  4. Very nice write-up! I sent my leaking shock to Dave in 2021 when I bought my 2012 RSV and its been great ever since. Been in the back of my mind that at some point I may have to replace the o-ring in the future since I plan to keep my bike long-term, so appreciate the detailed write up being available here.
  5. Cruise control quit working last week. 2007 RSV I have owned since new and am very familiar with how everything operates. It passes all self diagnostic tests listed in the service manual section 8 pages 73-75 in rest 3 it is testing the actuator, vacuum, and throttle cable. so the only thing I can think of is the gear position switch. the cruise will only operate between 50 MPH and 80 MPH in 4th or 5th gear. I can not find where the the cruise control module gets a signal to know if it is in 4th or 5th gear. i have been all over the wiring diagrams and just don't see it. Have any of you ran in to this?

  7. If it quits on you again like that take the gas cap off and see if you can hear air rushing into the tank, that will be a dead give away that the vent is plugged. The vent hole for the tank is visible in the neck of the fuel filler hole, if you take the bezel plate off that holds the speedo you should see a tube exiting the filler neck, that connects to a rubber hose that exits below the motor, You can take some canned air and try blowing air through the hose from the top to the bottom after you take it loose from the metal tube, sometime critters like mud dauber wasps will build nests in the end of that rubber hose. The 98 year model of the Tour Deluxe and the Tour Classic have the ignition switch mounted up front on the frame right behind the radiator they get cooked with all the heat from the radiator are are prone to failure, I had to have the ignition switch on my 98 Tour Classic replaced under warranty, supposedly Yamaha knew about the problem and when the shop replaced them they used a heavier duty switch than the OEM. Mine would some time fail just as you described, before the replacement, never did it again after the replacement and that bike went well over 100,000 miles. Hope this helps
  8. Great to hear you are back on the saddle. I've been riding as well over here since Monday after all the rain over the weekend. As far as your pilot jet issue is concerned, some may say to run seafoam through and hopefully the rough idle 'I assume' will go away. Ride safe.
  9. Ok. Where is the vent? I tried googling and if it's what I think I saw, does mean taking the gas cap apart.
  10. Hi @skydoc_17 I am interested in a set of these for my 2012 RSV when possible & also sent you a message. I see these were listed in 2023, so hopefully you still have some available. Thank you & look forward to hearing back from you!
  11. You have friends??? Still??
  12. You might check the air inlet on the gas cap. Could be creating a vacuum if plugged.
  13. Morning! Got the bike out for an actual ride on Sunday. Only put about 150 miles on, but it sure felt nice. I'm having a pilot jet slightly plugged on one of my cylinders though, so some work will come my way I guess.
  14. Okay, so here I am again with yet another issue on my 98 RSTD. It's running great, but every once in a while it just quits, usually at higher speeds. Sometimes I can kick down a gear and it basically "jump" starts, other times it just quits and I have to pull off the road and try to restart, which it will do...eventually! So has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking faulty kick stand sensor or even faulty ignition. Thoughts and thanks.
  15. Last week
  16. Thank you! I have enjoyed it. Just time to try something else.
  17. I'm perplexed! I lost my highway lights, so checked fuses, ok. Took lights apart and while there is power to the slave (left) light, I can't get a power reading on the right, switch side. What confuses me is if there is no power at the switch, how come there's power to the slave? I'm thinking bad switch. Thoughts and thanks.

  18. Thank you. I haven't done that. Will try to find someone who can.
  19. Have the carbs been synched? It will cause a vibration under load if they’re unequal.
  20. Selling my beautiful 2009 RSV. Low mileage, lots of extras. Garmin Zumo GPS, highway pegs, aftermarket seat, backrest, trunk spoiler with light, second aftermarket brake below the truck, chrome crash protection bars for the bags, LED headlight bulb included but no yet installed. New battery this year. Asking $9,000.00 Canadian safetied. Would be interested in a trade for an 1800 Goldwing.
  21. I did somer major restoration work on one a friend of mine bought last summer. I should ask to see if it was him.
  22. I have noticed a vibration, almost an up and down feeling on hard acceleration on my 98 RSTD. Is this normal? Air pressure is good both on both suspension and tires. Front end is tight with no wobble. On smooth acceleration there's no vibration.
  23. Both replies are good options, Paul I have read about the bootable usb drive but have not thought about the second hard drive idea, I have a few old hard drives laying around.

  25. Good morning to all! Got called in to work over the weekend and the weather was a little bit unsettled, so just caged it. Grass cut Monday is inevitable.

  27. Wouldn't the ignition bypass relay shut down the entire bike electrical system? Or does it see the load when you hit the starter button? The last month was all about the safety interlocks like the clutch switch, stand switch, neutral switch...but yes I plan to go through them again. I wondered if it's something on the low side of the starter solenoid that I don't even get the click. I'll dive into it later this week
