  2. Puc, I found a recommendation of .020-.025" washer thickness in one of my 'archived' documents. One feller says to find brass or nylon washers at Radio Shack. From unknown date or forum thread: What is the proper amount to shim my carb needles? Original question by Dom Ochoa....My understanding from the tech clinic is I can buy brass washers at Radio Shack, but I can't remember what the recommendation was about thickness. (By the way, I'm still running the stock exhaust) Mario wrote: Between .023 and .027 thickness is what most people use. Ted wrote: I have the covers off the carbs and plan to shim the needles about .020" to richen up the midrange. Henry wrote: Mine measure .020 exactly! Scott wrote: The washer thickness is .020. Radio Shack sells them in a little plastic bag of various O.D.'s and I.D.'s. The washer you want to use is obvious. Dale wrote:I have found the stock needles work better or as good as an aftermarket. I would shim the needles with a brass #4 finishing washer found in most hardware stores. These are about .025 thick. I use these in my jet kit when a customer buys one of our exhaust systems. I would also suggest a K&N air filter to allow a bit more air flow.
  3. Yeah, washer shims. I think someone provided the proper washers on here. Maybe Skydoc or Dingy? Apparently the Canadian market Ventures came with the adjustable needles (with notches). But, 1983 needles (left in picture) are different in profile from the 1300 needles (right in picture). So be careful what year you get the Canadian needles from. http://www.venturers.org/Forum/download/file.php?id=10581
  4. I don't think you guys will get this.

  7. You were SOOOOOOO close. If you could only have come up with the original pic and an exact year. Thank you for playing. What have you to offer for us to find?
  8. And we have a winner! Neil found the exact pic and identified the bike. Good show, Canuck. Sorry, Brake Pad. You were on the right track. OK Neil, what's your offering? http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Lg2X8tkriJw/Uau5uEbXBnI/AAAAAAACkJM/9J_9ltpDuGY/s1600/1913_sears_motorcycle_brochure_03.jpg
  9. Why yes, yes it is. Now find the original pic before editing and give us a year.
  10. I'll wager no one here had this motorcycle as a kid.

  12. I can see calling the Venture a girl, but I'll bet the V-Max would take offense at being called a girl.
  13. If you can't get the tips off without damaging them, here are some brand new ones on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151305853938?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Hurry, though! Only an hour left. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwN1gxNjAw/z/rzcAAOxyIPNTeMtM/$_57.JPG
  14. Both the aftermarket VentureLine dual exhaust tip and the OEM single exhaust tip are held on with the springs and a friction fit rubber(y) sleeve between the muffler and the tip. Remove the springs and start twisting and pulling. Maybe some penetrating lubricant to assist in breaking the bond created by heat and time. Oh, and double check for some small obscure fastener that the PO may have installed. There was no fastener normally, but someone may have added one, especially if they neglected to use the rubber sleeve.
  15. You can 'rekon' all you want, but you wouldn't be correct. Keep looking!
  16. No I never had one as a kid. If I had, I probably wouldn't be around today to talk about it. Like I said in an earlier post, I've hacked your computer and can see what you are going to post.
  17. I've been in love with the Yamaha Venture since my first one in 1985. It was a 1983 Royale. The only thing I missed was the lack of a cruise control on the '83. Toured many miles with that first Royale. Loved it. Loved it even more than the '90, but the '90 was really the ultimate, most comfortable touring bike I've ever had.
  18. Another fast white one:

  20. Here's a weird bike I've never seen before. It was actually produced:
  21. Everything I found says it has a 500cc Kawasaki triple: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DSxXDMnKcNk/R8-qjeCVmLI/AAAAAAAAATU/b1fkrCh_iN0/s400/mini-bike-500cc-1.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DSxXDMnKcNk/R8-qjuCVmMI/AAAAAAAAATc/eyUgpszINOw/s400/mini-bike-500cc-2.jpghttp://img264.imageshack.us/img264/7591/oldcomputor153fs3.jpg I haven't been able to find out who built it. Perhaps 'Gary aka Triple obsession'? Although it looks like a drag bike, it is used as a pit/tow bike for a REAL drag bike. http://triplescanada.proboards.com/thread/517/pics-race-bikes
  22. Almost twenty-four hours and no guesses? OK, a hint seems to be in order: It is small. As in mini-moto small.
  23. Happy Birfday, Mike! The Big 60!? OMG.
