I've had one of those "fake" contacts since the late 90's when I first learned about it and from what I understand, it's still valid today. I have never had my email hacked. (maybe just lucky?) ..
yup, that is a real PITA.
There are a lot of inexpensive programs available that allow a person to "image" their computer. Basically, you boot your computer with either a CD or USB with that software and "burn" an image of your hard drive onto another media such as an external drive.
If your system crashes, you can boot it up with that same CD/USB and re-load it from the image. Always back up your data separately somewhere so it doesn't get lost.
This way, you can be back up and running with everything you had in a very short time... usually 1/2 to 1 hr.
That's unlikely that they "logged into" your account.
What is most likely is you have a virus / bot on your own computer that has hacked your email info and is sending it direct from your computer. It's relatively easy to send out emails to a bunch of people using someone else's email addy.
Best to run some anti-virus, malware, and spyware checks on your system.
Also, in your email, add a new contact. Give it the name of 0000000 (zeros) with an email addy of 000000@nowhere.nz (or similar)
viruses and bots that hack your email this way generally will stop on the first email addy that fails delivery and that email addy would be the very first one.
On second thought, I can see now what you're saying ... "up to date version on older equipment".
However, how old? My last install was on a 5 yr old system and it went smoothly. Linux has always, to my knowledge, been compatible with older systems and in fact, is touted to work with fairly minimum hardware specs. Have they gone and changed things?
Is this something that is happening lately?
I ask this because, as I mentioned, I haven't done a Linux install for a while but I have done many installs on several different systems dating back to oh, maybe 1998 or 9 and never once had a video driver problem, or for that matter, any problem with a Linux install.
Yeah, I was getting a bit confoosed as well.
If it were me, I would install Linux and get it up and running first ... then install XBMC.
Perhaps the XBMC can't work with the hardware whereas Linux by itself can ???
I don't know... never tried XBMC and haven't done a Linux install for a year ... maybe two.
Very interesting and I have been a believer of that philosophy for many, many years. Sometimes we don't realize what the reason is until much later in life ... but it goes right along with "for every action, there is a reaction".
Didn't mean for you to be offended (if you were) ... I was simply using your comment as an example ... wasn't directed specifically at you. My apologies.
And, I did say it looks cool ... in other words, I like it too but can't say it's awesome nor futuristic simply because it's not (to me)... that said; however, I have seen some pics of other F6B's where, for one, the guy did "personalize" it and that did look awesome.
Victory comes out with a bike that is so "futuristic looking" that a lot of folks called it FUgly ... Honda comes out with a stripped-down Wing (and that's all it really is) and we have folks calling it "awesome futuristic" ....
:confused24: :confused24:
It does look pretty darned cool tho! :cool10:
Man, these are saweeeeeet!! ... I wonder if they'd fit my '03 "Punk'n"

We would love it if you two could come this way and stop over for a visit. Man, it's been so long since we've seen you but those memories of our trip down there are still very alive!
