  1. Lewis you will now be busier than when you were working. Your job is now 24/7/365!! After a while you will want to go back to work to get some rest! Best wishes and enjoy my friend, enjoy!!!
  2. Hi CJ, glad to see you posting! Well, the answer to your question depends on just how much money you want to spend! As far as the engine goes, pretty much nothing more than an oil change and new plugs, and a carb tune. Unless the bike is hard starting I would not worry about a valve adjustment yet. These engines are pretty much bullet proof and last a long time, like 10 times what you have on it already. Due to the age, you may want to consider replacing the front springs and flush the shock oil and replace. The same goes for brake and clutch fluid, something that should be done every 4 - 5 years anyway. Same applies to the engine coolant. Inspect your rear shock for leakage and replace the shock if it is leaking. Grease the splines on the driveshaft. Due to age only you may want to consider replacing all wheel bearings, swing arm bearings and neck bearings as with age grease tends to turn into glue. Inspect vacuum lines and replace any that are hard and brittle. Same goes for coolant hoses. Other than that just ride the puppy and take care of problems if and when they come up...
  3. Mine was genuine slippage too! Fixed via PCW and HD Yamaha clutch...
  4. That looks like the kind of kit I'm looking for to put on my 1st gen!
  5. Jack, that applies to ALL manufacturers and came out of a 20/20 news investigation...
  6. Then I guess it needed it!
  7. If you can make it down to my place Thursday I will be glad to escort you to Letchworth park and up to Mt. Morris...
  8. Maybe a piece of debris got caught in the front wheel and jammed against the forks or something. Regardless glad you are OK and hope the spot on the lung turns out to be nothing...
  9. Downloaded and on my computer now, soon to be a DVD...
  10. Sorry Mama, I'm an AGT addict. I can make 8:00 or earlier but gone at 9:00...
  11. To do the carbs, I disconnected the fuel line from the petcock and added another piece of hose and submerged the hose in the can of seafoam, started the bike and gave it throttle so it sucked the seafoam into the carbs until it stalled, and let it set overnight. The bike took a little bit of coaxing to start but when it did it smoked out crap for a good 10 minutes...
  12. Yes if you really hit the throttle like WOT the light will come on, nothing wrong with the bike. With the G force the oil swamps toward the rear of the pan and the sensor is in ther front of the pan...
  13. The tire industry highly recommends NOT to use any tire older than 6 years old. There was a scandal several years back about tires that were older than 6 years old being sold new that resulted in serious and even fatal accidents. Chances are if you bought them in 2011 they were most likely made in 2010 so you should be good to go...
  14. Avoid the Interstates!!!
  15. Dang Eck, you always got to "one up" people, don't ya?!!? Nice going, heal fast my friend!!!
  16. You could replace it with an aftermarket chrome plastic one available on Ebay for around $40

  21. In a word, YES!
  22. Let's hope justice is served...
  23. OK Yami, a few things come to mind. One thing is vacuum leaks. Did you replace the "O" rings on the bottom of the carb intake manifolds (Those 4 black tube things)? If disturbed, those rubber gaskets will no longer be sealed as with compression over a long period of time they change from "O" rings to flat bands. Also check for cracked rubber vacuum hoses, with the age of the bike I would have replaced all of them. OK with the carbs there are two "circuits" the low speed and the high speed. Also, did you resync the carbs?? Questions, questions...
  24. Well, it's not a Harley...
  25. Sorry Mama, I was watching TV...
