  1. LOL.....I'm still trying to figure out who EARL is.
  2. Now that I think of it, I think that IS normal. I think I sat it up that way originally because I just wanted it to be ads and not a discussion area. I had forgotten about that but now that you've reminded me, I shouldn't post there either. Now for the tour pac question. To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no. I have seen a few RSVs converted in that manner but it required more than a little bit of work and finding the right bits and pieces.
  3. LOL....that was good my friend. I CAN tell the difference though. Especially on a hot day.
  4. Just got off the phone with Russell Seats. They received my Corbin passenger backrest yesterday and just told me that it should be recovered and shipped back to me by Friday. Much faster than I expected. Things are coming together nicely. I also found and bought a pair of the long ago discontinued Royal Star thick foam grips like I had on the '99 and loved. I like the way the KuryAkyn grips look though so will try them with the weights before I give up on them completely.
  5. But...it all sounded so convincing.
  6. There are two solutions that I know of. Mic Mutes is great. I had it on the '99 and it worked very well. Passenger or rider just toggles the push to talk button to active or deactivate the mic. Installation requires some time but not very hard to do. http://mic-mutes.com The other solution is a plug and play by AirRider. Just plugs into your cables. Have not used it but heard that it works fine also. http://www.airrider.com/AIR_RIDER_5_PIN_MIC_ON_OFF_SWITCH_p/03-04-75-ar.htm
  7. What amazes me more than anything else is the price of used Royal Star Ventures that are on the market. It's great if you are a buyer but not so good if you are the seller. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a used RSV is the best value out there. Opinions about looks are entirely subjective but I still think that the RSV is one of the best looking bikes ever built. We all know that the V4 will run 200,000 and more with no major issues. OK...there are a few downsides and some people don't even consider them issues. There is a cassette deck. Big deal, there are multiple ways to use Pandora, XM, etc. It is there but doesn't hurt anything and if it really bothers you, just yank it out and install some gauges there. It has carbs instead of fuel injection. Some people actually prefer the carbs. Personally, I would rather have fuel injection but it's certainly not a big issue to me. They don't have ABS. Some people would like to have it, other don't care for it. The Harley had ABS and it was fine but I honestly don't care one way or the other. All I know is that you can't buy a full blown touring bike of any other brand for anywhere near what you can buy a RSV for.
  8. Well folks, I think I am pretty much done with the new bike. My Corbin backrest arrived at Russell yesterday to be recovered. Hopefully it won't take TOO long but it's not like I'm without a backrest at all. Drink holders and etc. have shipped and should be at my house soon. GPS mount should be arriving soon also. Carbon_One's crash bar stiffeners are on the way. One of the last remaining items was a flag mount which I ordered this morning so I can continue to fly my VentureRider flag. Should have taken the one off the Road Glide but forgot about it until I had already finalized the deal when I sold it. So......it's pretty much done now. I look forward to getting the few remaining items installed and then will take some pictures. I may even ride it pretty soon. Haven't been on it since I got it home due to weather and other obligations but I'm anxious to get it on the road. Will also likely change the oil this weekend. He said that it was done about a thousand miles ago but I want to do it myself and get my favorite Mobil 1 Racing 4 in it.
  9. I wish that Diamond R still had some of their ss brackets and deflectors. That is the one thing that I've not been able to find for my new ride. Had them on the '99.
  10. That looks good but I have a couple of questions. You say that it works great with your music and GPS. You must be using the phone or whatever for both GPS and Music because it says that though it can connect to two different devices, it can only receive audio from one at a time. So If I connect my Zumo to it for GPS and my phone for Pandora, it appears that I have to choose which one I want to hear. Is that correct? Also, it says battery or A/C. Have you found, or looked for, a dc adapter so that you don't need batteries? I would like to mount something like that inside the fairing but that would only work if you didn't need access to change the batteries.
  11. I've learned that Harley has made several different styles for their touring bikes. I had bought a set for the '99 and they were just barely louder than the stock mufflers. They had plates and bafflers and you couldn't see through them and they did not have catalytic convertors in either side. The 2005 that I just bought had Harley mufflers on it, still des but I have a set of OEM off a RSTD to replace them, but these Harley mufflers are LOUD. The previous owner said that the are unmodified off a 2015 model. He says that you can see all the way through them. He had three sets of unmodified Harley touring mufflers on the shelf and said that if you looked into them, they were all different. It was news to me. I thought that except for a few years when they put the catalytic converter in the right side muffler, that they were all the same. Apparently not.
  12. Somebody has put Harley mufflers on it. The harley mufflers do not use the gaskets. They should tighten up.
  13. You could also look at the Corbin passenger backrest. It wraps around a bit and that might make her feel more secure. My wife loves it because it gives her a place to rest her elbows also.
  14. :happy65::happy65::happy65::happy65::happy65::happy65::happy65: Very good. I can see why you are so proud. You should be.
  15. I sent them an email. The order shows "processing" so hopefully they can change it since it hasn't shipped. If not, I'll probably just return it and get the 1" version.
  16. Maybe the Radio and GPS forums would be better but your question is OK here. I will point out though that for sale ads are not allowed in the forums though, only in the classifieds section. It's ok though to get some input on the values.
  17. Yes, it's a speed sensor. It is tight but should come out.
  18. This is the one that I ordered. I don't know if I can make it work or not but I'm thinking I can make a bushing or something and make it work. If not, I'll return it. They had one with a 1" clamp but I had it in my mind that 1" was too small.
  19. Only for a few miles. Rode Stardbogs after he put a car tire on the rear at MD one year. I personally didn't care for it but part of that may have been that I was not used to the way the car tire felt.
  20. Well heck, I was afraid of that. I ordered one with a 1 1/4" clamp. Maybe I can figure out a way to make ti work. I may be able to fabricate some type of bushing for it.
  21. The newest thing that they show on their website is the 2014 model. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/cruiser-touring/models/stratoliner-deluxe
  22. I haven't heard anything. There was a lot of talk about a version of them being used for the basis of a new Venture but now they aren't even listed any longer. Seems that Yamaha pulled the plug on them also.
  23. I am out of town and looking at various drink holders on line. I'm looking for a passenger drink holder. Can somebody measure the passenger grip rain/hand hold on the Second Gen and tell me what the diameter is? I'm talking about the rubber coated rail just under edge of the passenger seat.
  24. I didn't know that. I just called though and we are reserved for the outside patio on Friday June 10th. I don't know how many of us there will be yet but I told her to figure between 50 and 75. She did confirm that they had been bought out but said that so far there has been nothing but good changes.
