  1. besides the dealer, is there a suggested place to buy a service manual for an 88 VR, I am near OWEN SOUND Ontario Canada......... anybody have a spare copy?, I figure I will do a preventive maintenance this winter in preparation for a trip to the east coast of canada in late spring/early summer thanks as always in advance
  2. Guys, I am helping a friend remove some accessories to be installed on another RSV later. And he has a Trip Master tach with a water temp gauge. Does anyone know if this gauge came with a replacement thermo switch? Thanks, Rick
  3. Ok, I know that this is like my 3rd post this week but just bear with me. I have only had my bike for 4 months and have alot to learn. I recently "punched out" the stock mufflers on my RSV. It really gave me the sound I was looking for. The exhaust has been popping on deceleration (which I figured was normal and I needed to get the carbs synched). I did not have time to have the carbs worked on before my last trip to Southern California (about 800 miles round trip). The bike ran great going there but started running a little rough coming home. I set the cruise at 80mph (which according to police radar is only 75mph) almost the whole way. Also, my mpg was about 32 on the trip there and 30 on the way back. I was getting 42-45mpg around town before. So here is my question: Do I need better air cleaners that will let more air in now that my exaust breathes better or could this be a simple maintanence problem such as needing new spark plugs? Also, am I riding too fast and causing my bike to be outside the power-band creating poor gas mileage? Any and all input is welcomed. Confused, Bubba:confused24:
  4. I have a '99 RSV and have had no problems with it for the 3 months that I have owned it. However, recently when I am out riding and am running the bike under load (climbing a hill or accelerating from a dead stop) the speakers cut out. It only does this under load. I thought it might be the MP3 jack because that is what I am usually listening to but it does it whether I am listening to the radio or a CD as well. I am leaving this Sunday on a trip and would like it fixed before then. As far as I know there have not been any aftermarket mods done to the stereo. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hello! One of your forum members, who is currently without internet service, just moved from Western New York, to South Carolina... 6. If anyone is crossing WashingtonState on I-90, a good side trip is from Moses Lake, Wa. ( about mid way between Spokan and Seattle ) take a side trip north to Grand Coulee Dam. The Dam is a great destination if you have never seen it. Also, the road runs thru whats called the " Dry River Valley. " Check this link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&=Dry+Falls The Geological formations here are really Fantastic scenery This valley was formed by a Massive Floods, about 10 to 15,000 years ago. There is No River flowing thru it now. Or, from Spokan, take Hwy 2 too Grand Coulee Dam, then south on 155 to Coulee City heading badk to I-90. Also, if you are in Seattle, and want to take the Long, Slow Sceinic Route to Calif. ( Assumeing you are not in a hurry ) From Port Angeles Wa. on the Northern Coast, take U.S 101, west to Forks Wa. then follow the Coast Route U.S. 101 all the way to San Franscisco. ( If you are an Aviation Buff! be sure to visit the Old Naval Air Station at Tillimook Oregon (Aviation Museum ) and a side trip to McMinville Or. to see the Spruce Goose if you have never seen it ) This drive would take about 3 days, to a week depending on how many stops you want to make. Be Carefull!! you will see lots of Deer !!
  7. Yesterday I went and looked at a set of redwing riding boots number 968 and 970, both pairs were $249.99 Canadian. My wife and I have paid for a trip to Las Vegas for the Nascar race in march so I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a US price for the boots. I will be very near a redwing shoes on our trip there so I was wondering if I should wait or not. Any help would be great. Thanks
  8. We would have been totally lost on our trip last fall with out these bags. Yamaha sells these as well, but they cost more from Yamaha. Cruiser Backrest has aftermarket saddlebag liners, trunk liners and trunk rack bags that fit the RSV to perfection. The prices are good and their service is great. I broke a zipper the first day our on our trip. When we got back the replaced the bag right away without question. http://cruiserbackrest.com/yamaha-yamaha-royal-star-venture-c-22_48.html
