  1. HD Clothing will still be worn. I don't care. Probably won't add the light bar since it has the running/brake light in the spoiler. Flag pole will be ordered today. Tach? I don't know. Had one on the '99 but don't know that I really need it. We'll see. I added the front fender rail myself. He had the chrome tip on it and Yamaha says that the rail won't work with the chrome tip. Incorrect, it works fine. Moving the trunk back now and can't find any nuts to fit so have to run to the hardware store. Triple diamond cut fins from @eusa1 or on the way via UPS as we speak. I'll be out of town when they get here though so won't get them installed until next weekend. As for the run/turn/brake lights. I will add that wen I run across one at a decent price. I assume you are talking about the Harley part like I had on the '99.
  2. OK...here is the short recap. Got to Cincinnati around noon. Looked the bike over and found that it as pretty much as described. Nice visit with the current owner. His dad bought the bike brand new and then had some heart problems and couldn't ride it. Most of the Chrome was ordered the day that he bought the bike and included pretty much everything available at the time. After his son bought it, he ordered a Russell Daylong seat for it and send the Utopia backrest and the passenger backrest to Russell to be recovered to match the new heated seat. The bike is 11 years old so I can't say that it is absolutely perfect but pretty dang close for a bike that old. When I got there, it actually had 19,173 miles on it. So Eileen visited for a few minutes and then headed home. I went with the owner to the DMV and changed over the title and got tags for it then headed home. The bike ran very well. No problems at all. It has the typical Venture whine. Not excessive and probably about the same as the '99 had. It has unmodified Harley mufflers off a 2015 Harley. I tried Harley mufflers on the '99 and wasn't crazy about the. These are different somehow and sound great but much louder than the ones I had tried before and I think they may be too loud for me. We'll see. I will probably be looking for another set of RSTD mufflers with the tips like I had on the '99. After trying a lot of different muffles over the years, I really like the OEM quietness of the original mufflers but with the RSTD tips. The seat was comfortable. He told me that by the time he added heat to the drivers portion and then had the Utopia and passenger backrest recovered to match, that this seat cost him $1200.00. Be that as it may, I'm not sure I like it. I really liked the Corbin seat and backrest and wrap around passenger backrest that I had on the '99. I'll give this one a little longer but will probably sell it and buy a Corbin. I knew that it had most of the chrome on it that I had added to the '99 but then I kept finding other little bits and pieces that I didn't have before. I also discovered that it already has Stainless Steel brake lines front and rear. A Kuryakyn volt meter that seems to work very well. HID lights in the headlight and passing lights. I'm sure I'll miss something but at least a partial list of chrome includes ball milled carb covers, twinky covers and air breather covers. Chrome gas tank mount covers, chrome brake reservoir covers, chrome passenger foot peg backing plates, chrome front brake caliper covers, Kuryakyn grips with throttle rocker (they may go too...didn't like them when I tried them on the '99), Kuryakyn highway pegs (will have to order the Longhorn extensions), Chrome front fender tip and rear fender tip, Chrome headlight and turn signal visor and rear tail light cover, Kuryakyn rear brake pad, Kuryakyn shift peg covers, chrome ignition bezel, Yamaha luggage rack, Yamaha trunk spoiler, Yamaha saddle bag rails. He has changed all the speakers to J&P or something like that. Still the disappointing Yamaha sound though. No big deal because we use earbuds anyway. Has the Wagner grill guard. Tall/Vented Cleaview shield. Has a Marines decal on it. Hope I can remove it without it causing any damage. I support the troops but was not a Marine so do feel right with it on there. I'm probably missing some stuff but that's most of it. Here are some not so good pictures. It was a lot cleaner before I headed home. Maybe I'll wash it again someday. I had decided that the whitewall tires will indeed go away when they need changing. Tires are decent but will probably need replacing before the end of the summer.
  3. Got home long ago. Was about frozen to death. Paul, (Motiv) here, called when I was almost home and asked if we wanted to go to dinner with he and his wife so...I got home about 5:30, took a hot shower and then they stopped by around 7:00 and we went to diner. NOT on the bikes. It was a nice evening but I was NOT getting on that bike again tonight. So....things are good. I'm tired. More tomorrow but everything went great.
  4. About an hour from home. Bikes running great. I'm cold as all.....whatever. About 40 and misting rain on and off. Would already be home but I keep having to stop and cleans these stupid white walls.
  5. Good to hear. I don't know if this one has them or not. Getting ready to go ride it home so I'll know in a few hours. I had the SS brackets and polished deflectors on the '99. If Dan shows up at MD, I can get them back after he goes to sleep.
  6. LOL...I still have most of it. Lift adapter, Carbtune, manual....I'm in pretty good shape.
  7. Yes, I've seen it done that way and it should work find. I still kind of like them more tucked in though. We'll see.
  8. Look forward to seeing you again Dan. Don't worry about that paint. I've got several brushes here. We'll get it done.
  9. You are probably right. I changed throttle, clutch and brake lines on the '99. It didn't have the risers and went 2" over on everything and it worked great. I've seen a lot of posts here though where people didn't change them. I like the SS anyway so may go ahead and do it. Don't remember where I got them so will have to do some research. No, haven't waxed the boat yet. Did some cleaning but mostly on the inside. A little on the outside. Started it for the first time after being winterized and she fired right up. Runs so good that I don't even care if it sells or not.
  10. Unless I find that the new bike already has them, I will be looking for some Flanders handlebars. Had them on the '99 and really liked them. Cheapest I've found them so far is about $141.00. A lot of places show them out of stock. Does anybody know of a place that has them any cheaper? On the '99, I also installed SS brake, clutch and throttle cables but a lot of people here made the stock ones work so I'll probably try that at first and add the SS lines a bit further down the road. Spending too much on this stuff right now.
  11. I won't know until I pick my bike up tomorrow but it sort of looks to me like it has one on it. If it does, I may let you have it if you don't find one. I really don't care for them. I know that they make it easier to split the fairing but they also cause the lower wind deflectors to be out further and I don't like that and don't think it is good for them. Let's them flex and causes them to break.
  12. Well tomorrow is the big day. My wife will drive me down to Cincinnati tomorrow to pick up the bike. Hopefully the weather will clear up a bit because it has been raining here all day and a bit on the cool side also. 45 and rain here right now so that will not be optimal weather. Either way, I'm riding it home tomorrow. Really kind of excited about it.
  13. Looks GREAT. Very nice job.
  14. I agree with Bob....you would need to be very careful. I didn't put anything on mine and never had another problem.
  15. LOL...no problem my friend. I was a traitor either way. I will miss many things about the Road Glide but I missed things about the RSV also.
  16. hmmm....21 views and no takers of this fantastic deal. You must all be as lazy as I am.
  17. That's it...no catch...well...maybe ONE small catch but it's nothing really. All I need you to do in exchange is wax and buff my little boat. That's all. Well...the only other thing is to try and not wake me from my nap if I fall asleep watching you. It's that time of the year and I HATE waxing this thing. Probably be easier if I bought a buffer but I haven't and do it all by hand. I just pulled it out today and it really needs a good cleaning. On another note, if it doesn't sell before maintenance day, I will gladly let somebody use it as a camper if they want to. No A/C but it has a small refrigerator, TV with Neflix active, coffee pot and etc. It has a bathroom but you can't use it because I don't want to have to take it somewhere and pump it out.
  18. Touring Russell should be interesting. I'm anxious to try the one on my new bike. It's only a 225 mile ride home but that should give me an idea if I'm going to like it or not.
  19. Not unusual at all. Just tap it back in and you are good to go. I had one come out. Just tapped it back in and it never came out again.
  20. OK....leveling links ordered. WOW...and I thought that there was nothing I would be able to add to this bike. I keep remembering things. Will probably forgo the VMax rear and Dyna 3000 for now though.
  21. Well...I haven't even picked it up yet and IT has started. Triple Diamond Cut fins ordered from @eusa1 Also noticed that there is no front fender rail on it...just got that taken care of thanks to Ebay. Working with Nanci, @Luvdaleather on a tank bib and maybe saddlebag lid covers. Things are moving right along.
  22. I'm not even sure but I think they are Dunlops. I'll know more when I pick it up on Friday. I've had good luck with the Michelin Commanders but my preference has been the Avons. That being said, from the reports that I've read, I would probably try the Dunlop E3 next time.
  23. I have SOS pads and Bleche White in the garage. I'll try them until it's time to replace them but likely won't go back with them. We'll see. I think they look fine but not only do I not look forward to keeping them clean but the tires that I prefer don't come in whitewalls. Maybe I'll change my mind.....we'll see.
  24. No he wasn't. Said that he had visited a few times but was not a member of any online sites or clubs. Seems like a nice guy. He has several bikes including a Road Glide and a Road Star among others. His dad bought this one new and ordered all the chrome and etc. the day he bought the bike. He then had heart trouble though and never got to ride it much. So he bought it from his Dad a couple of years ago but he just hasn't ridden it much either.
