  1. I'd be up for a trip down to Asheville or the like.....Is the WNY Rally now a dead issue?
  2. Had a REALLY close call a few weeks back. In my big ol' Ram Pickup with the wife, heading home from helping a friend with a boiler install. Was near Y-Town, on 680, speed limit 65. I was in the passing lane behind another pickup. Plenty of room between the truck and I, and we were both doing about 70. I was satisfied with the speed...point being that I was NOT tailgating. We were both slowly overtaking a SUV in the middle lane, and that SUV had a block of lettering as a rear window decal. I glanced over to try to read what the decal said, and did notice with my peripheal that the pickup in front of me had sped up and got in front of the SUV. I turned my head to look ahead and there was a mini-van STOPPED in the passing lane. In that flash of a second I ascertained that I was going to clip the rear driver corner of this van, as I lurched the vehicle left, (squealing tires) and dunno how I missed it, but I went into the median....stayed on the median for a few yards and gently coaxed it back onto the road.... Lisa looked over at me and said "How the hell did you miss that guy"...I dunnno.....Hand of God.... Spent some time on that drive home repeatedly thanking the Good Lord for what didn't happen.... I think it's that sort of thing that shows us that there's more than we know going on. Like many of you have had...That situation left me with NO time to think, but simply react...and I did so in a way that prevented catastrophe. I think that "reaction" is either our true self, unbound by the limits of this body, stepping in, or it truly is the hand of God helping us out......Most of us have had these things happen....some of us (me) have had it happen more than once. I think that should give us all something to think about, especially on this holiday, when we celebrate the birth of the one person who acted / acts as a bridge between this world and the next. Happy Birthday Jesus....And THANK YOU !!!!.....Can't wait to meet ya....
  3. Yup....it's kinda scary how quickly time goes by...looking back. Seems like it flys by, looking backwards, but seems to crawl along, looking forward... Gonna hit the big 60 next month. Not looking forward to that. As far as the seasons go,....it seems that Summer goes by so quick, but Winter lasts so long. On the good side....I'm almost done with leaves for this year....YAY !!!...
  4. Here we go again with the Torque vs Horsepower discussion, but I thought I'd learned that Horsepower is just an extrapolation from the torque value.....???
  5. I'll be thinkin' of you. Positive thoughts and prayers. Whenever I say that, I truly take a minute to think of the person needing help and ask for God's Grace. Seems like I'm doing that more and more as we're getting older. Take care, and get better soon.
  6. WOW !!! Glad you're still with us. As long as you're ok, all the rest will work itself out. Thoughts and prayers on the way....
  7. "Leaf Season" is my least favorite time of year. I'd rather be doing other things, but when ya live in the woods, ...it's to be expected.
  8. I was recently given a Gravely 12G tractor and a TracVac leaf vac that hadn't run in almost 20 years. Had a bit of work to get the Tractor going, but the Trac Vac just needed the old gas cleaned out and it took right off. This setup ROCKS. Amazing how well it picks up the leaves. Lift the deck and plow into a pile of leaves and it sucks them up Works better than I'd hoped. Still need the leaf blower for finish up, but the bulk of the leaves get picked up by this beast. I'm quite pleased.
  9. Dumped a half can of Seafoam in the tank to stabilize the fuel...Rode it a few miles to get the Seafoam into the carbs....Turned off the fuel and let it run itself out....put it in it's heated shed and covered. Told her I'd see her in the Spring.
  10. Great looking bike. Treat her right and she'll be around a long time... Welcome!!!
  11. Driving up to Y-town to install a boiler for a friend....He hasn't had heat since last Spring...
  12. You two keep the dirty side down....lol....
  13. Definitely gonna put that on the list of "Cool places to eat"...
  14. Sent 'em a few bucks. Not worried about getting credit for yearly dues.
  15. Once had a chainsaw apart 3 times to figure why the chain was stuck.....Finally figgered the chain brake was on...DUH !!!
  16. I believe the Beemer with the sidecar was German....BMW....used in North Africa. The scooter was American, and since it was paired with a dummy used as a distraction to the Germans, I'd guess that the scooter was used in Europe, particularly during the invasion at Normandy.
  17. This morning had a gorgeous dawn, then lost most of the color when the sun finally broke through. The pics don't nearly do justice to seeing it in person, but here's some pics of what i saw while drinking my morning coffee, as well as a few pics from the military aviation museum. A bike with a sidecar and a scooter that can be parachuted in in a tube and quickly set up. Just a tiny bit of the cool stuff there.
  18. Today's sunrise was of a different flavor. BTW: HIGHLY recommend the Military Aviation Museum here, just south of VA Beach. Some really cool stuff....
  19. Took a long weekend and Lisa and I went to VA Beach. I thought the sunrise this morning was too beautiful NOT to share.
  20. Nice job.....I've thought about giving it up, but I've had the same Molly Hatchet tape in it for 8 or 10 years now.....Still love remembering that it's in there and playing "Dreams I'll never see"....Great song.
  21. Secondhand store in Emporium, PA. Not a decent socket in this whole mess.
  22. Weird how that works. Whenever I see a bunch of sockets at a flea market or such...I sit there and go through it trying to find (quality) 10mm sockets. Must go to that same dimension where all the missing socks go. I'm missing some 12mm as well.
