  1. Is there a noise filter/isolator installed? It can mute it.
  2. Glad to see you back @skydoc_17 hope you’re healing well.
  3. I haven’t looked at the Ohio or Mississippi River levels but the lakes here that dump into the Ohio are still at winter pool levels. The dam here is dumping at around 4 times the normal rate. If River levels rise they can hold back a lot of water in our lakes to ease flooding. Granted we don’t have to wait for a spring thaw or have tons of snow. I’m hoping the increased flow will have the catfish ready to bite. Hope everybody’s as lucky.
  4. They forecast us 12”-20”. Only got 5-6, I’ll count that as a win. Snow rarely lasts a week here, riding today and going fishing Saturday.
  5. Who besides me and @Squidleycan ride in 63* weather and park beside last week’s snow bank? Gotta love it.
  6. Told ya our weather is crazy here.
  7. Yeah, sounds terrible.
  8. Congrats on getting back on the horse. I too took a 20+ Hiatus. Wife and I enjoy traveling on the Venture much to the dismay of our kids. The one in med school is sure we’ll get killed on it. The blue/black is the best paint scheme of em all, it took me a year or two to find the one we have.
  9. Does your bike have an ignition bypass installed? Maybe something there.
  10. I know we’re laughing and joking about the weather, taking it in stride but I feel for those in Texas and areas that have no resources to deal with it. I told my wife this morning we come and go as we want, have power and water, along with backup generators and a freezer full of food. We’re on a well and have backup heat so we don’t depend on anybody else. Whenever we have an extended power outage the neighbors know there’ll be running water at the hydrant in my yard. In other words we don’t have the right to complain about it. We’re short handed at work right now so I’ve been pulling some 48 hour shifts and gone for long hours, knowing the wife has everything she needs while I’m gone means a lot.
  11. When snow reaches all the way down in Alabama what do engineering students do? Fill the quad with 8’ snowmen.
  12. I’ve made a living the last 19 years working wrecks like that. They are lucky indeed. Best wishes for an easy recovery.
  13. Hoping son n wife are ok. Prayers up.
  14. Below 0 last night, below 32 for several days. Saturday will be 37* first day above freezing for over a week, next Saturday forecast is 60*. And that folks is how KY weather works. I lost a firefighter to a broken ankle Sunday night, slipped on ice fighting fire in 2*weather, next week it’ll be warm enough to ride and fish.
  15. Looks cool. Never needed plow proof box but I built one for mailbox baseball players. Wrapped with 3/16” plate on a 2” steel shaft. Only heard it ring once, no more problems.
  16. Rain storm and Maintenance Day. Never heard of such a thing happening. 🤣🤣🤣
  17. I am aware Carl, that’s why I live down here 🤣🤣. There’s a possibility we may retire farther south to get away from more of it. All this slipping and sliding and I don’t bounce back up like I used to.
  18. I am the the guy to yell at everybody about the KISS method and then the first to over complicate things. 🤬🤬🤬
  19. 3* tonight, last night was 10* with -8 windchill and a house fire for a bonus. Every time we stopped moving our gear froze stiff. I’m 36 hrs thru a 48 hr shift hoping it’s not a repeat tonight. I’m telling you it’s time to come get your weather. Snow, ice, freezing temps do not belong down here.
  20. I’ve only seen the Tennessee River/KY Lake freeze enough to go out on it once. I was a kid and dad took us to see it but didn’t let us on it. No ice fishing here, not to mention I’m not into that whole freezing thing while fishing. I took my boat in last week for service, he promised I’d have it back in two days. I responded that I didn’t care if it was two weeks, should be back in the 50s by then.
  21. @dfitzbizis the guy you want to talk to. He rebuilds them.
  22. Y’all keep those thoughts up there. We have very few plow trucks and salt spreaders here so it doesn’t take much snow/ice to paralyze the area. Nobody has snow blowers here, farmers and a few of us with tractors clear our back roads. We rarely get a dry snow, the first two or three trucks going down a wet snowy road compress it into an ice sheet. No snow tires or chains here. Google the 2009 KY ice storm and you’ll see what two inches of ice can do overnight here. Some were without power 6-8 weeks, ours was 9-10 days. Luckily I have generators that got us thru it. Our town of 20,000 was completely cut off. No groceries or gas for a few days, a water main break left most without running water for a few days, we lost 3 buildings to fire because our hydrants were dry. We’re just not equipped to deal with it because it rarely happens here. Now they’re calling for 8-10” of dry snow Monday, should be fun dealing with that. Us old farts with 4 wheel drive trucks don’t miss a beat but everything else is so bad it’s comical.
  23. Fire it up from cold and check all 4 exhaust pipes coming out of the heads. A dead cylinder will have a cold pipe.
  24. Before I head out on a multi day run I also take a look at the member map to see who lives near my route.
  25. A Venture at 20mpg has problems. As far as low 30s to 40s can be a fair average depending on how it’s ridden. Keep the rpms up around 4K and ride it like a touring bike for the best numbers, ride it like a sport bike (yes it’s capable) or two up at 90mph and those numbers will fall quickly.
