Class 2 Error ?? Can't find information
KIC replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks Kevin, We are now just putting it back together. still no output. seems that the pump is trying to suck air in, but nothing coming out. checking the disiccdent canister to check it. -
Working on my son-in--law's 87 CLASS system. (1Rooster's old bike). His CLASS started having the E2 error. Could not find anything in any threads covering E2. Re soldered the board just in case. Anybody know what the E2 error means ? We have the pump kicking on but it does not seem to be pumping air. Disconnected the hose and can not feel any air even though the pump is pumping. Then the pump will stop and the E2 error shows. Color me confused. Any ideas ?

I agree on the KLR650. I loved my KLR and only sold it to get my 87 for my son. My next bike is another KLR650. They are great for street and dirt. They can also be carried on a hitch rail, just make sure it is a heavy duty rail and use one of these which are worth their weight in rhodium. I recommend these to anybody who pulls a trailer or uses any type of trailer hitch carrier. http://www.drawtite.com/vh070hd.html

I also added washers to the dash grommets. Get a 10mm closed end ratchet wrench to do it. It makes it a whole lot easier !!

Speedo Excessive Noise

I'll call Brian and have him check in here. I have one of his screw on grease fittings. If I was home i would put it in the mail and loan it to you. But I am TDY in Northern VA for another 6 weeks. I used mine recently and it seems to work better and faster than removing the unit and tearing it apart like I did the first time. -
This video shows the area that I was talking about. https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play;_ylt=A2KLqIQ3Y95VNy0ADessnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTByNDY3bGRuBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDdmlkBHZ0aWQDBGdwb3MDNQ--?p=Air+Conditioning+a+Frame+Condenser&vid=0fa851544a977373212e4c0272866ec6&turl=http%3A%2F%2Ftse2.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DWN.JDQiAw%252boYS36avSmccmMLw%26pid%3D15.1%26h%3D200%26w%3D300%26c%3D7%26rs%3D1&rurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DPG1eNZYgMvg&tit=Cleaning+Air+Conditioning+Evaporator+Coil+-+Video+2+of+2&c=4&h=200&w=300&l=279&sigr=11b8u2914&sigt=11odrst42&sigi=12nqvtb8h&age=1389472861&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Av&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&hsimp=yhs-001&hspart=mozilla&tt=b

Stator cover gasket?
KIC replied to mxvet274's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep. The gasket gives the clearance:080402gudl_prv:. -
there is a part called a something like a A-cooler. It is above the fan portion. If this has never been cleaned it will fill with animal hair and dust and when it plugs up the air flow which then will freeze with the condensation from humidity. This will block the air flow as it freezes then melts and overflows into walls and the floor. I lived through that so it sounds like you might have the same problem. If you can remove the front plate of the A-cooler and clean the inside of the A-cooler. When mine was taken apart the hair and stuff came out looking like a piece of carpet. Then the A/C worked great.

Headlight Problem 86 venture Royale
KIC replied to Tatonka82's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My problem was also the switch was dirty. It will not come all the way out unless you pull it out. I just sprayed electrical cleaner in the switch and it has worked ever since. Good luck. -
does your 83 have the bypass valve ? and if so is it set correctly ?

I don't have any answers on the motor issues, but I sure want to know the story about the prior owner.. Maybe the original motor is keeping Hoffa company....

It's so sad to see two 2nd Genners lose control and cause so much carnage on that beautiful mountain road. I heard the tree was in satisfactory condition and the asphalt will recover.

KIC replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great idea. Love reading about the differences. Just remember to finish the list with the differences between the 1st Gen and 2nd Gen: 1st Gen: Fastest 2nd Gen: Slower:bang head: -
weeping oil above kickstand
KIC replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have to redo mine. I must not have got mine clean enough and getting tired of the burning oil smell when I first start to ride. -
Beautiful bike.

Driver backrest. Who's got one? What do you think of it?
KIC replied to Great White's topic in Watering Hole
I have one on my 89. I like it a lot. Makes it a little harder to mount and dismount but I have developed a technique to get my leg over the seat. ( I am 6'1'') My wife has stated to complain that it is harder for her to get on with it on and that for long rides it is uncomfortable for her since her inner knee area gets pressed up again the brackets and her legs are too spread for comfort instead of up against the side of the seat. I know the 83-85's are a different configuration than the 86 on. Luckily mine is an easy on/easy off. -
1st Gen plug caps and plugs
KIC replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well I finally installed the Iridium Plugs and the new caps. Added 2 lbs of air in the front and back tires to bring them up to spec and changed the oil. hen I ran to Harbor Freight on a little ol test run. I would like to thank who ever took my old bike and left the rocket ship behind !! That thing was flat out scary ! I will definitely be getting a ticket soon. I easily over redlined it to 8500 in no time, hit over 60 with very little ( 1/2?) throttle in 1st and 2nd and immediatly backed off of 3rd back to 2nd to slow down. So the things I have done to my bike that has really transformed it from an OK runnig bike into a screamer was: New Diaphragms New wires New Iridium plugs New caps I know the diaphragms made a huge difference and the wires made a difference, each one incremental. The caps I think were a big problem and adding the Iridium plugs was just icing on the cake. I will now have to give my dear friend Dave and his 2nd Gen a two day head start to keep up. Oh how happy life is... -
1st Gen plug caps and plugs
KIC replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I could not find the exact cap so I looked into what the NGK Numbers meant since I could find caps close to the YD-5F but with a different letter. I also bought the DPR8IEX-9. (Stock number 2202) plugs...but without asking how much. I was quite shocked when the plugs came to $32.00 +tax Well I will install the caps and plugs this weekend and see what happens. resistor_covers.pdf -
So I did a search. Read some threads where it was discussed as to the use of OEM caps or the NKG caps (YD-5F) and NGK plugs. So it looks like the NGK YD-5F caps are OK. But I could not get a good read on which plug to use with them. DP8EA9 non-resistor....or DPR8EA9 resistor plugs ?? I have the DPR7EA-9 in it now and want to get the best plug for my 89 1st Gen. As A side note: I have noticed in a lot of threads, parts are discussed between knowledgeable members. The problem is, it is rare that the actual part numbers or replacement part numbers are actually listed in the thread leaving us who read the thread looking for information wondering what part to look for.

Cool video. From the title I was expecting a shot of some lawyers on the beach. There was some video from Discovery's shark week that showed from a airplane's view, thousands of migrating sharks just off the coast (beach) of Florida ( if I recall correctly) and the people were on the beach oblivious as to what was just under the surface a little ways out. Found the video: https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=shark+weeks+video+of+sharks+from+plane&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001

Hey who left the door open and let that female type in here ???? Geez...next thing you know people will be waving a Confederate flag around in here... OKAY... just kidding.... about both of those issues.. What could those pipes really add to a ride that would compensate for the $1,800.00 investment ??? Now if they would make a 2nd Gen go as fast as a 1st Gen, then maybe there is a value....... Just figured I would give Puc a day off and take the heat for sarcasm...

So what trunk is that off of ? Looks great. I am thinking of taking the trunk off of my 87 and building a hitch bolted frame to mount a second trunk on it for a trip. Easier to haul than a trailer. How is yours connected/bolted on to your bike ? Answers Eck answers !! Venturing minds want to know...
