Lately I've had a little trouble closing the lid on my trunk on my 07 Venture. This morning it was really difficult. Doesn't seem to want to latch. It was dark when I rode to work so I couldn't tell what was going on. I know nothing was between the hook and the latch. I'd appriciate any suggestions. TIA, Eddie:confused24:

ergh.. disappointing wot? the latch catch on the trunk lid came off the lid last night. a clean break. Right now when you close the trunk, only one side latches. Apart from purchasing a new trunk lid, is there a proper method and materials for welding the ABS plastics together strongly enough for this area? Cheers

I need some help. I opened the truck on my 2005 RSV and removed my helmet after work today, no issue. When I got home (10 mile drive) and attempted to open the top to replace the helmet it seems that something has gotten in a bind. The lid will only open far enough to place a half helmet in it. Any suggestions as to what may be catching and not allowing the top to fully open? Thanks

I've been looking for Saddlebag lid racks in the same style as the truck rack for my '07 RSV. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey guys & gals, I was taking off my saddlebags today, got the right side off, opened the lid, took off the 4 bolts, no problem. However, left side, I couldn't get the lid open. Somehow, the locking mechanism has broken. Any of you know how to open the lid with the lock broken? I tried just about everything I could without taking a sledge hammer to it. Any suggestions?

Anyone have any problems with cracking of the plastic of the lid after instaklling the chrome metal rack? Reason I ask is the after-market trunk box I bought for my Sabre developed cracks where each hole was drilled into the lid and this Yamaha box appears to be same material - (whether it is or not not sure). I would rather have a box with no cracks and no rack than a box with cracks and a rack!

A buddy of mine has a Venture and always complained that his trunk lid did not open all the way. He would either have to hold it open or let it rest on the half way open lock feature. Anyway, when I got my Venture he was with me and one of the first things he looked at was my trunk lid. It opened all the way, stayed up and let to close it, of course you have that double action you have to do to close it. Anyway, last week, after only having the bike for 3 weeks or so, mine started doing the same thing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix for it other than removing the arm? That is what he ended up doing. I don't really want to do that. Thanks Greg

Not sure if this has happened before to anyone else but I thought I let you know what happened and how I managed to fix it. I noticed in my trunk lid that one of the metal clasps that goes into the lock/latch was flopping around. Looking closer, I saw the ABS plastic the metal is attached to was broke off and just hanging by a thread of plastic. Went to the dealer to see if it was covered by the warranty and he said he would call it in and see and order one for me IF it was, $318 for just the lid. Well, a google search for repairing ABS said to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to get some ABS cement made by Oteay(sp). It is similar to the PVC cement but formulated for ABS and it even comes in black..... Only took 30 seconds for it to bond and I left go of it.... seems to be as strong as the other one after 15 minutes...... Guess I'll see tomorrow when I close the lid for the first time after the repair. Cliff

Hey All: Thought I would post so everyone could check their hard bags for a potential problem....While putting on the bag rails I dropped my allen wrench down between the metal plate in the bottom of the bag and the cloth material going down the side....Big hands, so decided to take the bag lid off....There are four screws that hold this plate on...three across the outside edge and one right in the middle of the bag....When I went to loosen the first one along the outside edge I though it was stripped.....On closer inspection I noticed it was broken...These three screws go into molded holes (stud like-raised about 1/2") as opposed to the one in the center of the bracket....On looking further, I discovered that ALL three molded studs were broken...This plate has never been off before....First attempt....I decided that during the install, (factory) they may have been over torqued...Took to the dealer with the three broken studs (with screws)...He just called and Yamaha is replacing the bag under warranty... Thought you might want to remove the foam thing from the bottom sometime and check these...Basically, the only thing holding on the bag lid was the one screw in the middle of this mount and the material support along the bag and lid sides....This happened on the left bag (from drivers position)....Right bag was OK... Looking for a left side saddle bag lid, or lid hardware. I got to work last friday and noticed my lid was gone. The terminal ends that were krimped to the lanyards was there, but the lid was gone with the lanyards. I guess they do not hold very well at 80. Thanks

They sell these on ebay, about $50 I think. Anyone made their own? I have been trying to keep my eye out for something that might work. Thought about a visor organizer made for car/truck and then use super velcro to lid. Even a net of some sort would be nice. Place for maps and such. Give some ideas. Thanks,
