  1. I may be hallucinating, but I do believe that someone here sells/makes some quick disconnect tool-less fasteners for those saddlebags. Anyone else remember that? Joe
  2. Someone please post a link to this story about HP dropping Windows 8. Might also want to send an email to HP telling them about their decision to drop it, since it seems they may not know about it. Check their website, still offering Windows 8. The only difference is, they are displaying Windows 7 prominently for those who didn't know they could still get it. If they have truly announced that they are abandoning Windows 8 I'd like to see that article.
  3. OK, if it runs great under load but sputters and spits with no load, then it is like running too rich. Could be that your choke butterfly is not opening all the way causing it to stay partly choked. I'd check that first. Next in line is your air filter. If it is plugged up you'd have the same condition. Joe
  4. Sena makes a 2 channel BT streaming device, model SM10. They also sell a cable that will plug into your rider headset connector and the other end plugs into the input on the SM10. It will pair with 2 separate headsets, one per channel (at least with Sena headsets. Not sure if it will pair with the Scala or not). I have one that I use with my Goldwing. All audio put out by the sound system will stream to your helmets. Check it out at senabluetooth.com , might ask in their forums if anyone else has paired with Scala. Just to be clear, this will stream the output of the sound system. Does not give you the ability to transmit over your CB using the Bluetooth headsets. Good luck, Joe
  5. Hey Dennis, have you ever played around with Virtual Machine software? It is basically a program that creates a "machine within a machine", or a Virtual computer on your existing system. This would allow you to run an older version of the MAC OS in the virtual machine and then run your Adobe software within that VM. VirtualBox is a good and FREE VM hosting software. Just an option if nothing else works out. Joe
  6. Congratulatons, Bob! That is a great looking rig, I'm sure you'll love it! You'll be able to haul whatever you want with all that space!
  7. Is that bike an Interstate model? Must be if it has no reverse. The Aspencades did have reverse in those years. My 94 was an Aspy and had reverse. Nice rig there. Go for it, you'll love it. Joe
  8. Says right on the ordering page: REPLACEMENT LOWER WIND DEFLECTORS 7Jurock offers replacement Lower Wind Deflectors for YAMAHA ROYAL STAR VENTURE 1999-UP Models. Lowers really help to reduce the wind by directing it around you farther out and farther back. Handcrafted from 0.187 (3/16") thick cast military aircraft grade acrylic. Available in clear and Light Gray. Lowers are manufactured to order. Edges are hand ground and polished.
  9. Contrary to what most people will tell you there actually IS a fix. Here's how I fixed mine: 1. Change the clutch basket as Don mentioned to an I basket. Will cost a few hundred $$ if you do the work yourself. Did this to mine. 2. Run Rotella T-6 full synthetic oil after changing. Did this to mine. 3. If still chirping, add MotorKote to the oil. No, it will not cause your clutch to slip but may help quiet it down some more. Did this to mine. 4. When none of that works, list the bike on Craigslist and let someone else worry about it. Did this to mine. 5.Then buy a Goldwing. Or a Victory. Or just about any other touring bike. No chirp! Good luck. Joe
  10. Thanks Annie, appreciate the report. Guess I'll go ahead and get one as well. Joe
  11. Well, when those hit the streets there will be a lot of head scratching going on. Folks will have a hard time deciding whether that spot under the Harley is an oil leak or a coolant leak! :rotf:
  12. Wonder if they are "lenient" like Honda is...they are lenient until you request any warranty service that they can possibly attribute to the miniscule possibility of pulling a trailer. Then they try to wiggle out of it using that excuse.
  13. That is the most politically incorrect, insensitive thing I have ever read. And I LOVED IT!!! Copied it quick and saved before it gets "mysteriously blown away"!
  14. Annie, An option I have been considering is utilizing a wired "throat mic" for CB only. Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Weather-Proof-Throat-Mic-for-Harley-Davidson-Radio-/350267648022 I kind of hate to go back to the wire, but may do so since I only use CB on longer group rides. Plug and play for the Harley, and I'm guessing for the Venture/Goldwing as well. Joe
  15. I have the Sena SMH-10 headsets and have been researching this for a long time. As of today, the unit from Spoiled Biker is the only viable way that you will be able to accomplish this that I have come across. For those who own the Sena units, you can integrate either the FRS 2 way radios or one of the hand-held cb units (Midland, etc) to Sena's SR10 receiver and do it that way. Still a couple hundred bucks to do it. No cheap way that I know of. Several Goldwing riders have posted reviews of the Spoiled Biker units, and the summary is that they work well. However, when finishing the cb transmission you have to press a button to go back into stereo mode if you are listening to music. Joe
  16. Annie is looking for a way to integrate the CB into the bluetooth headsets. The J&M won't do that if I understand correctly.
  17. Just have to ask....please forgive me.... Did you see a girl in a flat bed Ford slowing down to take a look at you??? Take it easy.
  18. WAY TO GO, DARRIN!!! You have won a hard fought battle and your body will be all the better for it...not to mention your wallet!!! Back when I was a smoker (early 70's) I paid about 35 cents a pack! I cannot imagine how people can afford to smoke these days, especially if they are a 2.5 - 3 pack a day guy like I was. Again, Congrats to you! If you can whip that habit, you can shed the pounds too. Hope to see you guys sometime this year before the riding season gets away from us. Joe
  19. It would sure help if you posted detailed pictures so we could tell.....
  20. Take a look here: http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partswindshieldsyam.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HERE Almost to the bottom of the page. These would help.
  21. Those are made by Kuryakyn. I've not read much good about them from people who have tried them.... Joe
  22. She will still feel the same amount of buffeting...just won't feel direct wind in her face. Much of the buffeting comes from under the mirrors. Install the hand wings from Baker-Bilt and the buffeting will be much less. Joe
  23. Yeah, we hear that from a lot of HD riders......dang things won't run long enough to get you anywhere!
  24. If you want to run a full synthetic, why not Rotella T6 which is 5W40 and rated for use in motorcycles as well. You can buy a gallon jug at WalMart for about $21....as opposed to $12 per quart for the Bikemaster!! I have used the T6 in 2 Goldwings and 2 RSV's, great oil! Joe
  25. You work fast! I just thought I was going nutty at a faster rate than normal. Sorry for the wrong location. Joe
