  1. Eileen and I rode one in 2009 also. It actually felt good to us and she said she was very comfortable on it. The heat issue is a concern though. The only thing that I didn't like about the Road Glide was the excessive heat. I don't want to get into that again. I haven't done my own thorough research yet but based upon what you guys have said, I guess I'll keep looking for another RSV. Even if the problem was greatly improved in 2012, I'm not going to spend what a 2012 would cost me. I'll probably end up with a 2004 or so RSV. There are a lot of low mileage ones out there in the $5500 to $6500 range. I'm actually already considering a 2006 Black Cherry. It has more miles on it than I could find elsewhere but also has about every accessory I would want already on it. I don't know....I'm not really in a hurry. I even thought about taking the summer off this year and seeing how it does without a bike. Feels wrong though. I've been riding since I was 14.
  2. I know that just like the RSV, there are what looks like some bargains out there. Here is one that I've found. It's a 2009 with ABS and just over 14,000 miles. Asking price is $7500.00
  3. I too have heard that the Voyagers run hot. I know that at some point they made some changes. Not only did they add some heat shields but something with the engine also. It is liquid cooled so I can't believe it would be as hot as the RoadGlide was. I doubt I will go that route but they have some pretty good deals on the new ones right now. Suggested list with ABS is $17,399 and right now they are offering a $2,000 rebate AND 0% interest. I would sure have to take a look if I was looking to buy new. I don't think that includes the CB though and it's an expensive option.
  4. I agree Eck. I really don't care that it didn't get cleaned. I usually find them in the hallways somewhere and get some more coffee. After that, I'll good to go.
  5. Well I've got a nibble on the boat but he want's to trade a Harley towards it. That would be find but it's not one that I would want to keep so if I take it on trade, I will immediately put it up for sale. It's a 2004 Softail Standard, FXSTI. He says that it has 7500 miles on it. Just not my cup of tea. Not sure I even want to mess with it but will decide if he is serious and brings it over for me to look at.
  6. Yea, the ONLY reason I have the Avalanche is to pull the boat. Otherwise, it just sits in the driveway. So if the boat gets sold, it will be next. I think it will be very easy to sell. It's hard to find a nice 3/4 ton Avalanche.
  7. LOL...you never know what they will give you. On my trip this week, I got back to the hotel around 5:30 every day and they had not cleaned my room. It didn't get cleaned all week.
  8. May have to. New owner just pulled out of the driveway with it. I'll admit it was a bit sad. Now moving right along.
  9. Spyder is out of the question. I tried one and it just doesn't work for long lets. In addition to that, I don't want to spend that much money. I'm leaning towards another RSV but also considering the Voyager Vaquero.
  10. Not for me. I took one for a test ride last week. The heat was a killer.
  11. Well Craig, you were right about the wave runners. They are a LOT of fun. As for the boat? I actually have it up for sale also. Last year I decided to put it in a slip on Lake Erie. That cost me $2,000.00 for he season. I thought that if it was in the water, we would use it more. Nope...we didn't. Oh we used it more....as a camper in the slip. I think we only took it out on the water maybe 3 times and they were short periods. The fact is, we just really don't like Lake Erie. If it was Lake Cumberland, that would be a different thing altogether. So the boat is also for sale. We will keep the Waverunners and just take them wherever we want. We have considered buying a used Houseboat and keeping it at Cumberland. That is still not out of the question but I think it needs to wait a few years until retirement gets here. It's just such a long drive that I don't think we'll get down there as often as we would like to. Heck....I can rent a houseboat two or three times a year for what I paid for dockage and insurance to keep the boat at Erie. I will still likely buy another bike. Maybe soon and maybe not, I don't know yet. There are a lot of low mileage RSVs around in the $6,000 dollar range. I would make Dan an offer on my old one if he hadn't decided to play crash gordon on it.
  12. I agree with the other comments here. It is certainly possible that something has happened to it but I've never heard of one going bad either.
  13. All Pinwalls parts are used. They buy and part out bikes. I've had good luck with them.
  14. I have actually found a couple of RSVs that I'm considering. Just haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. Time will tell. There are some good deals around if you look. I did fair on the Harley. Could have been a lot worse. I actually had it listed a little cheaper here than I did on Craigslist. Sold it on Craigslist for what I was asking though. Was close to changing my mind about selling it so i would not have come down on it. I DID obey my own rules here and never posted it in the forum, only in the classifieds.
  15. Well, if everything goes according to plan, I will be without a bike after tomorrow. I sold the Harley this week. I still have it primarily because I am out of town and can't do all the paperwork until I get home. I've had enough calls from his credit union getting the paperwork ready though that I expect it to be a done deal when I get home. I don't know what I'll do now. There are a few reasons that I sold the Harley but the biggest one is probably that we don't ride much. Where we used to ride 15,000 - 20,000 miles some summers, that had dropped to 5,000 miles or so. Last summer it got even worse as we probably only put about 500 miles on the bike. Most long weekends and etc. we seemed to end up a the lake. So while I really don't want to give up riding, I had a fairly expensive bike that spent way too much time sitting in the garage begging to be ridden. So now I have to decide what to replace it with. Of course my first inclination is to pick up one of the many of low mileage RSVs that are floating around out there. It is still one of my all time favorite bikes. The only slight downside is that so many aftermarket accessories have become so hard to find. I seriously doubt that I would dress it out as fully as the '99 that I sold but there are some things that I would absolutely want. The best thing would be to find a used one that already has some of those things on it but after that, it is mostly Ebay. The one other thing that I REALLY liked on the Harley was the fuel injection. I can live without it though. It's not like I don't know how to sync carbs and I honestly had no problem with the carbs on the RSV. So, I have some decisions to make but I'm in no hurry. Maybe I need to take a break completely this summer.
  16. Yes. If you look at the cable coming out of the antenna base on the left side, you should find that it goes into the black plastic box under the trunk. That is where the CB is. Many dealers didn't know the difference and just screwed them on at random. There is a connection under the read seat and I have seen them come apart. That is possible that it just needs to be reseated or something. Easy enough to check.
  17. Yes, you need to move them. The CB antenna has a load coil that is absolutely needed by the CB. That being said, unless it has been used a lot and it has actually damaged the CB, it is not likely causing the error. It needs to be swapped though so do that first and try again. I've never known of the connections in the CB under the trunk needing to be cleaned. As for the antennas, it just the masts that you need to change. Simply screw them off an swap them. Will take you 5 minutes tops.
  18. By the way, here is a pretty good article about this scam. In the comments at the bottom you will see posts from some people who fell for it. https://www.carbuyingtips.com/articles/blog/fake-vehicle-history-report-sites-stealing-credit-cards.htm
  19. Glad they didn't get you. Just curious, was it from one of those sites that I posted?
  20. Yes, you were apparently old before you time.
  21. Replaced the one on the '99 that I sold Dan with an aftermarket at around 25,000 miles.
  22. If you look in the motorcycle forums on Craigslist, you will find a lot of warnings similar to this one. I got one of these emails myself a while back and handled it as stated above. Now I won't even reply at all: --- BEWARE!! motorcycle buyer Scam trying to get cre 2016-03-15 16:16BEWARE! BEWARE of a new scam targeting people selling motorcycles. The person uses various fake names and claims to be interested in your motorcycle, but only if you run a VIN check on uscyclevin.com or cyclevin.com (same site). The person claims they will pay you back if they buy your bike, but only if you use uscyclevin.com because they claim it is less expensive than carfax. Do not fall for it. They are just trying to get your credit card number and other personal information. If you receive an email from someone wanting you to use uscyclevin.com or cyclevin.com, do not bother to reply, just delete it.
  23. I can't answer your question but I'll tell you this. There are a lot of scammers out there now who are asking for the reports. They will tell you that they are good with your price and are ready to make a deal but want to see a report first. They tell you to buy the report and send it to them and then if it is OK, they will come and give you cash for the bike. They will even send you a link to a site that runs the reports. They either own those sites are get a commission for every report that they sell. It's a big scam and it pretty widespread now. I tell them to bring their money and lay it on the table. I will pay for an run the report in front of them and if it is good, I will put their money in my pocket. If it is bad, they can pick up their money and leave. They never accept that offer and insist that they will buy whatever it is and pay for the report if it is good. Just a SCAM alert for you. Don't fall for it.
  24. Cyclegear comes up but Cyclegadgets does not. Maybe that is what he meant.
  25. I don't think that he has passed away. He's in the final stages of the terrible disease and it just unable to talk any longer.
