Changing to a LED Headlamp
Cowboy replied to sfcrader's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Do they make the 4 1/2" running lights also. If I did make this change I would have to change the running lights also. Brian -

Howdy! Shift shaft bearing and seal question
Cowboy replied to stereomind's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Vlad, Been looking around for this Grease Seal. Cannot find anyone that can get it! Wondering if the company you got it from would send me one by the US Postal Service? Do you have a contact number and name? Any info on this would be appreciated. My grease seal is leaking and I am tired of looking like a Harley in the garage. Wondering how many other people are having the same issue!! Just rolled over 120,000 and all is fine minus the oil spot on the garage floor. Thanks again Brian -
Howdy! Shift shaft bearing and seal question
Cowboy replied to stereomind's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Where did you get the seal? I replaced mine with the same stock seal and had the same result. LEAK LEAK Would like to try the smaller seal you came up with! Again where did you get the smaller seal? 26x7x13 -
2004 Venture Rear Shock & Radio

2004 Venture Rear Shock & Radio
Cowboy replied to Twodog35's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
GL Shock will not work according to the center to center. The Goldwing is 2" longer. In the latest RIDER MAG there is an article about a company TRAXION DYNAMICS (Located not far from me) I had my bike down with them for 2 weeks trying to get another option for the rear shock other than the stock air ride or the aftermarket HAGON. Ended up that could not come up with a better solution. I ended up going with the HEAVY DUTY HAGON. I ride 2-up and pull a trailer most of the time. Love the shock thats my opinion. Note I also had TRAXION DYNAMICS rebuild my front forks putting in new springs and a Rebound / Damping Kit. What an improvement in the curves! Cost me under $250 -
White Wall Tires - YES or NO? Please dont just vote NO cause your skeerd...
Cowboy replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Don, I have to vote for the WWW. Dunlop WWW 404. Seems that dunlop has changed compound for my last two sets got 10,500. I know that guys get better with the E3 and the Avon, however as you have heard me rant about the tire wear that my bike has experienced over the years. All the different tires that I have used. Decided to try the WWW Dunlop 404 again and can live with the tire mileage. Love the look, everytime I stop someone has to come over and tell me how nice the bike looks. WWW & the Diamond Cut Fins, Thanks Mike. If you are not riding as much stay with the Dunlop 404 unless Michelin comes out with the front and rear. Guess you will find out if it has the leveling links or not, that makes a difference as to the tire sizes you run. Bike looks great, glad you have a bike in the garage, hard to be without even if you don't ride that often. How can you beat the Yamaha Bike Value! -
[*=left]Jake Wilson [*=left]on web site today [*=left]Since I changed my rear shock and improved front forks I have gotten 10,000 miles out of the front & rear. That said it is not bad for the roads I ride and how hard I ride. Looks great! Thanks again Eck! After you and Dragonrider have lunch! You need to ride the back roads up to Valley Head and then back over to Huntsville. Which I could make it tomorrow but work has been busy as of late. Have a great day and thanks again.
-
Eck, That would be greatly appreciated. What do you need from me? Or can you get it all from the ad here? Thanks again.
-
Eck Rodger that! Guess I need to get it listed on Craigslist also!
-
Eck, Did someone from the sight buy it? Or did you list some other place? I have not even had a call on the one I am trying to sell for my dad.

Alberta's Icefields Parkway / Rider Magazine Article
Cowboy replied to Cowboy's topic in Watering Hole
Looks like I will be pulling the my Bushtec Trailer so we will have a tent, air mattress, cooking stove, coffee pot, & cooler for food & our cold weather gear. The wife and I travel with all the comforts of home. I guess some would say we travel with to much but as long as we are comfortable it does not matter otherwise. As for the roads mentioned in the lower 48 I would have to say great roads mentioned and have ridden all and will hit a few as we travel home. Last June we made a great tour of some great national parks. Trip started in Tao, NM. to Pagosa Springs, CO. to Durango, CO.to Ouray, Co. to Monument Valley, AZ to Natural Bridges National Monument, UT Capitol Reef National Park, to Bryce National Park, to Cedars National Park, to North Rim of Grand Canyon, to Zion National Park, Then North to Grand Teton National Park, To Glacier National Park the road to the sun, over to Many Glaciers, back over the road to the sun, South back down to Yellowstone National Park down to south entrance and then out the North East Entrance to ride 14A over to Sheridian, WY to Estes National Park and Home. This year we really wanted to just concentrate on the riding area around the Alberta's Icefields Parkway and Lake Louise and Baniff and back down to Waterton National Park back over the road to the sun and head to Fort Collins to see friends and home. Sounds like I might need to get some bear proof containers and bear spray since I cannot carry over the boarder! Sounds like I might need to have an extra coat or two of wax for all the bugs!! Bug Repellent Thanks All -
Alberta's Icefields Parkway / Rider Magazine / Questions 1. Who has ridden this area? 2. What time of year is the earliest you would try and ride? 3. What type of camp grounds could we expect to find? a. Electric needed! b. Hot Showers needed! 4. What is the dollar exchange rate lately? 5. Thinking of leaving the Ellijay, Georgia on May 24th a. Ellijay to Troy, MI b. Troy, Mi to Thunder Bay, ON c. Thunder Bay, ON to Winnipeg, Manitoba d. Winnipeg, Manitoba to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan e. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Edmonton, Alberta f. Edmonton, Alberta to Jasper, Alberta g. Jasper, Alberta to Glacier National Park, Montana f. Glacier National Park, Montana to Red Lodge, Montana g. Red Lodge, Montana to Fort Collins, Colorado h. Fort Collins, Colorado to Ellijay, Georgia Thanks for any insight!!

Rick, You know pictures are needed and place of purchase Looking good with the rebuild, by the way. Later AKA Cowboy

Is there any particular reason you want Steamboat Springs as your base? Better and more scenic in my opinion is South of I-70. However as Eck has mapped out Hwy 14 thru Poudre Canyon and the up and over Trail Ridge in Estes National Park are a must. South Fork, Colo. to Pagosa Springs, Colo. South Fork, Colo. to Creede, Colo. to Gunnison, Colo. Montrose, Colo. to Durango Colo. to Cortez, Colo. Mesa Verda National Park, to Telluride, Colo. Note: South Fork or Creede is the head waters of the Rio Grande River great trout fishing. Take a day and rent a jeep or ATV's and do the Alpine Loop if you want a real adventure. So much to do and so little time. Colorado is a great place and has so much to offer. Hope you have a great trip!!
-
You better start trying to find a place. That is the busiest time of year. That is the middle of October Fest! Be prepared for all types of weather. Hot or Cold.
-
We will make it better next go round. That was cool! Looks like you might have had a good time. Just remember stay off the yellow line. Later Guys Til Next time! Cowboy

Looks like things are fixed after I Bleed the clutch last night. Did not see air bubbles but it is hard to see. I drove over the Road to the Son today and over to Many Glaciers then back to West Glacier without the trailer and all the luggage. The bike shifted in any gear with any RPM's , should make it home with no more issues. Thanks to all for the input! Eck I have always shifted the bike as you mentioned or at least 65% of the time. Thanks again
-
I think this might be the area I tackle first. I can pick-up a tube for bleeding before I go any further, Mainly concerned that I would not be hurting the bike to continue to ride. Shifted smooth all day today, However I never tried to shift without the bike being in the proper torque or RPM range as you mentioned. Linkage does have wear issues and the way the linkage is attached with the ball joints being attached with a rivnut type bolt wear and eventually breaking I would guess. As soon as I make it home I will order a new linkage. Thanks for the offer to help fix and great information as always. Would like to swing back down but between this heat wave and needing to get back to the house, I had better try and ease back to Georgia. Thanks again Brian Shoemaker

1. New Barrett Clutch Kit with All new Fiber Disc & Steel Plates put in before we left home. 2. New Clutch Fluid before we left, so the fluid is not that bad, I make it a regular habit to change. Wondering about the Syncronizer and how it works, not much on transmission knowledge. Just hope I do not get stuck and have to haul the bike home. Thanks

Need some thoughts and possible solutions for a problem shifting in two third gear. On the way up to Glacier National Park from The Grand Tetons and the bike is having problems shifting into third gear. If I keep the bike in a slightly higher rev range it seems to shift fine. Down shifting is also not a problem. It is when you do not have rev'd or should I say torqued that it will not shift into third, or forth, or fifth. Possible problems I have no Idea. Need help. Will be trying to get it back to Ellijay, Ga. as soon as I get over the Road to the Sun. Turned 112,500 miles this afternoon. Help in ideas. Do you think it will leave me stranded? Thanks Brian Shoemaker
