  1. I can now say I have dropped Big Red
  2. I had a wreck on Interstate in Nashville. At ER now A few broken ones but... no road rash. Morphine does help. Dealing with Drs at the moment. Looks like I'll be heading into surgery shortly. Heather
  3. Here is the spec from the 86-93 manual. Min spark length is 6mm roughly 1/4"
  4. I think the carb dvd is about 7.00
  5. Here is a Sample Clip by Damon on carb rebuild. He also has an about 4.5 hour video on Vmax engine rebuild. I think they are 20.00 for both inc shipping. You will not be disappointed. YG
  6. Sorry I was referring to the starter plunger as the enrichment valve. I wasn't actually meaning the air cutoff enrichment valve. Do you have the Carb rebuild video by Damon Ferraiuolo? His email is Damon_Ferraiuolo@msn.com
  7. It will probably take more time to tinker with them in place than it will to remove the carbs and do it and reinstall. The enrichment valves also need to be adjusted to open at the same time and all close properly. Although it's a rather simple adjustment I think it would be nearly impossible to do properly with the carbs in place. I believe that if this were done wrong it might prevent one from closing fully. If you are already at the point that you can get to them it shouldn't take much more than an hour or so to take 'em off, do your repairs and reinstall. A couple of the other guys may have a different take on the issue but I think I'd just go ahead and yank 'em instead of waiting on answers. YG
  8. I don't think you can you can Like or Thank yourself so the buttons won't show up when you are viewing your own posts

  10. I think the most notable one though is the the famale speaker on stage addressing a fairly large crowd says, "I would like to talk about Erectile Dysfunction for a few minutes because it is such a common and widespread problem for so many men, men just like many of you in the audience. In fact... I'll tell you what... if you suffer from ED raise your hand. It's ok. This is a really common issue. Go ahead, you can do it, raise your hands." Still no Hands go up. Giggling, she says "It must be pretty bad... you can't get those up either!"
  11. Good news Rich! The best place to start looking is at the Starter Solenoid relay I'm guessing the solenoid relay is stuck. (Bad) I'm also guessing that the battery is currently disconnected. 1. Unplug the connector with the small wires that is going to the solenoid relay. You will find it on the left side of the bike (This will tell us if the solenoid is stuck or if the problem is north of there.) 2. Momentarily connect the battery cable and see what happens. If the problem continues then the solenoid is bad. Replace it If the problem does not continue with the battery hooked up then there is a problem in the circuit somewhere north of the solenoid. I kind of doubt that this is the issue because there would have to be multiple things all happening in concert to make the starter engage with the key in the off position. Let me know Heather
  12. The cables are now listed on the Member Vendors under Classifieds. If you are considering a set here they are. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=761&title=starter-2f-battery-cables-4awg-upgrade&cat=31
  13. Sometimes a dollar goes a long way! Put it in your "Pay it Forward" pocket. Glad you got it running. These carbs can be finicky about certain things. It's almost like turning a light on or off... when it's correct they work properly, when they aren't correct they don't and there is usually little middle ground.
  14. Do you mean that you have found the resolution to the problem you mentioned in Main jet needles different lengths? Did this help?
  15. First things first... I'll betcha a dollar that they are not seated properly. Just take 'em apart, then make certain that the white spacer is in place against the cir-clip. Drop the needle with the spacer and cir-clip into the slide. While holding the slide in one hand twist the needle while applying a gentle outward pull on the needle. When it finds it's place hold it firmly and insert the washer and spring with something such as hemostats . Then put that plastic nut on. This can be a bit tricky. Do all four slides. Measure Refer back to "First things first" Send dollar.
  16. I think they'll get a notification. I have been "pouring over" the parts diagrams and I see there are subtle differences in the part numbers. Some of the jets are larger in the 1300 than on the 1200. But, I'm not sure about the needles an emulsifier tubes (main nozzles). There could be differences but I'm pretty sure there is not 1/4 difference in the needle lengths. Have you removed the needles from the slides and stood them on end?
  17. @cowpuc or @Venturous Randy should know the answer to this. Randy has mentioned to me about tinkering with the spacers. @skydoc_17 probably has an answer about it also.
  18. No. They should be the same length and the protrusion through the slide should be the same on all four. 6mm is a lot. The spacer on the needle has an alignment pin that is likely not seated in the corresponding hole in the slide. These 2 different threads about diaphragm replacement highlight what I'm referring to. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?32121-Ebay-Carb-Diaphragm-Replacement! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?19271-Carb-Diaphram-Replacement
  19. Is the clutch switch from 84 with cruise the same as on the Mk2s?
  20. Any reason to wear a helmet is a good reason... Even if it's only to listen to music.
  21. When I posted the link it came up as a video. I can pm or email it. You can also open it in Youtube by clicking the Youtube link in the bottom right corner of the video while it's playing. I think the most important point about all of this is having a plan if the wobble starts! You have to know how to handle it Right Then. You only have seconds to correct it before it gets out of control.
  22. I was just viewing a couple of other videos and one said to lay down on the tank that will change the weight distribution.
  23. Here is 2 of them http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Lever-Switch-Yamaha-XV-1200-TD-K-Venture-Royale-1200cc-1983-/361655991840?hash=item5434607e20:g:d0YAAOSwqfNXkl1J&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Lever-Switch-for-1983-Yamaha-XV-1200-TD-K-Venture-Royale-/301946296362?hash=item464d66d82a:g:w3kAAOSwhRxXJ2dl&vxp=mtr
  24. That's Scary! I have read or heard or seen a video or something, somewhere that said how to recover from that kind of wobble is to PUSH FORWARD ON THE HANDLEBARS REALLY HARD. Knock on wood... I hope I never find out for sure.
