  4. 2000 miles on an 81. Nice swap. You didn't mention how it runs, or if it runs? or did it sit because it didn't
  5. yeah !!!
  6. For a thousand bucks more the new Harley Street 500 and Street 750 look like a lot more motorcycle for the money. They should be hitting the dealers any day now, and I will go take a look.
  7. It looks like 3+4=7 is the warranty from Honda. So this lifetime warranty, is likely a dealer thing. ie: have to bring it to the dealer for warranty service. Since we don't know the selling price / reserve, we don't know what the dealer is charging for that warranty (if at all). http://www.southernhonda.com/2013-Honda-Gold-Wing-Audio-Comfort-inventory.htm?ID=18048614&Brand=16&Type=1787&fm=1 is the dealers web page for this model. $23,990 is list price with a $3k discount currently offered. no mention of a lifetime warranty on the dealer web page. The goldwing is the only motorcycle in the same class as the RSV/RSTD for reliability.
  8. thx. That is the best price I've seen in a while.
  9. http://www.frys.com/product/8020854?site=frysecampaign1+date:030714+disc:LENOVO+H530-57323783+Desktop+PC complete new Intel I3 with everything inc Win 8.1 $398 shipped. btw, I'm able to run 90% of old dos & windows x programs under Win 8.1 I bought a Lenovo I7 18 months ago from Frys. Thats what I'm using now.
  10. The intel I3's are relatively cheap these days. What you didn't mention was what O/S you are running? 7 years is long enough to worry about compatibility between hw & sw. and make sure the interface for disks and any other cards are supported. Card slots are mostly PCI. Frys.com ships most stuff for free. I bought a complete new intel I3 system for my hamshack for $3xx including Windows v8.1. Frys comes out with a new 'sale' list every friday. When I need something, I watch their sale items until what I want is offered. It usually doesn't take too long. They frequently have blow-out prices on discontinued stuff if you want to buy components and build up your own system

  16. I saw a couple of those air rifles in Austrian Museums. When Napoleon's armies invaded Austria, the Tyrol in the west of Austria (mountainous) refused to surrender and a militia fought back under the leadership of an innkeeper named Andreas Hofer. They had a number of those air rifles. Napoleon decreed that anyone caught with one of the air rifles would be immediately hung. Hofer was eventually caught and executed, following the surrender of the regular Austrian army.
  17. I've carried a full size dreadnaught guitar on a motorcycle a few times. Usually an acoustic bass guitar will be 1 inch wider, and have a neck about 4 inches longer. (you didn't say if it was an acoustic bass or what style of electric). An electric will be smaller than an acoustic, generally.

  19. Just looked at the specs on the web link. The dry weight of the bike is 181kg Thats only 398 lbs. And for a 200hp machine!!!
  20. If I get a new vehicle, there's a good chance I will get one too. Being made locally helps that decision.
  21. Its been a long winter
  22. I wasn't aware of the COP's until this thread. It appears that my car, a 2005 merc Marquis uses them. A new set of 8 for my merc coats $50 (aftermarket Orion brand). The ones I've seen looking at this seem to all use the same 2 prong connector. Resistor wattage, err on the high side when in doubt. I inherited my father's old Simpson VOM. Same as I used in tech school during HS years. Should be accurate enough. 20,000 ohm internal impedance if I remember right? So what are the chances that the 2nd gen could use the same COP as my car? spark=spark=spark I ran an old 650 Triumph on a Suzuki coil from a junk bin when I couldn't find one of the correct Lucas coils. Notes from two ebay listing on a COP (for example) Primary Resistance 0.620 ohms / 0.5 ohms Secondary Resistance 5.6K ohms / 5.43K Turns Ratio 66:1 / 68/1 Honda MC thread on doing a conversion: http://www.rc51forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6482 http://www.ngk.de/en/technology-in-detail/ignition-coils/design-of-an-ignition-coil/design-of-a-pencil-coil-single-spark-coil-coil-on-plug/
  23. So who is going to try these on a 2nd gen RSV or RSTD ? I wonder if figuring out what kind of resistor is needed is as simple as measuring the resistance of a stock coil/plugwire combo ? Are the connectors the same (that would be too lucky) as the 1st gen /vmax? The kit price isn't too bad considering everything is there ready to go. http://www.densoautoparts.com/direct-ignition-coils-cop
