  1. Just what I need - something else on my record. Wait a minute - who's keeping these "records"?
  2. Very nice, thanks, guys! 'Cept fur peekchur ov haf neck-ed Serb. (hard to type an East-Euro accent) However..........Sarge - did you notice what's missing? Not one pic of Rick and me washing dishes. What's up with that, eh? I was hoping for some photographic proof.
  3. Seems to me - All that wt. over the rear tire not only makes the bike top heavy, but would make the front end "light" Without adequate wt on the front tire, it could get real squirrely at high speed, in turns or in an emergency situation. He is aware that there are other people on the road beside himself? Personally, I wouldn't even want to ride with someone that unsafe. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should. There is! This may come as a shocker - are you sitting down? One does NOT fall off the edge of the world once you leave THE CITIES ! And........there are other cities ALSO congested with people and traffic. It's TRUE!
  4. Likewise, Bill. Maybe in Galena? That's SSE of The Cities in The Land Beyond MN.
  5. The Owl I was thinking of doesn't do much of anything at night. In fact, he sleeps pretty sound. I think a few feathers in one hand and an axe in the other, take a few pics then wake him up......................
  6. Red wants to know why Yooper is referring to himself in the 3rd person? Red finds that odd...........but he is a Yooper, after all.
  7. Actually, I live south of The Cities, too - Neenah/Menasha:stirthepot:
  8. Well, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
  9. Genetic engineering takes too long. And once that alarm goes off, I'm awake - there is no 'SECOND SLUMBER". We all gotta go sometime, I'm thinking next Sept - eternal rest for the feathered alarm clock might be in order. As for the early morning "discussion" - have you ever seen these guys BEFORE coffee? It goes something like this - coffee done? no what's that big lump? owl is it alive? think so - it's making noise. should we wake it up? God no. coffee done yet? close enough Any sugar? dunno who the F#$% was singing at 3 in the morning? dunno, but it sounded like a Canadian, eh? what was all that noise at 4 in the morning? Daryl's trailer wanted to leave early. Oh. any more coffee? Over there. Did you hear that F#$@!ing rooster at 5 in the morning? he's gotta die. I just gotta figure a way to frame Owl for it.
  10. What Al said. That was mostly accurate, Steve and mildly amusing.
  11. We have the same talk every year and he ends up getting in the last word. I took some pics of the offenders so Ann would have something to remember them by.
  12. I just wonder what he was doing to get it rocking? By himself? On second thought........ I don't want to know.
  13. Nice pics, Bill. Great meeting you - hope you had an uneventful ride home. On my way back I missed my turn and ended going thru "the cities"! to find my way home. That's a very congested place for us country folk. Next year I'll be sure and plot my course around it.
  14. Those were some kind of UFO. Like a Chinese lantern or a bag candle, only upside down. Light the candle thing and the bag fills with hot air and then goes WAyyyyy up. I don't know who brought them, but they were cool.
  15. You can always count on those friendly Canadians!
  16. It was nice meeting you both, hope you can make to the rally in IL next July. I did a similiar thing - put in 5.25 gallons at my gas stop in Point. That's the most I ever put in it. That was 20 miles on reserve.
  17. And remember NOT to park your bike at the bottom of the downhill run! Headlights don't help if you go down back end first! It was great meeting you and your brother Daryl - hope to see you next year.
  18. Just offering up my thanks as well, to the hosts, the cooks, those who cleaned up and those that showed up. The food was highly edible, Owl (we won't mention the burned dressing), and Gary and Ann - thanks to you guys as well. It's a great spot for a get-together (although I will be truly happy when God calls the roosters home) and I appreciate all the work that goes into making it happen every year. Kudos. There's always a nice mix of truly excellent people at each and every one of these Venture gatherings I've been too. Renate & Al - sorry you had to bug out early, but thanks for posting the pics. So to those I've known for years and to those I just met Saturday - I hope you all had an equally good time, got home safe and have a great fall. And more than likely, I'll see ya'll next year. And "Rolling" Daryl - remember - chock the tires next time!!!
  19. I can attest to the food being good and plentiful both times I was there. :hurts:I try not to think about who cooked it and where his hands have been. To the best of my knowledge - no one has died or even gotten seriously ill from anything that could be traced directly to Owl's cooking. Anyone know if crazy Dan from Chicago is gonna be there? Stardbog was his VR name, I think. Didn't he have some kinda weird thing with that horse?
  20. Way to bring it back on topic. I paid $329 this year for 12 months full coverage (300/100/300) on my 2000 RSV from Progressive. It had been under $300 but a *!@$* ticket in MT last year (in my car) took me out of the top rating and jacked up my ins. on ALL my vehicles when my renewals came up. They initially were gonna hit me for $400+, but I called to complain and they found some ways to lower the premiums back to a reasonable level. Now I REALLY try to watch my speed.

  22. Actually - you have a federal constitutional monarchy a.k.a. a "Westminster-style parlimentary democracy" in Canada. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Canada ) Your rights and freedoms come from the Crown and are protected by your constitution. And the USA is also not a democracy - we have a constitutional republic down here. Both are supposed to represent and implement the will of the people - both often fail miserably. And while both use "socialist" style programs aimed at assisting the underprivileged at the expense of the successful and exerting control over free markets - neither are "socialist" gov'ts ..........yet. And both places are still some of the most free and prosperous nations on earth. While either gov't may not set prices directly, they go a long way in helping determine prices by establishing insurance minimums, mandatory coverage and other regulations, thereby forcing the "for profit" insurance companies to charge fees that cover mandated regulations and still provide for profit for it's shareholders. People often blame the business for the cost of a service, yet insurance companies operate on some of the lowest profit margins of any industry. Yet every regulation comes at a price and that price is spread out among the policy holders. Not to spark an entirely different debate, :duck:but in Canada, the cost of the "free" healthcare system is part of nearly every product or service you pay for. Whether you call it a tax or a "mandated fee" - the thing that politicians and sheeple never seem to learn is that businesses pay no taxes . All the costs of a business - raw materials, labor, utilities, taxes, fines, regulations and fees - are always included in the price of it's product or service and passed down to the end consumer. That would be you. And that is true if you live in the Great White North or the Land of Dixie.
  23. My daughter got her first deer, a little fork horn. Eventually, after 6 days of nothing - I saw a deer and shot it - nice, fat doe. I gotta have at least 1 deer in freezer every year or I'd have to go back to eating BEEF! Didn't get a chance at another deer the last 3 days of the gun season. Slooooow year up here - statewide the kill was down about 30%.
  24. What is this? One of those Blahblah Walters - "If you were a tree, what kind of tree would be?" questions? LOYAL Would be my word of choice. However, there have been many "choice words" used to describe me. And I am aware that those who only know me around the periphery would probably describe me as a ........... P.I.T.A. And I'm OK with that, too.
