Need Help Reading the Trip Odometer.
Prairiehammer replied to GolfVenture's topic in General Tech Talk
Brian, it looks like "011.1" to me. My guess is that the trip meter was reset upon impact, but as sometimes happens it didn't reset all the way to zero. -
You are very Welcome, Mike. Glad I could fulfill some of your fantasies.

My mistake, Carl. Sorry. So air rushing past an orifice in a venturi pulls a vacuum on the container? I bet that is a noisy exercise as well as requiring a high cfm capability.

Something is failing.... But what? Driving me nuts.

Fan kicking on? -
I don't think the BikeMaster bleeder that he linked to uses compressed air. It is a hand vacuum pump.

+1 on Mity-Vac Everything I've seen with BikeMaster on it is made in China. My ten year old Mity-Vac is made in USA. Can't vouch for the current crop, though. I've never tried it, but perhaps you could bleed two front discs simultaneously with the Mity-Vac utilizing the "T" fitting and another length of hose. If you can use Harbor Freight, they offer the Mity-Vac for $37US. http://www.harborfreight.com/mityvac-vacuum-pump-39522.html Sears has various Mity-Vac bleeders: http://www.sears.com/tools-mechanics-auto-tools/c-1020137?sName=View%20All&sbv=Mityvac&sbf=Brand

Here is our trip around Lake Superior in 2011. We hit most all the places you are seeking. Although, Galena wasn't part of THAT trip, you can see that we took a meandering route home from Copper Harbor to near Galena (Freeport). Zoom in and you can see the route numbers. There is not a QUICK route from Galena to the UP if the Interstates are out of the picture. http://goo.gl/maps/epPwP

Battery Tender jr not good?
Prairiehammer replied to abusive throttle cranker's topic in Watering Hole
Larry, Although the AGM SHOULD have come with a decent charge, the instructions that came with mine said to charge it if the voltage was less than 11.5 volts. It also said to use a 2 amp charge rate for 12-14 hours or until the voltage was above 12.75. Only then should a maintainer be used. Another thing I have read on the forums concerning the maintainers: many will NOT charge if the battery voltage is less than 9 volts. One must charge that battery with a conventional charger to bring the voltage up into the operating range for the maintainer. I accidently discharged my AGM last summer because I left the trunk open on the '90. When I discovered my mistake the AGM was less than 2 volts. Researching the internet I found that the AGM must be charged from that low voltage with a NON-automatic charger as most automatic chargers will not charge if it senses such a low voltage. I charged the nearly dead AGM with an old Schumacher manual charger for a few hours at 6 amps. Put the maintainer on when the voltage was about 12 volts and let 'er cook over night. Next morning, battery voltage was 13.7 volts. That discharged AGM has performed as new ever since. Have you checked the output of the Junior? Have you taken a voltage reading on the AGM? -

Battery Tender website says the Jr. is for AGM. http://batterytender.com/battery-tender-junior-12v-at-0-75a.html -
Stuck sparkplug
Prairiehammer replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Dion, The copper based high-temp should be used on the high heat fasteners. The aluminum based stuff I have, specifically discourages use in a high heat environment. I don't use the aluminum based anti-seize when screwing steel parts into aluminum. Seems like the aluminum anti-seize would not prevent seizing in aluminum engines. My description details the composition of the two anti-seize products, not necessarily the color. The Fel-Pro contains copper. The NAPA product contains aluminum. I've noted that some newer anti-seize products are aluminum based with a copper COLOR. Not the same. -

Prairiehammer replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Randy, Consider using a high temperature anti-seize such as the copper based product by Fel-Pro; called ON N'OFF, part number 115. I use it on my spark plug threads and exhaust system fasteners without fail. NAPA sells an aluminum based anti-seize (HeliCoil) called Never-Seez, PN 765-2569 but I only use it on steel bolts threaded into steel. -

Concerning the .22LR semi-auto for plinking: I own a High Standard Sport King with 6¾" barrel. The barrels can be changed out with the push of a button. It has performed flawlessly for the past 35 years. I now use Remington Golden HP rounds and have not had any problems with cycling.

Here is a chart and other information specifically for automotive (12 volt) use.

An intact cicada in my ham salad sandwich. It was a prank by my coworkers. I took a bite and encountered a "crunch". Rather unexpected while munching a ham salad sandwich. I peered into the sandwich, saw the dead cicada, replaced the bread and continued eating. Some of the guys groaned and left. I waved the inedible wings and declared that a goooood samich. The perpetrators turned green and hurried off.

Randy, that bites! Another thing to try in your effort to get relevant results is to include the search phrase " -fits ". eBay changed their search logic recently. If you search for parts for the Venture, you will get a bunch of irrelevant items for many other bikes, too. Put " -fits " without the quotes into your search string. Here are my search strings: http://motors.desc.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=venture%20(faring%2C%20fairing%2C%20cowl%2C%20cowling)%20-brake%20-carbon%20-license%20-lighter%20-royal%20-kawasaki%20-slipstreamer&_sacat=10063&_sop=10&_dmpt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=venture%20(faring%2C%20fairing)%20-brake%20-carbon%20-license%20-lighter%20-royal%20-kawasaki%20-slipstreamer&_osacat=10063&bkBtn=&LH_TitleDesc=1&_trksid=m194&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSRCHX:SRCH http://motors.desc.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=(xvz1200%2C%20%22XVZ%2012%22%2C%20%22XVZ%2013%22%2C%20XVZ1300)%20-LED%20-oil%20-traffic%20-stainless%20-HID%20-ccfl%20-seals%20-seal%20-helmet%20-spark%20-filter%20-venture%20-star%20-EBC&_sacat=10063&_sop=10&_dmpt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=(xvz1200%2C%20%22XVZ%2012%22%2C%20%22XVZ%2013%22%2C%20XVZ1300)%20-LED%20-oil%20-traffic%20-HID%20-ccfl%20-seals%20-seal%20-helmet%20-spark%20-filter%20-venture%20-star%20-EBC&_osacat=10063&bkBtn=&LH_TitleDesc=1&_trksid=m194&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSRCHX:SRCH eBay motors> motorcycle parts: venture -cobra -ricks -truGel -fasterznu -R1 -tire -Mxstuff4u -harley -wiseco -lithium -belt -EBC -Needs -RMSTATOR -wave -H4 -fuze -phazer -brake -ngk -helmet -blue -differnet -heated -boyesen -star -solenoid -ultragard -roadliner -formosa -yuasa -hid -k&n all of ebay motors: xvz -fits -venture -kuryakyn -tire -kit -pads -filter -turn -seals -seal -k&n -battery -ricks -NGK -1999 -2000 -2001 -2002 -2003 -2004 -2005 -2006 -2007 -2008 -2009 -2010 -2011 -2012 -ebc ebay motors> parts and accessories: ABA-26HCD motorcycle parts: 1NL -velocity motorcycle parts: 26H- -"1965" all of eBay motors: ("venture line", ventureline, markland) -curtis -stroller -dvd Some of these links aren't translating here properly; use the search strings in the categories noted. It appears that links from the old style search results pages translate to a valid link, but the links from the new style search results page do not. I wish eBay would quit mucking with their site. I've been active on eBay since 1999 and they have changed considerably everything, but often not for the better. Searching is more difficult nowadays, with changes to the old Boolean search and layout. Arghhhh!
