  1. Spyder is out of the question. I tried one and it just doesn't work for long lets. In addition to that, I don't want to spend that much money. I'm leaning towards another RSV but also considering the Voyager Vaquero.
  2. Not for me. I took one for a test ride last week. The heat was a killer.
  3. Well Craig, you were right about the wave runners. They are a LOT of fun. As for the boat? I actually have it up for sale also. Last year I decided to put it in a slip on Lake Erie. That cost me $2,000.00 for he season. I thought that if it was in the water, we would use it more. Nope...we didn't. Oh we used it more....as a camper in the slip. I think we only took it out on the water maybe 3 times and they were short periods. The fact is, we just really don't like Lake Erie. If it was Lake Cumberland, that would be a different thing altogether. So the boat is also for sale. We will keep the Waverunners and just take them wherever we want. We have considered buying a used Houseboat and keeping it at Cumberland. That is still not out of the question but I think it needs to wait a few years until retirement gets here. It's just such a long drive that I don't think we'll get down there as often as we would like to. Heck....I can rent a houseboat two or three times a year for what I paid for dockage and insurance to keep the boat at Erie. I will still likely buy another bike. Maybe soon and maybe not, I don't know yet. There are a lot of low mileage RSVs around in the $6,000 dollar range. I would make Dan an offer on my old one if he hadn't decided to play crash gordon on it.
  4. I agree with the other comments here. It is certainly possible that something has happened to it but I've never heard of one going bad either.
  5. All Pinwalls parts are used. They buy and part out bikes. I've had good luck with them.
  6. I have actually found a couple of RSVs that I'm considering. Just haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. Time will tell. There are some good deals around if you look. I did fair on the Harley. Could have been a lot worse. I actually had it listed a little cheaper here than I did on Craigslist. Sold it on Craigslist for what I was asking though. Was close to changing my mind about selling it so i would not have come down on it. I DID obey my own rules here and never posted it in the forum, only in the classifieds.
  7. Well, if everything goes according to plan, I will be without a bike after tomorrow. I sold the Harley this week. I still have it primarily because I am out of town and can't do all the paperwork until I get home. I've had enough calls from his credit union getting the paperwork ready though that I expect it to be a done deal when I get home. I don't know what I'll do now. There are a few reasons that I sold the Harley but the biggest one is probably that we don't ride much. Where we used to ride 15,000 - 20,000 miles some summers, that had dropped to 5,000 miles or so. Last summer it got even worse as we probably only put about 500 miles on the bike. Most long weekends and etc. we seemed to end up a the lake. So while I really don't want to give up riding, I had a fairly expensive bike that spent way too much time sitting in the garage begging to be ridden. So now I have to decide what to replace it with. Of course my first inclination is to pick up one of the many of low mileage RSVs that are floating around out there. It is still one of my all time favorite bikes. The only slight downside is that so many aftermarket accessories have become so hard to find. I seriously doubt that I would dress it out as fully as the '99 that I sold but there are some things that I would absolutely want. The best thing would be to find a used one that already has some of those things on it but after that, it is mostly Ebay. The one other thing that I REALLY liked on the Harley was the fuel injection. I can live without it though. It's not like I don't know how to sync carbs and I honestly had no problem with the carbs on the RSV. So, I have some decisions to make but I'm in no hurry. Maybe I need to take a break completely this summer.
  8. Yes. If you look at the cable coming out of the antenna base on the left side, you should find that it goes into the black plastic box under the trunk. That is where the CB is. Many dealers didn't know the difference and just screwed them on at random. There is a connection under the read seat and I have seen them come apart. That is possible that it just needs to be reseated or something. Easy enough to check.
  9. Yes, you need to move them. The CB antenna has a load coil that is absolutely needed by the CB. That being said, unless it has been used a lot and it has actually damaged the CB, it is not likely causing the error. It needs to be swapped though so do that first and try again. I've never known of the connections in the CB under the trunk needing to be cleaned. As for the antennas, it just the masts that you need to change. Simply screw them off an swap them. Will take you 5 minutes tops.
  10. By the way, here is a pretty good article about this scam. In the comments at the bottom you will see posts from some people who fell for it. https://www.carbuyingtips.com/articles/blog/fake-vehicle-history-report-sites-stealing-credit-cards.htm
  11. Glad they didn't get you. Just curious, was it from one of those sites that I posted?
  12. Yes, you were apparently old before you time.
  13. Replaced the one on the '99 that I sold Dan with an aftermarket at around 25,000 miles.
  14. If you look in the motorcycle forums on Craigslist, you will find a lot of warnings similar to this one. I got one of these emails myself a while back and handled it as stated above. Now I won't even reply at all: --- BEWARE!! motorcycle buyer Scam trying to get cre 2016-03-15 16:16BEWARE! BEWARE of a new scam targeting people selling motorcycles. The person uses various fake names and claims to be interested in your motorcycle, but only if you run a VIN check on uscyclevin.com or cyclevin.com (same site). The person claims they will pay you back if they buy your bike, but only if you use uscyclevin.com because they claim it is less expensive than carfax. Do not fall for it. They are just trying to get your credit card number and other personal information. If you receive an email from someone wanting you to use uscyclevin.com or cyclevin.com, do not bother to reply, just delete it.
  15. I can't answer your question but I'll tell you this. There are a lot of scammers out there now who are asking for the reports. They will tell you that they are good with your price and are ready to make a deal but want to see a report first. They tell you to buy the report and send it to them and then if it is OK, they will come and give you cash for the bike. They will even send you a link to a site that runs the reports. They either own those sites are get a commission for every report that they sell. It's a big scam and it pretty widespread now. I tell them to bring their money and lay it on the table. I will pay for an run the report in front of them and if it is good, I will put their money in my pocket. If it is bad, they can pick up their money and leave. They never accept that offer and insist that they will buy whatever it is and pay for the report if it is good. Just a SCAM alert for you. Don't fall for it.
  16. Cyclegear comes up but Cyclegadgets does not. Maybe that is what he meant.
  17. I don't think that he has passed away. He's in the final stages of the terrible disease and it just unable to talk any longer.
  18. LOL....you better hope she doesn't see this.
  19. I was an electrician for about 20 years. The last 12 years of that was a power plant in NE Texas. We had three smoke stacks, the tallest being 640 ft. There were capacitance discharge lights on top that had to be maintained. I think there was about 60 electricians there at the time and only about 6 of us were willing to climb the stack and work on the lights. There was no elevator that would take you part of the way and no winding stairs. Just a ladder straight up the side with a couple of platforms to rest if you needed to. The worse time was during some maintenance on the stack and they had the walkway around the top torn out. One of the lights went out so I had go go up and repair it. I got to the top to find no grating there and only 2 x 6 boards placed around the top. They would bounce as you walked around. It was scary but you got used to it and got the job done. I told them many times that the concrete was deteriorating and needed some attention. Was never taken seriously. I eventually left that job and about a year after I left, I saw on the national news that the stack and fallen. Apparently they were doing some cleaning inside at the bottom and bumped the side or something. Due to the deterioration that I and others had warned them about, that 640 ft. stack fell. Two or three people were killed.
  20. He was pretty remarkable. I agree that it's sad what Alzheimers does to people. Thanks for the post. I really enjoyed that. I continue to play the guitar for my own enjoyment. It does NOT come natural to me and I will never be good. It is sort of my way to relax though. Never play for anybody...just me.
  21. I don't use Amsoil but I certainly think it is good oil.
  22. I know how you feel Craig. I had planned to maybe mow today but then I looked outside this morning. May have to hold off on that plan.
  23. Yea, I'm running the dual compound and I THINK, but not sure, that they are radials as well. I've only got 9,000 miles on it right now. I think that the best I ever got on the RSV was around 12,000 to 13,000 miles. I never got a chance to try the E3. Tires I did try were the stock Dunlop, Michelin Commander and the Avon Venoms. They all got approximately the same for me. Based upon what I can see so far, I think the rear on the Harley is going to get into that same range. I see reports all the time of people getting 17,000 and now even 25,000 miles out of a rear tire on the RSV and I don't doubt it because I know they are honest folk but I don't understand it either. I keep mine at the right pressures and don't ride all that hard but I can't even imagine getting that kind of longevity out of a rear tire.
  24. I don't think you can edit a poll question after it has started. As for that other thread, I deleted it for you. So does that make me kind hearted and a gentle spirit? OK..I was wrong. I was able to edit the question. I also changed option 1 and option 5 because he said he gets over 25,000 miles on an E3 and that is a motorcycle tire, not a car tire.

    Question ...

I've not know it to be a problem. The first year, 1999, there was a problem but Yamaha provided a repair kit that consisted of large washers and a rubber pad under the rear on the support rack. After that, I don't know of any real problems.
