Thanks for the advice guys. Will proceed cautiously. I must admit that because I am going to take a cross country trip this summer I may lean toward the idea of just getting a new battery for safety's sake. MikeWa, I will be in Seattle around July 17th and will need service and tires. Any suggestions as to a good dealer? I saw one just south of Kent.
Thanks all again
Brothers and Sisters- I purchased a new battery for my 03 in 2008 but never charged it up or installed it because I swapped that bike for a 2008 that Fall. My question is whether you all would think it advisable to charge it up now and install it this month. I am not familiar enough with the life of a battery to be sure of it's reliability. Thoughts and thanks.

I ordered a tank bib, gas cap cover and water bottle holder from Nancy. From start to finish the service was creative, really custom and one of a kind, and very pleasant. You won't go wrong.

Gary N is right. Don't waste your money. Take the ferry to Cozumel for an outing and I would recommend a guided bus tour to Tolum or other ruins. Better investment of $.
I used that book to "pre" view favorite sectors and specific roads for a 5 wk. 13000 mile jaunt that sort of boxed the country and significant parts of Canada as well. I ended up having experienced a large percentage of the
roads in the book before I got back.
Very useful before and after the trip.
My '01 shock was replaced at 24K and I am now awaiting shipment of the replacement for that one (41K). I REALLY don't like the way a bad shock affects high speed stability and hope this replacement will be an improved version.
