  1. darn patti, did'nt think don would ever part with his trike. i look at my stratoliner every time i go past it in my shop and talk about selling it but just can't pull the trigger yet. we can't wait for you to get your motor home so we can invite you up here to go camping with us. there is a new camp grounds 7 miles from our house near the river that is just fantastic. it is being built by st. peters township. its called lakeside park st. peters. check out their website. also close to mainstreet st. charles and the boat. we camp there all the time. see you in about eleven days. bill and linda.
  2. its caused by frame flex. a heavy bike with a skimpy frame. it will be alot worse with a passenger on board. i used to push my rstd to the limit all the time in the twisties. it is quite unnerving. really gets bad over 60mph. best cure is to buy an 1800 wing. you can shower sparks with dead solid confidence. handles like a crotch rocket.
  3. thats like the first cushman i had 60 years ago. gave $15.00 for it.
  4. happy birthday la. me and linda miss you. bill
  5. for all the oil experts out there here are a few oil facts. 1) most all synthetic oil is now petroleum base, made with group 111 base oil 2) motorcycle specific oil has a jaso rating for wet clutches, which is expensive to obtain so alot of oil companies don't mess with it cuz of the small market. 3) moly is the antifriction culprit that is said to cause clutch slippage, not zddp. 4) synthetic oil is more shear stable because it requires fewer polymers to stabilize viscosity, so it is superior for gear lubrication. polymers have a tendency to shear. what did we run before there were motorcycle specific oils. i've had alot of motorcycles including dragbikes, motocrossers, hill climbers , crotch rockets, etc. and have never had a clutch related problem using petoleum base automotive oil. some bikes for the street just don't have the best clutches cuz they're not designed for abuse. clutch springs do weaken with age. and a little moly may push it over the edge, and cause slippage. shell rotella 5w-40 t6 has gotten the jasso approval, because so many bikers are using it. delvac is another good bike oil. don't get hung on the motorcycle specific hype. do some research. check out www.bobistheoilguy.com . theres some real oil gurus hanging around there with tons of expertise about oil. you may find better oil for less money at walmart.
  6. to err is to be human. i'm sure we have all made mistakes that either have or could have caused serious injury or death to others. it's called an accident. they have been happening since the beginning of time. some folks are to quick to judge others.
  7. dave, you just can't leave. who will i follow for riding lessons in the twisties? tell me your going to get a wing. your to young to just hang it up. i will miss your intellect. darn swifty please don't go.

  12. linda and I are heading down to jellystone park tomorrow with the new camper. this is the second time out with it. the first time we were 7 miles from home this time we will be about 29 miles from home. sure would like to see you in eureka springs, but not able to go that far. maybe next year. glad your enjoying your Miata. sure do miss you and peg. bill
  13. buddy, i'm down to 1 bike and 2 scooters, i just bought a new camper like road kill. i'm not ready to dump my stratoliner yet but i am thinking about it. i've been riding bikes since i was 12 years old, and now at seventy years old i'm getting tired of riding. never thought that day would come. linda says sell the strat, but i have to be damn sure cuz it will be my last bike. it's sitting in my shop needing tires which have been sitting there since last winter. and i have no interest in mounting them. bill
  14. avon venom hands down
  15. have a very happy birthday.

  18. dons right on. the pl14610 is the long one and the pl 14612 is the short one. either one will fit. they will fit wings and most other yamahas also. including road stars and strats. walmart has them. I think they are $3.24 each
  19. lewis, linda and i would love to come to vogel. i don't want to commit to any more meets because i have had to cancel going to some in the last year. never know we may just show up. really want to bring linda to st. jude this year. really been depressed over health problems. old age really sucks.
  20. I sold my 1300. the stables getting empty. all I have left is my strat s, majesty scooter and one Cushman scooter. this may be my last year of riding so im going to hang on to my strat for awhile. I don't like getting old, although I wouldn't go back for nothing. once around was enough, but what a ride it's been. met a great bunch of folks on this site, and that I will always cherish. hope to see a bunch at me and buddies Sullivan meet in sept. that's going to be my last hoorah. snarley bill
  21. i sold several bikes via paypal on ebay. if the guy puts money in your paypal account it's as good as gold. if the money does'nt show up in paypal it's your call. sold a bike to a guy in california for 10 grand sight unseen and the money showed up in paypal. his dad came up from ar. and picked up the bike.
  22. linda and me are ok. the house is fine and we are blessed. even with all the devistation around here, it is nothing like oklahoma city. i can't imagine what it would be like to lose everything in 10 seconds. our tornado was a weird one. it is like it took every thing just above house level on our street. there was alot of homes damaged about a mile from us. here it was mostly downed trees and power poles. it just snapped our big trees off like twigs. thanks to all for the kind words and concern. bill
  23. we got nailed in st. Charles and harvester, mo. Friday night. what a disaster zone. never seen so many cops, fire engines, electric trucks, and sight seers. we got our street cleared enough to drive through Saturday and the electric co. has cleared most of the power lines. we might get electric today. we are supposed to have a crew come through starting today to remove some of the debris. both sides of our street is lined with trees laying down. we have a group of volunteers from the southern Baptist church coming to day to help us haul the trees and crap out of my and the neighbors yards to the street. I don't think anyone was hurt bad we had an ef3 tornado with 150 mph winds. most of the damage was from fallen trees. all my trees in back are topped out. somebody up there must like us. on top of all this the Missouri river is flooded in st. Charles. what a week end this has been.
  24. have a happy birthday. i'm not good with big numbers, so i won't ask which one. we love ya buddy. linda and bill
