The battery on my V Star 1300 finally died at age of 4 years and 3 months, pretty good lifespan in my thingking, went to Wallyworld as I normally do to buy a replacement battery, normally in the $50.-$60 dollar range...........wrong, they had 2 batteries, one was 59, the other was 86.00, and these are not Yusa, they were Walmart brand.............last battery I bought for the Venture was aroun 46.00. Shopped around, no luck , so I went to a scooter shop here in Newnan, he was $4.00 cheaper for the Yusa that the Yamaha dealer, when I told him the price difference, he said cant let that happen, he said he would let me have the Yusa for 79.95. So I have found a shop that will beat the big guys prices, I didnt expect him to come down by $30.00. I will have it by Thursday, and I can start riding again after not being on the bike since Thanksgiving due to my surgery.

I know your heart aches for those that you have lost, and to have lost so many of your loved ones to this insidious disease is too much for anyone to bear, my intention was not to shame anyone or bring back any bad memories, but to bring to the forefront how much help we and everyone else also who supports St. Jude, The Cancer Society, The Susan Kohman Foundation and all the other entities that are helping in finding a cure for cancer. I have lost both my parents, my wife lost her biological mother and her stepmother, & her brother in law to cancer and several other of her family members and several of our friends are currently fighting that battle. I lost 2 of my oldest friends from high school, I just want to do all I can to help find a cure to this disease in my lifetime so others don't have to suffer this disease, and to help the kids that are afflicted lead a normal life that is not possible when they have Cancer. Dick, I apologize if this post made you uncomfortable, that was not my intention. Our prayers go out for you for your losses.

My team failed to show up and the coach failed to try to remedy that by putting his other QB in, not saying we could have come back, but it least I would have tried. But on the bright side LSU still has the better record. Anain, my hats off to the Tide, I hate to say it but Saban outcoached Miles. There will always be next year.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and of your sisters injuries. I will keep you and her in our prayers. Yes we all have our battles and no one is more important than any other, the main thing is to keep fighting for whats good for your cause.

I am not a big Tebow fan, but he gets a pat o the back from me for a pinpoint pass to a wide open receiver, great play call on first down, nothing to lose and everything to win. Congrats to the Broncos. They are my favorite AFC team. Now if they make it to the SB and the Saints make it, can he perform like Drew.........It would be a very interesting matchup to say the least, but my heart and soul lies with my old hometown team, The New Orleans Saints, formely also know as the Aints in my younger days!!!

I was hoping more members would have read this article if I posted it someplace else besides the watering hole, but out of all the members we have only 112 have done so,which I find disheartening. I may catch some flak from the moderators and the boss, but I feel very strongly about this as those who know me personally know. 12 year old girl looses battle to cancer...........

I know some of you here on VR may get tired of my postings about St. Jude and Cancer Research. But it is stories like this that break my heart and make my determination even stronger to raise funds to help find a cure for cancer. Small donations from large groups such as ours make a difference. I am not asking for donations, I am pleading for help for all the young cancer victims out there. You dont have to make your donations to me, you can make them via the Mean Dog Tribute page, you can become a partner in Hope at the St. Jude Web site. Its not about what I can do, its about what we all can do to make a difference. Please read this story and tell me it cant happen to you or your loved ones or a friend, cause it happens every day, every hour, every minute to someone's loved one. I know, it has happened to me, and just about every member here losing someone to cancer or someone battling cancer. "NEGU" WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!! RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California girl who became a nationally recognized face of child cancer with a blog that chronicled her fight against brain tumors has died. Jessica Joy Rees was 12 years old. Jessica's family announced her death on her Facebook page, stating that her 10-month battle with brain cancer ended Thursday. Tens of thousands of people responded by posting updates to the page in a show of support that includes "likes" and prayers. By Friday afternoon the outpouring surpassed Jessica's goal to get one "like" for each of the estimated 50,000 American children with cancer. The Orange County seventh-grader, called "Jessie" by family and friends, began her blog and Facebook page after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in March. A second tumor was discovered in September. While some of her posts discussed her struggles as she underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments, others urged readers in dozens of countries to support pediatric cancer research and to pray for other children with the illness. She always signed her posts with the acronym "NEGU" (NEE'-goo), short for "never ever give up." Also, she and her parents started The NEGU Foundation, a nonprofit organization to raise awareness of pediatric cancer, support sufferers and raise money for research. The foundation sold and provided thousands of "JoyJars" stuffed with candy and toys to sick children. More than 3,000 were sold and distributed in 27 states last year, according to the NEGU website. After her diagnosis, Rancho Santa Margarita youngster received tickets to "American Idol" and arrived with signs that read "NEGU Casey" to support contestant Casey Abrams, the Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/yJwyF3) reported. Co-host Ryan Seacrest also allowed her to announce country singer, and eventual winner, Scott McCreery. Jessica wrote on Facebook that her mission was "to encourage kids fighting cancer to Never Ever Give Up by spreading hope, joy and love. A cheerful heart is great medicine." A celebration service was scheduled for Wednesday at the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, where her father, Erik Rees, is a pastor.

My Father took a bad fall
DragonRider replied to Flyinfool's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Prayers and good thoughts going up for your dad and your family. Similar thing happened to my father in law at 93. Falls at any age above 60 can be devastating. Sounds like he is in good hands, the Dr.'s and our Heavenly Father. -
Forthose of you who met Brayden Shields and had your picture taken with him, I just read this post of facebook by his mom, Misty, please keep Brayden and his entire family in your prayers. Misty Dawn Shields Not good news an old tumor is growing on the outter side of his right eye and a new tumor is growing on the inner side of the same eye... his nose got burnt by the freezing wand and his eye is swollen shut. I just learned this and thought I would pass it along to others who may not know........... "The Meaning of the Flag Draped Coffin" http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our 'GOD GIVEN' rights and freedoms. I hope you take the time to read this ... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means .... Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is surrendered to so many widows and widowers. Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776? http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day! The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=4&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=5&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=6&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=7&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, 'Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=8&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that they pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=9&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=10&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded. The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=11&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=12&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their Nations motto, 'In God We Trust.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=13&fid=Inbox&inline=1 After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today. There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why. Share this with the children you love and all others who love what is referred to, the symbol of 'Liberty and Freedom.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=14&fid=Inbox&inline=1 MAYBE THE SUPREME COURT SHOULD READ THIS EXPLANATION BEFORE THEY RENDER THEIR DECISION ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
