Noise on PRV175 coming from HID Ballast
djh3 replied to syscrusher's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Thanks for info. I am pretty sure the one I linked is not the "exact" one I bought. LOL Its been awhile back and its not in my listing anymore on e-bay. So I just threw a quick search in and that one looked sort of what I got. I just installed mine on the power for the feed for my GPS I think. Hmm now I dont really remember. Shoot might have even been the 900 Vulcan now that I get to thinking about it. Oh Boy whats that mean???? -
Where do I go from here??
djh3 replied to Condor's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I meant to flush out the purple power. -
Hmmm Maye some additional lights like my bottom ones? That way you could point them where you want them a little better. My HID had sort of a "no mans" zone with the halogen bulbs in the passing lights. I think its better with the LED's. The little ones I have mounted down by my feet are off e-bay and were around $35. 1200 lumins

I think if you look at Autozone the purple stuff is cheaper than the Simple Green. I'm trying to think of the other thing I read to flush your system out on like a regular coolant change. I want to say it was vinegar at 2:1 water/vinegar. Maybe if you are going to do the flush with the degreaser take the thermostat out so it flows a little more. Or drill a bunch of holes in the unit you are taking out so it will by pass water a little faster. -
PHEW that could have ended much worse than it did for sure.

Let the discussion begin.

I have read alot about the HD sound system. Now are you all talking about it thru speakers on the bike? If so how is the comms??? I think any new bike is going to have to have Bluetooth connectivity. Just makes sense in today's market. As far as speakers on the bike, not a plus in my book, around town they are fine but on a cross country trip I use either ear buds or speakers in my helmet. Even now I am considering going SMH10 route to get rid of wires and connect bluetooth. -
Noise on PRV175 coming from HID Ballast

Here are some others. Noise suppressor 1 This is like the one I installed. -
OK here is the bulbs I put in the housings. Kind of like these. Only with the H3 bulbs. These would probably work, you would just want to make sure there was a replacment LED bulb available if thats what you decide. Also would need the correct connector, but it looks to be a standard type for automotive fog lights. My 02 Durango has connectors like this.
-
I will have to look the bulbs up. The housing I guess you would call it is an Adjure clear. It came with Halogen bulb I think H3. I replaced it with CREE LED. Will have to check wattage.

I understand the jacks are "nice to have" but if I was looking at a used unit I do,t think it would be a deal breaker if priced rite.

Fuel Pump Connector

OK Im sure he will apreciate it. -
On the traffic thing. I have a 765T, but from what I have read for most all Garmins (I wont say ALL because that's to wide a net) but most use the same traffic/road condition network. If a municipality dont update it you dont get info. I have used mine thru lots of big cities like charlotte, Orlando, Atlanta and its not very accurate. I have found its about 20 min behind the actual conditions as far as traffic tie ups. So when my cord started going bad, the little clips that old it in unit broke. I bought just the mini usb or whatever it is connector that goes in. It has no traffic antenna so that part dont work. I wouldn't plan my trip based off what it shows. Just my .02

One way to get around so to speak on the electric jacks is just get a electric battery powered impact and run them down to touching with that. Then fine tune the level with whatever is required from there. Not as fancy, but hey if that what the unit has.

Fuel Pump Connector
djh3 replied to Donvito's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don, check this page out. Look down the page until you get to "2 pin 2.8mm" See if that dont look pretty close to the animal your looking for. Bad thing is minimum order is like $5 or something. But I will need to make an order to him soon so maybe if your not in a rush I can order it and have it for you. -
Looks just like my Husqvarna mower. There is a rod in the back that puts gearbox in or out of gear so you can push it in a shed or move it around without engine, essentially neutral. So when engine is running with the rod engaged the large pedal is forward and the small one on the floorboard is reverse. The pedals move a rod on the transmission and a belt spins a pulley on top and produces fluid pressure. Only problem I have had with mine in over 4 years was it got to a point rev was not much power backing up and slow. Did some research and put a thicker fluid in, but I think once I got it apart the actual problem was a lot of grass and debris loaded up on top of gearbox would not allow push rod to make a full swing. The trans must work because I think thats about all you can get in anything anymore.

I was talking the other night with a fellow that has I think a 12 Glide of some sort with bags. His is fine, and previous years are fine. So I guess in 14 they had to make a better mouse trap and it didnt work out so good. Geeze sometimes you got to wonder what the boys in design and engineering do all day when they are supposed to be working. I have said for a very long time "if you want a GOOD train wreck, you got to have an engineer" Why would they change something that has obviously worked for like 15 years? I dunno, job security maybe??

Is this a clutch adjustment issue?
djh3 replied to Bert2006's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well easiest thing to start with is service the fluid. But I'm afraid you have the dreaded clutch slippage. But from what I read there is a somewhat easy fix if you are mechanically inclined. there is a simple spring you can replace on the OEM set up and be good as new. Or you can go in and replace some friction disks. But which ever you do you will still need to replace the spring as it is what is supposed to be holding pressure on the clutch disks. It has gotten weak and is not clamping tight. Thats my best guess. Check out the Second Gen Tech section. -
Fuel Pump Connector
djh3 replied to Donvito's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yup pretty sure Joe over @ cycle connectors. has got them. Its a 2 pin rite? I will look and see if maybe I have one here. Whats on the replacement pump? -
Im considering going the Sena SMH 10 route. About the same price and it ties all the stuff in via bluetooth. GPS, phone and comms

Midsrv, have seen an outback with similar floorplan. The rear bedroom is a slide out for a queen bed and its a srep up to the bed. But it does give you floor space.

I really thought the Vetter fairings were cool. Take a naked bike add you type you liked (they had a couple) and you had a custom touring bike. Well built and didn't crack and rattle apart like some (ahhmm) do. And easier to fix then plastic. but I have to admit, a vetter fairing would look stupid on say 1500 vulcan. I kind of like the angular features. Thus being OK with the Vision by Victory.

The rear fender is UGLY. Have to chop it off or something.

32mm Venture carbs and cams swap
djh3 replied to KSRIDER10's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Nope Not me. If Im going 5K or more in, this carb dinasour is going and ther will be a Victory in my garage. I just figured with the V-max being injected for years that stuff would all pretty much swap over. Oh well just an idea.
