  1. LOL... When I bought my first VR it came with a receipt for a new rear caliper. Upon checking I found the inside of the saddle badly burnt. And it locked up shortly after.... again... That's when I finally found the expansion valve clogged. Course I ended up rebuilding the whole brake system because no one could come up with a reasonable answer as two why it was happening. I finally came up with the cause when dealing with rebuilding a slipping clutch and a plugged valve that I found by DAL..... Pulled the plastic elbow off the rear master and there was the duplicate problem. You can also stop at your local grocery store and grab a few of those wire ties from the produce section and strip off the paper or plastic. They'll work too.... and they're free!! I will only fill the reserve up to the middle of the sight glass. Plenty of room for expansion... Produce wire wraps/ties are Free.
  2. That is cool. Too bad they didn't show them breaking that chunk of rubber loose hanging off the back. A little more fairing, fenders, and rerouting the exhaust and they're getting into Stinger territory...
  3. This is a April Fools Joke.... yes??
  4. Yep, me too. Started out with a 5 gun, then picked up a 10 gun. I now have a 14 gun out in the bed of the pick up. Had to go bigger to handle all the stuff I have hidden under the bed, behind doors, and under the couch. Luckily I pick them up in estate auctions for cheap, and have more money to shop..
  5. Nice looking levers Van. I do have a Win 94 in 30wcf that satisfied my lever itch. The only reason I went with the Rossi is they were the only ones that produced a 454 Casull rifle, and that I could afford. There are several company's that make reproduction side arms, but I couldn't even imagine pulling the trigger on one of them. There are quite a few for sale on the used market.... Hmmm wonder why?? :-) Another reason is I bought 6 boxes of 454 in an auction, and nothing to shoot them in. Same thing on the 338RUM. 360 rounds of custom loaded Safari grade. Ergo the Stainless Remington 700LS. I've read about the Judge for many years but have never had the opportunity to hold one in the wild. Never realized they were that big.... From the first ad hype, I got the impression they were small and would fit in a purse.... You know the one showing a woman in an underground garage whipping out her Judge from her purse...and scaring her stalker off... Maybe they make two sizes???
  6. Your lucky Jeff. Wish they'd get rid of it here in the Kingdom of Kalifornia. I can understand Don amassing 80 guns in Texas. There are a few states out there that still respect the Second Amendment... My Ex got the boat, the house, the truck.... I got the toothbrush.... Those were tough times.
  7. Here's a pick of the Rossi 454 Casull. I'm picking this one up Saturday after being in purgatory for the 10 days. I'd been looking for one used in 20" to save a few bucks, but no luck. Then the owner contacted me with this stainless. Granted it's a 16" but after handling it I was sold. I was almost ready to pop for a new one. I could get one shipped to my FFL dealer for $583. The stainless was $600. However it had been gone through by Stevez Guns and it was butter smooth...better than new.
  8. I'm not much of a pistol guy, but I do have a Colt Trooper in 357 mag, and a S&W auto in 9mm. One of my criteria is all my guns have to shoot -AND- look good. I do have a 1944 Brno 22F copy of a Manlicher Schoennar in 7x57 in mint condition. Full stock, mauser action, double set triggers, butter knife bolt handle, iron sights only. Never been drilled for scope. Beautiful condition. How about a Safari Grade Ruger #1 in 7x57. Or a Remington Model Seven in 222rem (disc). Never fired, but will... :-) I do have a fetish for Remington 700's. Have 3 plus the 338 RUM. I counted 17 firearms the last time I added one, and none of them are for sale or trade.
  9. Since being in the firearm industry back in another life time, and now reaching an advanced age, over the last 4-5 years I've started collecting 'interesting unusual' rifles. Not old WWII clunkers. Never could get into military stuff, but rifles that were also good lookin'. In the last 2 months I ran into 4 interesting guns. Two I needed out of necessity and two because I was smitten. The first was an 1890 Winchester 22 pump... because I had one of the later Model 62A's. Smitten. The second was a 338RUM Remington 700LS. Need. The third was a Rossi 454 Casull lever action. Need. And the forth is another Remington 700BDLcustom in 30-06 that matches my 7mm RemMag custom. Smitten. I have to pick up the Rossi after the 10day is up this Saturday, and I'm afraid to walk into the store. Saw a beautiful custom mauser actioned 264 WinMag that was whispering in my ear that would absolutely drain the gun kitty. The kids have all said that if the poop hits the paddle they are all heading to my place....

  11. I just looked them up in the RSV parts manual. They're referred to as Mole 5, and Mole 6. What the 'H' that means is a mystery to me?? Eyebrows sounds better... :-) Maybe Mole is Japanese for eyebrow??
  12. I hope to shout. That's ridiculous..... Tell 'm to put on another tire....
  13. LOL.... Brace yourself. There's a polar vortex headed your way. My son is helping a buddy build a house addition in Harris IA, and he calls with daily updates. According to the weather gods he ain't out of the refrigerator yet.... Like everyone sez. Go take a Wing test ride..
  14. That looks way cool!!!! However, I gotta question. After looking at the specs on one of these things I couldn't find any listing for leg room. So for those that have them, What kind of seating space do they have for a big fat guy?? As far as stowing it when not in use, I have an 8x14 enclosed that would make a great mini garage.... Plus one more. Is there any way to pull a trailer with one?? That to me would solve the storage issue...
  15. Geeze!!!! I wrote this long story about running out of gas late on a Sunday night on my Ariel Square Four in the late 50's and it's disappeared?? Did I forget to hit the post button?? Oh, I remember. I left the page looking for a pic to post, and when I came back it was gone..... :-( So I said screw it...
  16. Solitare.... Raindar comes in a close second.....during the winter along with weather underground.... :-)
  17. Just a blank page for me.... ??
  18. I find it funny that here in California where IF CAUGHT they'll give you a ticket for using your cell phone while behind the wheel, but on those electronic signs it sez to call 911 to report drunk drivers.... While riding I just leave it on vibrate in the vest pocket. It'll take a missed call message. I'll call back if it's from the Power Ball folks...
  19. The best way to check the hydraulic side of the clutch system is to pull the pressure plate and lightly pull the lever with you finger over the rod tip. If it moves then it's mechanical. If it doesn't then it's hydraulic....
  20. Since it's pretty constant with starting and stoping have you thought about the front wheel bearings?? Could be a rumble from a worn race that disappears when rotations speed up?? Just a WAS.....
  21. Just a WAS here, but perhaps the systems on a car are designed to pump a lot of junk. I know one thing the orifice on the Venture's are a lot smaller than those on a Honda?? I'd almost think that hogging them out a couple sizes wouldn't hurt, and keep things unplugged...
  22. Yep, gotta keep an eye on that expansion hole.... It doesn't take much to plug it since it's so damn small. Happened to me while making a turn into the driveway. Needless to say it went down... slowly. It was the back brake on my VR this time. Moisture and DOT will form crystals when ignored, and they easily plug things up. That's why we should be bleeding every two years max. Yearly to be sure. It's also wise to carry an 8mm open end to crack the bleeder valve to relieve the pressure. It'll get you home without locking them up totally.
  23. Mic your banjos, and the check out Mcmaster. I picked up a fist full for around .30¢ apiece. Trouble is now I can't find them... But I do have them if needed and want to put the effort into finding them.... :-)
