  1. HEY HEY HEY.....you go back to your corner.
  2. Are you changing brake and clutch lines and throttle cables or trying to get by with your original ones?
  3. Do any of you who are attending my MD need any pinstriping done? If so, I will contact Jaybird and see if he can make it.
  4. Very nice and very well done. Has some nice extras on it too.
  5. Not much. Out of guardian bells. Have some domed decals. That's pretty much it right now. Maybe a flag or two.
  6. According the the write up, you can use a drill bit sized 15/32 or 12mm.
  7. Small patches only. I think the price is 3.00 each. Information is in the VentureRider Merchandise forum.
  8. That's what I really meant. I don't figure the bank and my house are going to BOTH burn. If they do, things are even worse than I thought.
  9. WOW...this is a 7 year old thread. The email you used was likely not correct if you got it from this thread. I got no payment from you. You need to cancel it and send it to dnelson@venturerider.org PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail but it will be Friday. I am out of town now.
  10. Bank safe deposit box is a good option.
  11. I've changed quiet a few tires and never had to replace the muffler gaskets. They usually stay in the mufflers and can be reused. Always did it with a lift and adapter. No problem. You have to get it pretty much all the way up before the rear tire will come out but it works fine.
  12. It's only sexy when Eileen is on it. And...I guess I bought the Harley taillights.
  13. Classified page, small menu bar at top, "upload ad". I'll give you time to see this and then delete this thread.
  14. Will probably try those. The ones that I had are no longer available from Yamaha. Those are pretty much the same thing. Will just have to find a pair of stock grips now.
  15. I'll try to give it a chance. Either way, will need to find a Corbin passenger backrest and then have it recovered by Russell. What a pain.
  16. At those prices, I'll probably pass on the Harley lights. Will likely go ahead with the light bar though. Fluids were all changed recently. Brake and Clutch fluids are nice and clear. Oil was also recently changed but he has always used Yamalube in it and I'll change it to Mobil 1 Motorcycle oil very soon. Maybe even today if I feel like messing with it. It rained all day yesterday and looks like it will again today. All I did yesterday was move the trunk to its rear position. I also discovered that the rubber bumpers on the back of the lower air deflectors were missing so I made some new ones out of rubber expansion nuts as I had done before. They work great for that. I have a set of RSTD mufflers with the tips on the way so I'll get it quietened down soon. Also have a line on a complete Corbin seat setup with drivers and passenger backrest. Just waiting on some pictures of it. May keep the Russell for a while but I just liked the Corbin better. Plus, my wife misses the wraparound armrests on the Corbin passenger backrest. If I REALLY end up liking the Russell, I'll send the Corbin passenger backrest to them and have it covered to match. About the only things I'm still deciding on is the tank bib and I have to get some longhorn highway peg mounts ordered. It has the Kuryakyn pegs and clamps but not the Longhorn mounts. Gotta have them. OH...and grips. I tried these Isogrips on the '99 and they made my fingertips get numb even though I had the stock weights on them. I like the way they look abut even by the time I did the 225 miles home the other day, my fingertips were numb again. They just don't work for me. I had some thick foam Road Star grips on the '99 and they were fantastic. I don't think they make them any longer but will see what I can find.
  17. I've seen this discussed before and I've never seen a solution to it. Wish I could help.
  18. I wouldn't mind trying those 10" ones.
  19. Just went out and checked and it does come on with the key. Worked fine but he did put a new battery on it yesterday before I picked it up. Will likely add a relay in the near future. I'll have to split the fairing at some point to wire up my GPS mount. Will probably just do it all then.
  20. At this point...I don't know what I need. I'm going to slow down and BREATH first. I think I found a set of RSTD mufflers and Nanci is working with me to a tank bib. The Longhorn peg mounts are a must. Beyond that, I think it's time to stop and see how I like it as is now. Still not sure about the seat but will give it a bit of time.
  21. I'll take a look at it and see how they are wired. I know that they come on and work fine but it also has a new battery on it. Thanks for the replies. I'll take a closer look when I have time. This guy was pretty thorough so he may have it all done right.
  22. OK, the 2005 Venture I bought has HID lights in the headlight and the running lights. It is wired so that the running lights are only on with the high beams. I had my '99 wired where they were on all the time unless I manually turned them off. This one has the manual switch on the running lights also. I may rewire it the way I had my old one wired. I had never paid much attention to the HID lights because I always planned to go with LEDs. Since they are installed though and seem to be VERY bright, I'll just stay with them. I know nothing except that he said he bought them from Trucklights or something like that. I think I've heard that company mentioned here a few times. Are they supposed to be pretty decent lights? I've also read where people put relays and etc. and something to do with the bike had to be running so full voltage is applied to fire them up. I have no idea how these are wired. I guess I'll have to split the fairing at some point to check it all out. Is there likely some type of relay or something to prevent them from coming on unless the bike is running? I haven't even looked to see if they come on with the ignition. Just want to know more abut what you folks think of the HID system.
  23. @cowpuc, that little thing with the numbers stamped on it is the Kuraykyn battery meter. The pillow top seats you have seen are stock Yamaha seats. I think they started using them in 2002 or so. The Corbin I had was smooth leather and hard as a brick. I loved it though. Shape was perfect. @Motiv, I may have heard you but have just learned to ignore you. @Mike G in SC, that is an excellent point. This seat is perfect for me in that regard because the previous owner who had it made is almost exactly my same height and weight. I'm about 6'2 and he may be 6'3. It would certainly not work for somebody much shorter.
