Yesterday's ride was a pre-shopping trip. Today I took her to look at a few I found, we almost have one picked out. I'm not going to write the check until insurance settles on the wreck. Their insurance will want to settle quicker if I keep a rental on their dime. It'll be a couple weeks before she can drive again with the injuries and the pain meds. She's never been one to take pain meds but is looking forward to each dose right now. KY has weird no fault insurance laws, even though it was not her fault our insurance pays the medical bills, theirs will pay for the car. Once that is done our insurance company will bill theirs for repayment of medical bills, so I am having to deal with both right now. I do use a local agent that I know well so they are doing a lot for me thankfully. We have a bike trip scheduled in April so hopefully she's ready for that.

67 and sunny here in KY. Got in about 100 miles yesterday. Car shopping today with the boss so no riding. She got hit Sunday and totaled her Equinox, broken arm, cuts, and bruises so she's too sore to get on the bike.

Not to hijack but that looks like a jack knife waiting to happen. Anyone here pulled one? I bet it's also a treat to back up.

Hey we still have a DQ that closes Holloween night until March 1st. Still a walk up with a couple picnic tables. It's a huge tradition here to go on opening day.

Definitely synch carbs. Have you checked fuel filter, pump, and tank? Are you sure it's running on all four cylinders? They run surprisingly well on three, will idle on two and sometimes even one. Others that know a lot more than me will be along soon. Those are issues I've seen personally.

To be clear the bank of dad as you put it didn't do it all. She worked hard and got very good scholarships. We just helped with cars, insurance, phones, living expenses, etc. She works part time and paid a lot of her own expenses also. That was my promise to both girls, work hard and get some scholarships and we'd make sure they got a degree debt free. After that it's up to them. Not to mention we have a very good university here in town.

Congrats. I know how proud it is to get that kind of news. My oldest daughter got similar news this week from UK medical school. I got her through college debt free but this is on her and student loans. You're the nicer dad.

I know some of the Chevrolets are checked like a stick. You have to get them warmed up and pull a plug from the side, fill until some runs out. My daughter had a Cobalt like that. Good way to burn your hands. Yes I found that the hard way.

I feel your pain. Wife and I have paid in to our pensions 26 & 16 years. She's a teacher, I fight fire, along with technical rescue. We can be deployed anywhere for disasters, quakes, etc. High risk with low pay and now they're trying to kill our pensions.

Y'all do me a favor and keep that weather up there. Wife and I going on a 400 miler tomorrow, still hitting 50s to 60s here. We probably don't get over 30-40 days a year too cold to leather up and ride. On the flip side we have to drink our air in the summer around here. Humidity levels usuallly higher than the temps.

KY has a similar law. I found this out while adding my RSV. The agent told me they assume you'll use your health insurance and don't require it on bikes. I added it to both bikes for another $200 a year. $200 vs high deductibles seemed like a no brainer to me.

Recently our buddy Cowpuc made the connection between my username and the other R. Dawson aka Cpl Newkirk aka The Kissing Bandit. Since being knighted "Peter Newkirk" I even tried to change my username to that. Now that my passenger and I are quickly reaching retirement we've started arranging finances for that time, part of that was closing out some insurance policies that have reached maturity to pay off debts. While her's came in just fine, mine had a couple of issues. The main one being not a fortune but a sizeable check made out to Richard Dawson instead of Ronnie. :bang head: So back to the question is Puc in insurance? KY is already trying to cut our pensions since they've been spending our $$$ on capital funding instead of where it was promised, I sure don't need to lose more. :mo money:

I never rode the MKI but loved my 86 Royale. We bought an 07 recently, while I like the comfort it's nowhere near the hotrod the 1sr gens are. If you're ever near Murray KY I plan to sell the 86 soon. I just don't have the time to ride two.

Have you looked at the clutch pack to make sure it was installed correctly? Don't assume the last person in there did things right. I could tell you how I learned that lesson but I'll skip that one.

Hard to find customer service like that any more.

I told her she needs to be a brain surgeon. We could perform brain surgery and rocket science in the same family. Pretty proud of those two smart and strong willed young ladies. Looks like they'll leave an old firefighter like me in the dust. There's gotta be a good punch line: A surgeon, a rocket scientist, and a fireman walk in a bar.............

6 days, 1913 miles:7_6_3[1]:, 2 hotels and oceans, chased from Daytona by high winds, from Gulf coast by a hurricane, rode through a thunderstorm :depressed:and tornado warning to get home. For all that I got a week with the whole family which is hard to do with the kids growing up and doing their own things. We rode roller coasters, swam in the ocean, ate seafood til we popped:fatsmiley:, and had a great time. I found a confederate missile in GA and a great aviation museum at Eglin Air Force base. Go visit if you are in the area, It's worth the time and free of charge. This trip was about the destination not the ride so most of the time was on interstates. I saw several HDs on the way home:mytruck1:, a couple were even running with the rest on trailers. I rode with a Victory for a short while until I got tired of listening to the V twin:Im not listening to, I grabbed a gear and left him somewhere in Alabama. I tried to run with a wing on I65 but I was in more of a hurry than he was. All in all a great week even with the weather. That was the shakedown run for the RSV as wife and I plan to travel on it some in the next few years and then extensively after that. As much as I like the VR the comfort level of the RSV makes it the hands down choice for travel. I felt better getting off of it than I do travelling in a cage. The wife got a lot of time in the cage with the daughters:auto: for their girl talk and visiting, she's liking this empty nest thing even less than I am. The 22 year old is leaving for med school soon and the 15 year old is talking aerospace engineering and moving off also. She has the brain for it. With an orthopedic surgeon and a rocket scientist for kids I'm sure we will have to travel a lot to see grand kids. More reason to keep riding. Now back to life and work.

No info on the General, I just heard one of the others call him by Rank. I'm not sure if he's active or retired and working at the museum. He spoke of how the C130 is probably the most important aircraft ever built for the military. They are still in service in over 50 countries and are projected to remain for several years. The 1st Lady was named being the first ever built. I"d asked him if many of the aircraft were still airworthy, he named 4 or 5 but really started talking about this one. I would've liked to talk with him longer but he was called away for a call. He seemed very happy to answer questions about the displays and very personable. Next time I'm down this way I'll go back to spend more time.

Here is the 1st Lady. I talked with a General there, he showed a strong attachment to this one.

its too far from home to bring the 1st gen, my back doesn't like folding my long legs on it more than a couple hours. There is one advantage though,the plane is cabled to the ground so I might at least get rolling before he can. Really neat place to visit, planes from the 50s up. The 1st ever C130 built (named the First Lady) is there and still airworthy. I never got to serve because of 2 crushed vertebrae but I never pass a military museum. I'm not real knowledgeable about the military but I reserve the greatest respect for them.

I stopped in Cordele, GA for gas and found the confederate missile sight #1 in the corner of the station parking lot. https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11706 We had to bail on Daytona because of the high winds and surf and headed up to Fort Walton beach. The upside being I've put 1300 miles on the RSV on my only trip of the year. 600 more Saturday to get home. Definitely gotta call Rick Butler when I get home, oh the jewels. Much more comfortable than my MKII though. This trip opened my eyes to which bike stays in the stable, no back pain at all.

I stand corrected Naval museum not Air Force. I have Air Force on the brain, saw an old Air Force missile yesterday. Also if you go to Foley try Lambert's for their country cooking and " thrown" rolls.
