  1. I have just purchased #6180 Kuryakyn grips for my '88 VR.......any recommendations/suggestions for installation, orientation and positioning of these grips?? Thanks.
  2. I tried to find the installation instructions for the Baron risers but came up blank. Does anyone have the link? Thanks
  3. Does anyone have instructions on how to install the thermo switches. Photos would be great. There is a new one that will turn that fan on at 80 degrees. (Thank for that info tx2sturgis) What the other one is for, I don't know but there are 2 switches. Can anyone help with the installation instruction. Thanks
  4. All, Here is my story. Bought 2006 RSTD 4k miles. Picked up the bike and returned 2 days later with the dreadfull whine to a point it was making me cross eyed on a 120 mile quickie. Took the bike back in and the dealer did call the Yamaha Rep. This was almost 2 weeks ago. It was said they would be ordering the "I" basket. Well go in to pick up the bike this afternoon, as I was told she would be ready. Show up and oh sorry we forgot to order the gasket. Again I go home without the bike. Sadly of course. Sorry for the venting. Ok here is what I did.. Based on all the good info here I decided at this afternoons visit to ask to see the basket that finally showed up. Part # 4xy-16150-09-00 was on the box here is my sick part Number on the actual basket is 26H01 T-3. I am assuming I didn't get the famed "i" basket but instead got an "H". So in the event this is correct, any thoughts on what I should do? Should I let them move forward with the installation of the "h" if that is what it is or should I request them return the "H" and provide me an "I"? Lastly, has anyone seen any success on a "H" basket install? Based on the posts I have read, I have a gut feeling that as the letters go up, the more they have shaved off of the basket. Does anyone have any thing backing up my theroy? Most importantly though, again, any successes with the "H" and while they have not yet installed it should I push for the "I". I know I am new to this forum, but any direction/advice/Help anyone can provide would be MOST greatly appreciated. Thanks, Buckey
  5. I just bought a set of Kuryakyn ISO grips to install on my new RSTD. But after reading some old threads here, I am a bit hesitant about losing my bar end weights. There are some members who have machined them to accept the weights, but I do not have the knowledge, nor access to the equipment to accomplish such a feat. Are there any local (Hamilton area) members, who have done the grip installation and would be willing to meet a new member? Or anyone who has successfully mounted the bar weights to the new grips, that could give me some help? My last bike I had for 5 years, and the only accessory I had was saddlebags. I did all my own maintainence, (oil changes, chain tightening etc) but I wanted to dress up my new bike and grips is my first addition. Any and all help is most appreciated. Sonny
  6. I couldn't find an article about installing a speedohealer on the site, but right on their site is an article. http://www.speedohealer.com/your_pics/royalstar/sh_install_royalstar.pdf
  7. Does anyone have a copy of installation instruction or the parts list, for a Hitch Doc for a 2nd Gen that they could e-mail me. Found one here local but the person didn't have the bike anymore. Only the hitch. need to make sure I've got all the parts I need, plus installing it correctly. Thanks in advance for help anyone can provide. Charles
  8. I have finished with the installation of the Rick Butler Brake Modification and the installation of the TCB in companion with his original installation. I wish to stress to all of you, either one of these installations, in or by itself or in companion, will not prevent lock up of the rear wheel, as neither will the installation of the TCB on the front brakes. What these things do is give you great control over the brakes and stop the instant lock-up so common with the rear brake. You will have to practice with these installations...learn their limitations and yours. I am personally delighted with Ricks proportioning valve installation, the TCB devices......used on the front, I give a thumbs up.....used on the back by itself, thumbs down, used in companion with Ricks proportioning valve, it adds a bit of smooth control to the braking. I only put these things on this afternoon and went to a large parking lot to practice......I kept it down to 35 to 45 mph for a bit........got used to them, then romped it up to 60 and put the binders on, took me a bit to get used to how to use these new installations.......but you have such great control with the use of them.....in the space of two parking lot spaces , I can stop Crickett from 60 mph in that space with the front wheel about a foot past one of the spaces. I had no tape with me and it is those back to back spaces in the middle of a parking lot and I am traveling the full length of the two spaces with an over shot of about a foot. Any harder and the wheels lock up. Thats pretty good folks........somewhere in the neighbor hood of 40 to 50 feet. I really do wish to stress to all of you.......this is not a magic cure.....it is a means of gaining more and great control of the brakes...you will have to practice with these things......get used to them, and train yourself to use them, I cannot stress that enough...simply bolt them on, do not ever practice and the day you need them......yes the wheels will still lock up, you have to learn how to use these devices. I tried all kinds of settings......as lowas turning the proportioning valve adjustment out one turn(this was a bit too soft for me) all the way up to three turns out. With the TCB used in companion, I have settled on two turns out on the valve. I tried it without the TCB first and used one turn out......with the TCB installed two turns seems to suit me just fine. I have then safety wired the valve to prevent accidental adjustment of the device. The bottom line is if you practice with these devices......they do give you great control of the brakes on this bike.......hope the photos turn out, they show the parts.......the valve and the tap and adapters installed into the valve....The TCB installed front and rear and my safety wire job. 9. I just finish adding a trunk lid spoiler to my RSV, the installation went smoothly and I am happy as this is adding a lot of visibility to my motorcycle. The installation is straight forward but I would caution you not to follow the connection instructions, they say to open the connector and insert the wires into the female part and then put it back together. This is very risky for short and for connector damage, I would suggest removing the pins and soldering the wires on the pin then reinsert the pin in the proper slot.(see pictures)
