knifeeven Posted March 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) I am very close to tire replacement. Currently the stock Bridgestones are on there. I ride 80 miles a day to work and home minimum. July I will be riding a 3000 mile round trip to Oklahoma. I have been reading a bit on the tire front but am unsure which way to go. Back with Stock or move to Avon Venom. Any experience in this realm? Edited March 3, 2009 by knifeeven
painterman67 Posted March 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2009 no expirience with either, but from what I've read and peaple I've talked to when Inreplace my metzlers I will go with the avon venoms. David
Kregerdoodle Posted March 1, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2009 Go with the Avon`s...... they gave mine a whole new ride, are great in wet weather and are not noisy in the curves.... I have heard that the Dunlap E3`s are good as well but have no exp. with them.

bikenut Posted March 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2009 Go with the E3 dunlop with the 130 on the front. Get rid of the 150 on the front and make your bike handle allot better at slow speeds. I did mine and I travel all over the USA every year and will not go back to the big front tire. Just my thoughts BIKENUT:thumbsup:
roadwarrior Posted March 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2009 I run the venoms and love them.

I'm sure the Venom's are good too, but I've had excellent service from the E3's and smaller front.

BigBoyinMS Posted March 2, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2009 Front tire doesn't affect the speedo... only rear. The pickup for the speedo is on the rear diff.
padavidj Posted March 2, 2009 Share #11 Posted March 2, 2009 Talk about a can of worms! I tried going with the Dunlop Elite 3 after all of the feedback I recieved from the members here, but due to manufacturing problems I ended up going with the Avon Venoms and have been extremely happy with them. My friend has a Nomad and he installed the Elite 3 on his, he likes the tire but he did notice a little bit of a harder ride than what he had before. Could just be him though. eazyduzzit Posted March 3, 2009 Share #16 Posted March 3, 2009 I have an '05 RSTD and my replaced my rear with an E-3. I really like it. I used to have a roar in the curves, and it completely went away. I wish the front tire would wear out now so I could get rid of the Bridgestone on it. knifeeven Posted March 3, 2009 Author Share #17 Posted March 3, 2009 Thank you all for your input. I am going to look at the commanders and make a decision from there. Again Thanks ! Freekin 10" of snow here last night and today. Good way to save the tread on the tires but I am ready for Spring. It has been a long winter in CT. knifeeven Posted March 3, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted March 3, 2009 Thanks for all the information. Can one of you get the tire sizes front and rear for both the Avon Venom and the Michelin Commander. Again I have a 2008 RSTD. If not I can contact one the dealers on the internet.
