  1. Today
  2. Will be sanding down the excess cement
  3. Found a replacement Y pipe but was almost $300can. Phantom Wife said I've spent enough for now SO I went to Canadian Tire and picked up an adapter piece 4" long and 1 1/2 in Dia. which I was able to tap into original pipe with muffler cement and seems to be very tight and with where pipes are supported it should be OK. Will wait till tomorrow and put it back together to see if it works. If not will pull back off and try to weld. Thanks for your help, will let you know how it goes!
  4. Yesterday
  5. I am looking for pictures of this adapter/relocation bar etc. These older forums are great to search for newbies as myself, but where the pictures at? Cheers, Eric '05 RSTD
  6. Finally got to meet Steve S today, my plan was to buy him lunch and barrage him with questions about his back surgery experience since I’m facing one soon. Instead he beat me to the register and paid for my lunch and helped me to feel a lot more comfortable about the surgery. He and his wife spent an hour and a half talking about bikes and experiences with me. Another great VR member. Thanks Steve.
  7. If you can find a piece of copper pipe to use as a backer while welding it up it’ll hold your weld. Then pull the copper out when finished.
  8. If you can’t get a replacement part reasonably priced, could you sleeve the inside and then have more material to work with when you weld it?
  9. I've got a left side rear header pipe. Shipping to Canada would be stupid but it's here if you can't work anything else out.
  10. Sorry I left out what I was thinking of writing. I thought I said it was the Y pipe that is rusted off(muffler is OK)just at edge of muffler where it goes into muffler.
  11. If it's the muffler you need I might know one. Even close handie.
  12. Wish you were close by. I have a set of mufflers that came with my bike, too loud for me.
  13. Last week
  14. I don't see an issue with welding it, but I'd think there's a pretty good chance someone on this site will have a muffler they could part with. I'd wait and see before going through the PITA of trying to weld a rusted muffler.
  15. Sorry didn't put in year. 2012 and is back left pipe
  16. @PastorCurtAm already used to being ignored so won't be any different that way. Onlty time not ignored is when money is wanted from me which will be a lot more now that it is a GIRL!!!!
  17. Well since getting bike back from shop a couple weeks ago it started to sound funny at the exhaust . It wasn't too bad at first but had bike on repair table trying to find leak I couldn't until now. Was going to go to Brantford but rain and the getting louder noise stopped me from ridding today. When I got home I put bike back up on table and went ahead and pulled off left muffler to find it only hanging on by a piece 1in long. Should have bought whole exhaust from recycle yard in U.S. last time I had to replace back pipe from same problem I had when I had tires, back rotor, head bearings and tires.(right side was rusted off and couldn't be repaired. Am going to look for a replacement pipe around me but will also see if it is repairable as Phantom Wife doesn't want to put in any more money. Was wondering if I took out battery and kept ground close to break would it hurt anything if I tried to Mig weld(don't have one that uses Gas)

  24. Check the 3 wires coming from the stator to make sure they are all connected and clean. Then check the connection coming to and away from the R&R. If all is good, then start the bike, let it run for a minute, crank the rpms to 2000 and hold for 29 secs. Now you can check the voltage, first on the battery clamps and then the battery post themselves. Report what you find.
  25. Selling my 2008 RSV S, silver of course. Little over 50K on it, runs great, has a small scratch on the left side of the tank, other wise looks great. It comes with jack and adapter, various stuff I've accumulated for it and a cover or two, has good tires and brakes. CB has a grounding issue I've never bothered to get into because no one seems to use the childrens band anymore. $3000. Bike is in Fayetteville North Carolina. Contact me at hdhtr2000@aol.com or grab my phone number off my bio.
