  1. The Urologist I've been going to is a woman physician"s assistant. Didn't bother me a bit to get checked.
  2. I took tamulosin for maybe 9 months but it started to affect my vision which is one of the possible side effects. I was working at the time and after sitting at my computer for a good while and then getting up, I had trouble focusing my eyes. So, I quit taking it. More recently, I tried it again for a while and the vision side effect happened much quicker. I also noticed the second time that it affected my libido too. So, for me, no more tamulosin.
  3. The President's speech in South Korea reminded me of an incident. He spoke of North Korea seizing our surveillance ship Pueblo and imprisoning the crew for a year in 1968. Then in 1969, N. Korea shot down one of our surveillance planes with about 30 people on board. I was in a 40 week training school at Ft. Bliss Texas learning how to repair the Target Tracking, Target Ranging, Missile Tracking radars and the analog computer that computes the kill point and guides the missile to its target for the Nike Hercules Missile System when the Pueblo was seized. This act may have caused me to be shipped to South Korea when I finished training because we had 6 NH missile systems in S. Korea. While I was there, the plane was shot down. When the plane was shot down a crew sat at the consoles for 3 days with a missile raised ready to fire. We could hit surface to surface and surface to air with conventional and two sizes of atomic warheads. After 3 days things went back to normal. Fast forward several years later after I finished college and went to work. A co-op student at work was in the Air Force stationed at Osan Air Base in S. Korea when the plane was shot down. He said that he was on guard duty when the plane was shot down and that the squadron of jet fighters that were in the air at the time evidently retaliated against N. Korea because when they landed they had dropped their wing tanks and had no missiles or ammo left on the planes. Additionally, the pilots disappeared for about a month and than came back with promotions. The Air Force took a lot of heat and criticism for allowing the ship to be seized and their excuse was that all their planes were armed with nuclear weapons!! So, I think they had a plan of retaliation ready if something else happened. The retaliation was never mentioned in the news!
  4. Since a few of us are not so young any more and prostate problems usually accompany aging males I thought I would pass along my thoughts on Super Beta Prostate. I've been taking it for a couple weeks once a day and it seems to be helping. Sometimes when I get up in the morning I have difficulties in getting a stream going. The Super Beta Prostate surely does appear to be helping.
  5. Nope, that's not it. The dealer is in Wilmington NC and the bike doesn't have all the plastic. no windshield, no bags, no fairing. It looks like a great bike for a collector but for riding, there are much better bikes out there these days. While they were fast for their time, the specs say that the 79 thru 82 had 103hp. These days 103hp is not so impressive.
  6. The local Honda Motorcycle dealer has a CBX1000 in the showroom and it looks almost like new. They don't have a price on it but it is supposedly available to purchase.
  7. When the thread is general BS in the first place, does it matter? If someone is trying to resolve a technical issue, I can see why is shouldn't be hyjacked.
  8. I think it would be a distraction.
  9. Thanks for the update! Keep working at the therapy and heal quickly!
  10. ABS is a great thing for most of us. At least the Gen I has linked brakes that many don't like but it could save you from locking up the rear wheel in a panic situation. My crash years ago when I broke an ankle was from locking up the rear wheel and going down. It twasn't fun and was unnecessary.
  11. You were wise to wear the protective gear. Hope you heal quickly. You must have been hurt quite a bit to be in the hospital from Wednesday to Saturday.
  12. Florida doesn't have an income tax so they have to get more creative to get the money to run the state. The tankless air compressors at the gas stations these days puts water in your tires because when the air is compressed the dew point is lowered and water in the air condenses. With a tank you drain it to get the water out but with a tankless compressor the condensed water goes into your tires.
  13. White guy named Devin Kelley killed 26 or more and wounded many more. Local went after him with a shotgun but he was able to flee in his car after dropping his rifle. He died later after a police chase.
  14. I think it's people riding beyond their skill level. Both of those Harleys that went off the road were piloted by riders who didn't have enough riding skills to be riding bikes that big on that curvy road.
  15. How soon I forget. My wife and I went to Cedar Key when we lived in Homossassa, Fl for a year (2008) when I was working contract at the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant.
  16. Have you seen much damage from the Hurricane in the Keys? Going towards Key West when you get to mile marker 30 there is a stop light. Turn right and take the ride side of the split in the road and that will take you to No Name Pub which is interesting in that the entire place is covered with dollar bills inside. And going farther you will get to see some Key Deer. They aren't much larger than dogs. Hint: If you have a banana peel and wave it in the air, they will come right up to you. It's illegal to feed them but the peel will get you a good photo of the midget deer.
  17. Sorry, but I ain't getting in the next lane with that! I'd be too skeered!
  18. This is going to sound weird but I had a 56 Chevy Convertible, the first car that I bought at 19 yrs old. It was dilapidated and an ugly dark green and white. I had it painted red and white inside and outside with new upholstery and carpet. I rebuilt almost everything about that car in the 9 months I owned it before trading it for the 59 Impala. It was my first engine rebuild because of a cracked piston. That car taught me to buy clean low miles cars.
  19. I also had a 59 Impala 2 dr hdtp that I traded for my 65 Chevelle. It had the 283 cu in 4 barrel engine rated 230hp. And it had 3 on a tree with electric overdrive. After you got over about 35 or 40mph if you let up on the gas it would go into OD. The OD rear diff on that model was a 4.11 which really gave it a kick. I embarassed many cars when I raced them because of the quick revving small block and 4.11 gears. Chevy offered the OD from 55 to 61. I had a problem with that car though. Chevy went to coil spring rears in 58 and it took them several years to figure out how to attach them to the car. They initially had two lower arms and ONE upper arm on the right side. I think it was 61 before they used two upper arms. Anyway, drag racing with that 4.11 caused the bracket that the upper arm was attached to to be ripped from the frame or at least it started ripping off. I got it welded back about 4 times before I traded the car.
  20. What do you mean "you lost it"? If the clutch isn't working, it could be something other than the slave cylinder. Lately, I've been buying parts from partzilla.com
  21. I wasn't knowledgeable enough to recurve the distributor advance for maximum hp on my Chevelle back then. I did know that if I bumped the idle setting from 8 degrees BTDC to 14 BTDC it would cover the quarter mile a full second quicker which was a huge hp increase. By the way when I changed the spark plugs in my 2002 F150 5.4L V8, I took my time because they are so hard to get to and I spent about 8 hours just changing plugs. The dealer charge was $240 for labor and $10 each for plugs so I decided it was something I needed to learn how to do. The same Motorcraft plugs were $2.79 ea at Advance Auto Parts.
  22. yep, the last time I pulled the engine out of that 65 Chevelle it took one hour from shutting off the engine to having it swinging. I had just done a minor rebuild on it because I scorched a rod bearing running it wide open in the desert outside of El Paso where I was stationed and rebuilt it at the Army craft shop. The ace mechanic working at the shop advised me to install the rear main seal backwards so I yanked it again to replace the rear main seal again the right way. And the same ace mechanic steered me wrong on the valve seals so I had to disassemble the heads and install the valve seals correctly. So, having recently pulled the engine, I knew exactly what to do next. One hour to pull it and 45 minutes more to replace the rear main seal and then on to the heads. It initially cost me $98 to get the crank polished, block heads and intake tanked to clean them, rings installed on the pistons, new cam bearings installed, and I ground the valves and installed new rod and main bearings. Total cost $98 in 1968 and then had to spend a few more bucks on gaskets and rear main seal. But, I was getting $125/month PFC pay after taxes and a savings bond and I was working 16 hours/day on the weekends pulling kp for other guys for $10/day to pay for my engine! I just wish I had that kind of energy today.
  23. Nope, the Gen 2 covers all Ventures 1999 thru 2013.
  24. I never had a car powerful enough to lift the front wheels but I had loads of fun drag racing my 65 300hp 327cu in 4 speed Chevelle on the drag strip. Running down the quarter mile with open exhausts speed shifting trying to beat the guy in the next lane was one of the greatest thrills of my life! My car would do about 100mph in a quarter. When I was looking for a car for my stepson, we test drove a 2004 Mach I Mustang. The Mach I that year had the DOHC 4.6L engine and the PO had installed full length headers and a Borla exhaust system. That car gave me heart palpatations bringing back memories! I bought a Miata for my stepson which was what he wanted but I thought very seriously about buying that Mach I for myself!
