  1. I put leveling links on the bike but was tipy toeing? alot. took them off and raised the tubes in the triple clamps. perfect now. I always stand on the pegs, IF, i see the pothole and can't avoid it. left over from my dirtbiking days... will put 20-25 in it and keep bumping pressure up and hit a couple oles and see what happens. Only have 1 month before nmy warranty runs out. Is max PSI 45 or 55?
  2. sounds like good advice Brian. So 5/8" range souds right? Like I told Les, with these short 29" legs, I won't be flat foot. and i thought you could do 0 psi? like the front forks. If it takes the clunk out so be it. may have to get a butler mod. Wonder if hes gonna be at Feeebirds MD?
  3. and an asteriod is gonna buzz us in a couple of hours...
  4. I know this is an old post, but... 2nd owner for this bike. My bike's rear shock is bottoming out also. I normally run 10 psi rear 0 front and am 220lbs one up. add 40 lbs for cargo on hitch. have had it in the shop twice. first time when i added air, it wouldn't go up at all. They said they fixed with a shrader. As it was still bottoming out with 10 psi i took back(going over a 1" deep basketball sized pothole at 45mph. My 650 Vstar doesn't... A very solid almost metalic bottoming out... They informed me today that I should put more air in shock and they had done all these tests on the shock and it was ok. had oil, didnt leak air etc... Les also said the shock shaft moves 2" but the bike will not move up or down by more than 5/8"?? I may be wrong but swear I've seen them raised more than that at MD. Anyway I need to pick the bike up but want to know what you guys think before i do..
  5. I've had the rope type fail on my fourwheeler. the problem is when you push the file thru to create a clean surface , you may or may not be following the origional hole. Would probably be ok in a pinch (at low speeds) but I would not feel comfortable till the tire was taken off and vulcanized /patched from the inside. IMHO never patch or plug a sidewall, thats asking for trouble. IMHO
  6. We stayed in tavernier just outside of Key largo half the time then moved south to Key West. The closer to Key west the more expensive it is going to get... exmpl: your rooms going to be $200 per night (march rates) ... Being your going in june it may be cheaper? Steve and I stayed at truman annex at the Navy base. Leo and Brake Pad stayed in a beautiful Place , that i would highly recommend: http://www.papashideaway.com/ For more info Heres a link to the trip: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64591&highlight=captainjoe If you have limited time A1A in places are stop and go red lights. We jumped on the turnpike.
  7. if they were moved 1" towards rider they should clear? Would be closer to fuel cap , but I always fuelup from the backside. pretty cool. Edit- Was comparing yours to the other and looks like yours is about 1/2" more towards the front? Not critizing, just comparing.
  8. You just have to wonder how friendly she was to "old sailor boy" that night. Cause you know she wouldn't leave till she's extracted her vengence...
  9. We need to bring back the conservation corps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Conservation_Corps
  10. Actually like the look of both! The one thing I really wanted was a tac and an oil pressure guage. Didnt want to sacrifice my cassette player for one. Those things are valuable. Didn't realize that particular piece was metal? Where did you get the pods?
  11. I' just go to the source: http://www.airhawkseatcushions.net/c-7-airhawk-motorcycle-cushions.aspx?&pagesize=999999&gclid=CN_X8vPLtrUCFel7QgodfSQAMA
  12. Believe Freebird had a 2 gauge pod years ago and sold it... I know because I wanted it bad.......... Don't even know who origionally made them? a member perhaps
  13. You'll want the large... I bought a large for the 650 Vstar and it fits the RSV just fine. It was an Airhawk. wouldn't leave home without it...LOL now they have an airhawk 2 and an airhawk R? Which model are you going to get?
  14. THE TRIP TO ITALY A young New York woman was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean; but just before she could throw herself from the docks, a handsome young man stopped her. "You have so much to live for," said the man. "I'm a sailor, and we are off to Italy tomorrow. I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take care of you, bring you food every day, and keep you happy." With nothing to lose, combined with the fact that she had always wanted to go to Italy , the woman accepted. That night the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a small but comfortable compartment in the ship’s hold. From then on, every night he would bring her three sandwiches, a bottle of red wine, and make love to her until dawn. Three weeks later she was discovered by the captain during a routine inspection. "What are you doing here?" asked the captain. "I have an arrangement with one of the sailors," she replied. "He brings me food and I get a free trip to Italy ." "I see," the captain says. Her conscience got the best of her, and she added, "Plus, he's screwing me." "He certainly is," replied the captain. "This is the Staten Island Ferry."
  15. If it were me, I'd scuff it up with sandpaper on both sides, put some jbweld on backside and icening on the outside. Then primer and paint the color of your faring. You can always bump this post from time to time and eventually one will pop up. Of course the less chrome a bike has on it, the happier I am...LOL
  16. I got 16% on one, and 15% on the other .... Not saying That I won't get back into stocks, but, I'm going to pause and take a look see at what our economy does in the next 12 to 18 months. Getting back in won't be a problem. After all they say sell high, buy low. Stock ar just about at an all time high. Long term you can't even begin to beat stocks. But, If we go into another recession I'm protected.
  17. good read ... I'm about 7 years away from selling this place.
  18. I hear that....
  19. Nope.... Has everything to do with our exporting oil though. In 2011 it was the U.S.third largest export at $129.5 BILLION which by the way was up 202% from the previous year. http://www.worldsrichestcountries.com/top_us_exports.html you can even see which country imported "what" from us... tried to get 2012 figures but havent found yet...
  20. PMELAH, I am very sorry to hear that. I've never really had extra money to invest in the stock market. Deferrred comp was suppose to be this pre-tax, to end all, way of investing in your retirement. Back in 08, I lost about half of the value of everything that I had been paying into this retirement, for the past 20 years of my life. Funny thing is, I had a bad feeling that things were going south, but was told not to watch the market as it will only make you crazy, and, above all else leave it alone. Well as of today it recovered, in fact it even made a little.... Now I have that same bad feeling again.... so I moved it away from stocks, like i should have back in 08. I'm 54 and there's no way if the stock market plunges that it will recover.
  21. yea i know this isn't bike related... but hey, it's winter.......... Is anyone else getting squimish about the stock market and our current reality? Parused two books... The Bubble and Aftershock... Today, I pulled my retirement funds out of the stock market and put into Gov. money market and some gaurenteed no loss principle, 3% intrest adjusted quarterly bonds. I'm not gonna loose my ass etts again like i did in 08.
  22. As soon as it warms up...LOL Unlike LEO3WHEEL ,I don't think spring is here yet! There is no chance what so ever of me riding to the state I was born, " Pennsylvania" in the month of February.
  23. Of course we're gonna have to test that beverage service out... Any volunteers? besides me of course?
