  1. so did you go for a ride or what
  2. OK, how many of you guys ride one of these things? I'm seriously thinking about pulling the plug on one, (a 2009) and am interested in any comments. It's pretty well farkled out, but as you know, there's always more to buy.
  3. you mean THIS UP? I was up in the UP this summer visiting my good buddy, Yooper, but haven't been over to this bridge. I will next summer.
  4. Now that you're back on the bike, you should take the afternoon off and go for a good long ride. As you know, another day in the 70s here. Ride safe,
  5. Let us know how this works out for you. Dave, you remember that the Venture has a bigger gas tank? So 170 with the venture would be like 125 with the RSTD? Just wondering
  6. Having a 05 RSTD that I've put over 50K on, I've never seen anything close to 200 miles before switching to reserve. 135 seems normal to me. Sometimes a little more and sometimes a bunch less, depending on wind, wrist and so on. And I just did a major tuneup this spring, everything from valve adjustment to spark plugs/all beautiful color and gap, and at Don's MD, Squidley did a carb tune which wasn't all that far off to begin with, so color me puzzled.
  7. I can see that this is going to be a problem.
  8. So in the mean time I will just have to keep my attitude in check I feel for you venturevet, but I think you nailed it when you said the above.
  9. Here is one that I have been in touch with: http://www.ridethehighlands.co.uk/

    Now that's a man with a plan
  11. I've been thinking about you and Bobbi, and wondering how you are doing with all of the flooding by you. Wishin you both the best
  12. 1111 miles (GPS miles) in 16 hours, 23 minutes. --- I would do that---In THREE days. Glad you had a good trip.
  13. And were going to believe a story like that without pictures? I don't think so
  14. That's what Don always did
  15. So how is the spaghetti? And does she know? and your exwife is making you spaghetti? Yeah I know, lots of questions.
  16. That's what I call service! Here is my VR dome sticker over a BIG dent when my bars came down and the cup holder made a Big dent in the tank. Made to fit
  17. That does not count, cheap skate, bring your own shampoooooooooooooo hahaha
  18. I've been looking at the 650 V-strom myself, and before winter is over I'll have one. Right now, I'm looking at 2012's. What I haven't looked up yet is what is the weight difference between the 650 and the 1000, and why the 1000 is not as popular.
  19. Now that's a part of Arizona that I'd like to see, and like Puc said, put up my tent. I can just imagine riding that 260.
  20. Can't believe I missed this 50s slide show. I remember is all and the music and slides were awesome. Thanks
  21. I know what you mean Eck, when I crashed after MD, I noticed later that my bell was not there. I was really bummed because in 09 at Don's MD, Lowell gave me that bell. BUT, when I got home and was going through my Jacket pockets, there it was, loop broken off and a bit scraped up but I had it. Turns out Bobby found it and put it in my inside pocket. Can't thank her enough. At the Venturers 15 yr get together in Tennessee after MD I was telling the story, and Craig sent me a Venturers bell. It is now on the bike. A big thank you to Craig for that. I'm going to put a loop on my VR bell and hang it in a place on honor, just not sure where yet.
  22. First a question that I have asked before: When you punch a hole in the lip, isn't there a chance a spark would cause a BIG problem? I'm not sure about the ventures but on my RSTD, here is how it works. When the guage goes to "F", the countdown begins, and when the engine starts sputtering, I switch it over to reserve. Now if I'm riding normally that will be at around 15 miles on "F", (before I switch it to reserve) then I can go another probably 30 miles, but like when I was out west, (pulling a trailer) sometimes it would be at 7 to 8 miles, then I'd say I can go about 15 miles. Mileage was 26/27mpg then, so I judge how far I can go by how many miles on "F" before I switch it to reserve. So the wind plays the biggest part in this for me. And I have a smaller tank to boot.
