the mounts for the rear seat/backrest combination and obviously no trunk.

Overall though as long as you look up parts for your 2009 'royal star venture' there is really no difference between the different 'alphabet models' except for the California one having the additional 'fuel fume recovery' canister-- or whatever it is called. of course the Non U.S. bikes have a metric speedo instead of our 'English' units.

Oddly enough, there is some price variation on some parts throughout the years (most notably on the rear shock) so it is sometimes advantageous to shop +/- a few years on your bike model.

Great looking scoot, by the way. That color combo is really growing on me... Although I would be a little hard-pressed to get rid of my green one - since, after all, they ARE the best looking (and fastest). :witch_brew::witch_brew::stickpoke::stickpoke:

Hope this helps.

The big flaw here is you are relying on the e-bay sellers to categorize/post their items PROPERLY, which in my experience is hardly ever the case. Heck, some of the folks at the parts counter at my local Yamaha dealer doesn't even know what the venture is or what comes on it. One guy told me that it was fuel injected, another guy literally argued with me about it having a radio and CB (solved by walking over to the RSV on the floor and turning the radio ON). Of course that was followed with the statement that the radio was clearly after-market.

Have fun, good luck!! by the way if those shots were taken in your garage, I am enormously jealous.
