  1. No, quite the opposite unless you are switching the ground through the relay. Now on the stock wiring yes that is the case, so on the relay coil you should see 12 volts on both leads until you press the horn button. If you press the horn button and there is still 12 volts on both then your horn button contacts aren't connecting. Now on the relay you should have 12 volts coming from the battery, and nothing on either side of the horn. When you press the button you should see 12 volts on both sides of the relay contacts, and 12 volts on the plus connection of the horn. If you still see 12 volts on both sides of the horn with the button pushed then you have a bad ground to the horn. OK after carefully re reading your post, yes there should be 12 volts on the front horn until you press the button as the stock horn does not use a relay...

    Why?

    Why is that?????
  3. This thread is killing me...
  4. Yup! Not enough power from the original wiring. Use the existing horn wires to trigger a relay that switches 12 volts directly from the battery. Possibility 2, the horns have a plus and minus. Try switching the two wires around...
  5. Yea Mark, stick around, I for one always enjoy your posts! You know darn well this isn't a website, it's a family, and families stick together through thick and thin!
  6. I was actually able to get some of the yard work done today!! The snow piles are still out there but a lot has melted and it's really late in the year already! by now I'm usually about done, not just starting...
  7. No real trick, just use a u joint and a short extension. The front "dogbones" (fake upper fins) in front have to come off. Gas tank removed makes it easier to work on. I wouldn't waste my money on the splitfires Just use NGK plugs, and buy the irridium ones, they last a lot longer, unless you enjoy new plugs every year...
  8. Sorry to hear that!
  9. Funny thing I just did the same thing about a month ago!!
  10. Nope, I ain't shoveling it, ain't gonna happen, no sir, not me!! Just the slightest hint of a frosting, grass is still sticking above it...
  11. It's snowing AGAIN!!!
  12. Hmmm, doing constant burnouts kills the tread on my tires...
  13. Hey Awesome, an apology from me is in order. I meant no harm, I assumed Kevin had answered your question. This long winter has gotten to us all and we are a bit stir crazy! My step daughter and I are always going back and forth about Apple and Android! Each serves a purpose, I happen to be an android fan and she's an Iphone loyalist! Of course she also thinks Obama is the greatest thing since waxed paper... Anyway, my apologies if I offended you!
  14. As strange as it sounds we have had similar feelings on a couple of cars we have traded in in the past! It's like it is thrilling to get the new one but the old one was full of great memories as well! (We buy another as soon as the old one is paid for) I have had the same feelings through life moving from one place to another when it was time to start a new chapter in life...
  15. Watch out for bears strolling down the road!!!
  16. You should keep it!! Think of it as a 1st gen on steroids!!! My latest project is pulling a Dingy on my old 1st gen. I have acquired a set of 1200 VMax heads, the Vboost setup, and a 1300 MK2 engine and carbs to give my already powerful '84 even more muscle so when I convert into a 3 wheeler it will still have plenty of oomph! I will be sending the heads and engine to a machine shop specializing in Vmax this summer as funds become available...
  17. When we went to Asheville, after the Skyline and the BRP, and getting on and off for the nite on some of those access roads, by the time we got to the Dragon we actually found it kinda tame! You will enjoy it but be careful, lotsa idiots there and an occasional semi that don't belong there!!
  18. Download them from your phone to the computer, and then resize them, I use 800 x 600 pixels myself then store as compressed JPEG. The site will resize them to the proper size from there. If you don't resize and the file is too big it will not upload to the site.
  19. Very understandable my friend!
  20. I'm thinking corroded caliper pistons. Try what Doug suggested. You can unbolt the calipers and find something to pry the pads apart while you open the bleeder and see how easy they move. For setting that long I STRONGLY recommend flushing the hydraulic systems at a bare minimum...
  21. Apple, Kool Aid, whatever...
  22. Yah!! Without pictures it didn't happen...
  23. ***Best Erkel voice*** Did I do that???
  24. bongobobny
