Yeah, chosing between those two to me would be mostly a matter of seating position choice. Both are great bikes. Goldwings hold their value much better which tells you something about their popularity. I can't imagine a bike that is more comfortable than an RSV. The two biggest complaints I have with an RSV is the annoying clutch basket whine and the heavy steering at low speed due to the handlebar mounted fairing and the wide front tire to some extent. Lots of RSV owners install a narrower front tire that helps the steering at low speed. If you can, test ride both and decide.

Lets talk about Geezer teeth,,, to partial or not to partial?
BlueSky replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I spoke to my wife about implants. She had 5 implants about 6 or 7 yrs ago. She said they cost $3k for the stud and $1500 for the cap each. She also said she thought they were $1k in Costa Rica. I got my countries mixed up. Her friend went to Costa Rica not Guatemala. Either way it ain't cheap but seems to be much preferable to dentures. I am curious what "Clear Choice" can do them for. They claim they install all the implants at one time which sounds terrifying but I suppose it works out. They also speak of a finance plan to pay for them. -

I rented a 40' ladder and repaired my chimney close to the top which felt high up because it's a two story house. My son and his friend helped me manage the ladder. After I finished, my son climbed the ladder just to see what it felt like and decided he didn't want to go to the top. He said it was scarier climbing that ladder than sky diving which he had done several times. Me, I'll pass on the sky diving..... -

My wife's friend who went to Guatemala for implants lives in Jacksonville FL. If you like I will find out who the dentist was and his address. There is such a difference in price that it makes the trip worthwhile. But, I do see these "Clear Choice" ads on tv. Perhaps they provide implants for much less than your local dentist. -

They are Expensive with a capital E but implants would be best I think. I've been lucky with my teeth so far but my wife has had a couple of implants. The price may be coming down. I see ads on tv all the time about them. Or go to Guatemala. My wife has a friend who went there for implants because they were so much cheaper and the dentist was great. I think he makes most of his money on foreigners. -
Speaking of a fair fight, I used to watch a lot of history shows on the history channel on tv. I watched a lot of shows about the old west. The movies might lead you to believe that gunslingers faced each other all the time to see who was the fastest. But I learned that there was only one documented gunfight like that. Wild Bill Hickok faced a guy with 75 yards between them. The other guy drew and shot first and missed. Wild Bill then put a bullet through the guys heart which is an amazing shot at 75 yds with the guns of the day. The other guy had won Wild Bill's watch in a poker game and WB told him he better not see him wearing his watch. The guy wore it and they had the fight. According to the history shows, people usually got shot in the back.

I got stopped one time for no valid reason. I was on my lunch break working in downtown Raleigh. I drove out to the Yamaha dealer to buy some parts. A few blocks from the office I saw these two women with short skirts walking with a thumb out. So, being the gentleman that I am, I stopped and gave them a ride. One of them asked me if I wanted a "date". I of course declined while explaining I was just on my way to the motorcycle dealer. Then the Raleigh police car behind me lit up his lights. He asked me to get out and come to the back of my vehicle. I asked him why did he stop me. No answer but he asked me if I knew what they were. I told him I was getting an idea. He followed me a few miles where I dropped them off at a motel. The guys at work got a good laugh out of it. I didn't care because I was divorced at the time. But I don't think the cop had a valid reason for stopping me.

Today, our local Walmart had Quicksilver synthetic motorcycle oil at closeout prices of $3.99/qt, just 3 qts left. The clerk stocking the shelves said she didn't think they were going to sell it any more. Might want to check your local Walmart if you want this brand. They have lots of marine Quicksilver oil on the shelves.

Having to take a safety course before going helmetless would tick me off for sure. NC didn't have motorcycle licenses until the late 80s or early 90s I think. Anyhow when it was required, I got grandfathered in and didn't have to take the test because I had enough riding experience. NC requires a helmet and that is okay with me. I'm thinking about getting a half shell though. It's almost like not having a helmet with a half shell.

NC is an open carry state. I'd rather carry concealed though. If a bad guy needs to be stopped, I'd rather he didn't know I had a weapon until it was too late for him. Who wants a fair fight? I want the upper hand if at all possible. But you can never know how anything will go down if something bad happens. You may or may not have a chance to do anything about it. My brother-in-law used to run a full service gas station like the days of old. One night a car parked at the outer edge of his parking lot and two guys came in, one white, one black. He was suspicious of them and kept his eye on them and his 1911 in his hand with the hammer cocked behind the counter. They hung out for a few minutes and left. A short while later, he heard over his police scanner that a salt and pepper team had robbed a store down the road a few miles. Being observant saved him that night or saved them. He was a tough guy. Drunks used to come in the store and give him a hard time and they would promptly get thrown out. He had several jammed knuckles from punching out people who sorely needed it.

Many owners buy tonneau covers which limit the bed use even more than this option. It appears it will improve the aerodynamics of the truck. I keep a camper shell on my trucks because I hauled everything I could fit in my truck to my new job location for some minimal furnishings for apartments when I was contracting. Now, I keep a shell on my truck because we like to drive out on the beach close to home and we carry chairs, canopy, body boards, fishing stuff, everything we need to enjoy the beach. All this stuff stays in the truck for most of the year. Yeah, it blocks my view some extent.

glocks are really popular but what I read about them makes me wonder. When the military got new handguns to replace the .45 they didn't consider the Glock because it had the record of having the most accidental firings. Now I understand they selected a Glock type handgun for their next replacement. A forum member on the F150 board has a ranch in Texas and it has a firing range. He said that a guy was firing his Glock and something broke in it and caused it to fire automatically until it was empty. After that he won't allow a glock to be used at his range. I was working at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Plant on 9/11/2001. The NY governor ordered the National Guard to help the Sheriff's dept guard the nuclear facility. At the gate a deputy was showing his glock to a female deputy and shot her in the foot. I suspect he didn't get a date. I'll stick to my Sig Sauer P226 or similar with a hammer so I know it can't fire until cocked.

I'm not condoning what they did especially running like that in traffic. But when you are young and full of testosterone, you do stupid dangerous things. Or at least I did. Think back guys. What stupid stuff did you do?

Will these spark plug caps work?
BlueSky replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I ordered NGK caps back when their site listed some for my 89 Venture. The ones that came are SD05F caps. They are straight caps and my VR has angled caps on the front two cylinders. I still have not installed them! https://www.amazon.com/s?k=sd05f&hvadid=177574814795&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9010078&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16328367812238270345&hvtargid=kwd-11054075277&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_4nc6c6ui9_e -
OH! The Irony! or The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men

I agree with the previous post. If you tightened up the A-arms without weight on the wheels that is very likely to be the problem. -
They used lots of people to help on the album including many recording engineers/mixers. But, my son worked on most of the album. You have to work on more than half of the album to get a grammy if the album wins one. He has been working for Beyonce for 6 or 7 years now. The others were brought in for some of the songs. If you look at the album credits, the list is long for writers, producers, and recording engineers/mixers. i think it will be like her album "Lemonade where many people got credits but he was the only person who worked on the majority of the songs and the only one who got a grammy besides the singer.

Last night when the Grammy Awards were announced, Beyonce and JayZ's album Everything Is Love was awarded a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. That meant that my son Stuart also won a Grammy for recording/mixing the majority of the album! This is his second Grammy Award and I think the 4th time he has been nominated for his work!

Looks like chopping the front springs or adding blocks to the rear will work to level the truck. Ford used blocks above the axle to raise the 4x4s. -
OH! The Irony! or The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men
BlueSky replied to luvmy40's topic in Watering Hole
Way back, I put the biggest sway bars on my 70 302 Mustang that I could buy at that time. It came with a 5/8" bar on the front and no bar on the rear. After that it had a serious oversteer. One day going to work I pulled out to pass a car and another car popped up in the oncoming lane so I had to swerve back quickly. The rear broke loose on dry pavement. After fighting the skidding left and right a few times I ended up in a shallow ditch on the right side of the road. I drove out and there was no damage to the car or to me. After that I knew I had to stiffen the front end which I did with 428 Mustang front springs. The front end was raised about 1 1/2". So I took the springs out and hacksawed about 3/4 of a coil off the ends. After that it sat about 1/2" lower than stock which was what i wanted. I took it to the Kmart parking lot on Sunday and drove around in a circle which proved that the handling was neutral. If you drive a car in a circle while holding the steering wheel in the same location if it makes a smaller circle each time around it is oversteering. If it makes a larger circle each time, it's understeering. It works and you don't have to drive fast to test it. -
Lately I've been watching a lot of South Main Garage and Pine Hollow Diagnostics videos. They do some complex troubleshooting using their scanners. I'm learning a lot.

One of those old cars with no electronics might still run if we ever get hit by an electromagnetic bomb. But we will have plenty of other issues to deal with if that ever happens.

BlueSky replied to rbig1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've ordered from babbitts before. No complaints. I think partzilla may be less expensive though.
